If you're feeling a little more overwhelmed than festive this holiday season, MindBody Green and Dr. Vasant Lad have a few tips from Ayurveda to prevent anxiety and stress:
1. Relaxing bath with ginger and baking soda
Use 1/4 cup ginger and 1/3 cup baking soda in a tubful of water.
Soak for 10 to 15 minutes.
2. Almond milk
Soak 10 almonds overnight in water. Peel off the skins and blend with 1 cup water or warm milk.
Warm milk is traditional variation recommended by Dr. Lad but if you are avoiding dairy, use warm water.
Add a pinch of nutmeg, ginger and saffron.
3. Orange juice
For anxiety accompanied by a fast heart rate, a cup of orange juice with 1 teaspoon honey and a pinch of nutmeg can be effective.
If you're awake this morning, come join us at Revive Wellness Center. We have meditation from 9-9:30 followed by Vinyasa practice from 10-11:15.
Meditation is a life skill with well-documented, scientifically proven benefits. Our 30 minute practice begins with walking meditation and a short sequence of yoga poses followed by seated practice. The technique presented is a simple, guided, non-denominational focus on the felt sense of breath in the body. This is a donation based class with 100% of the proceeds to be used in support of Tamarindo's community space for children, Oneida Park. No prior yoga or meditation experience required.
A flow style practice using the classic Sun Salutation as the foundation to develop flexibility and muscle tone. Therapeutic, Restorative, and Viniyoga sequences are used for attention to deeper connective tissue and joints. All levels.
