I can listen to everyones advice and tips and go off my education BUT what it comes down to is.. I trust the iron the most.  The barbell and those weights are my only 100 percent. They never change until I make those gains. I am preparing myself mentally and physically for my first powerlifting meet. I have a lot on my plate because I still need to choose federations.. Etc. I'm nervous and overwhelmed and I don't want to fail. I am so scared, crying and puking sometimes  because I'm so fucking scared. Idk how to explain it but I'm nervous to the max. I know so many people are counting on me to be one of the better lifters.. To come out with a win.. Some kind of win. So.. Some older gentlemen at that gym (almost 70) was a powerlifer in his prime and was applauding me the whole time I was doing my power cleans.. Talk about LIMELIGHT, I never felt so nervous in my life in front all those fucking people watching this go down 😂 yall don't mind me.. I'm average doing average lifts with average friends 😂 seriously, I'm average af but he made me feel like I was a superstar in front of a busy gym with everyone looking. FYI.. Flashing back to Monday when I had a really great leg day, heavy squats followed by heavy deadlifts. Last November my conventional max was 270 and on this day I was able to do 3x2 with 275! Felt awesome -

Today was Bench Press Day. I'll be totally honest, I was going to show a video of my #105 for 5 reps, BUT.. the last rep was everything I had and it was hard enough doing one set 😂 I thought I'd be able to push 105 for 6 max reps but that barbell almost killed me at 5. 105 was 85 percent of my 90 percent 1RM. DAYS LIKE THIS.. I could use a gym partner BUT.. Took my ‘onesie’ on a test drive tonight since no one was around to see me in it. Haha! I’ll have to get over that. 😬Overall, I felt fatigued, but still managed to increase weight in both squat and bench. Squats are now at 180 for 5 sets of 3, and 112.5 on bench for 3 sets of 5. Deadlifts, well they were rough, but I’ll get it. I wound up working out 4 times this week instead of 3, and I felt every bit of that tonight. Time to chug some protein and sleep. ✌🏼 .

I guess I ate my Wheaties yesterday. Squats felt stronger at 175lbs than they did at some of my lighter weights. 💪🏼 My right heel came up a little bit, so I’ll need to watch that next time. Same dress, May 2016 to December 2017. 
It’s my 500th (!) post, which means it’s time to reflect. I’ve been doing this fitness thing, to varying degrees of intensity and adherence, for almost two years now. I have learned to feel excited about strength and physical power, and the rush of lifting something that just last week was too heavy to get off the floor. I’ve dropped only 10% of my original body weight in that time, but my body fat percentage has decreased by 14% while my muscle mass increased 14%. I think that more or less makes this the recomp to end all recomps? I’ve dealt with injuries and seemingly endless physiotherapy, and only recently have I started to feel like my body is fundamentally reconsidering how it negotiates its surroundings. I’m hoping next year is the year I get to start lifting heavy for real, but until then, just gotta focus on improving stability and cardio, plus dropping as much body fat as I can without compromising my mental health. 
Basically, the important thing is this: I’m still here. Keep showing up. Some days it’s a half assed effort and some days it all seems impossible, but if you give yourself a little grace and keep one eye towards your long term health, the rest will more or less follow. Keep grinding.

I was able to grind out a 6th rep on all 3 sets of 105lbs, so I’ll attempt 110 next time. 💪🏼 I also started phase II of the Starting Strength program, and did rows today in place of deadlifts. Deads are my favorite of the lifts, but it was definitely nice to have a break. .

Transformations take time. It is not about perfection. Transformations take patience. And they take consistency. The effort you put into nutrition and training is what you’ll get out. Just like a relationship people. 🏋🏻‍♀️👫

Putting in work every single day, even when you don’t feel like it is how you reach your goals. We all have days where we don’t want to do anything. Hell, I had numerous days this prep where I didn’t want to get out of my bed or do much of anything. But when I reached my goal, it was the best feeling in the world. Today, I am thankful for my health and the people I have come across on my journey thus far.

Today I set a goal to pull 375 in 1 year. That might not be realistic to some people and I’d have to have a solid ass training and continuous progression butttt according to this program, if I add 10 lbs every month to my max, that’s 120lbs more than I’m pulling now.

I know I will get there. Determination is everything. Set goals for yourself.

PRIDE. POWER. PERFORMANCE.

Today was 🔥! 2nd session of lowered weight and working on form adjustments. Everything felt solid, but I’ll give it one more day to really hammer in the changes before increasing my weight. .
