Rowers : a great functional cardio move that when done right will not only spike your HR but work your back, arms, and legs. Basically a great total workout in one move!
Start seated on the rower, toes strapped in and a firm grasp on the handlebar. Keeping your core tight, bend your knees to your chest, extend your arms, and lean forward from the waist being sure to keep your back straight and shoulders back...**this is the key!! (And where most people mess up!)** Keeping your back flat the entire time, straighten your legs pulling the bar as you slide backwards keeping arms fully extended and leaning back ever so slightly. Once legs are FULLY EXTENDED then and ONLY THEN pull the bar in towards your chest (sternum level) keeping your elbows close to your body and pinching your shoulder blades together as you pull. Release arms then bend legs leaning forward (at the waist) and returning to start position and repeat. Go slow at first till you have the motion down. I found that repeating “legs, arms, arms, legs” over and over as I rowed helped me when I was starting out. In no time you’ll be a rowing pro!
In just over four weeks time, I'll be re-opening my online Nutrition Coaching programme - A programme that is specifically designed for you to become a better athlete and excel at your sport.
So, what could the coaching programme do for you?
Well, here's how it helped Paul (Sav - @savvyperformance) - a competitive indoor rower, strength and conditioning coach, and Royal Air force Physical Training Instructor.
'I’ve been working with Chris just short of 4 months and the improvements have been amazing, Chris is on point with his education and information regarding all nutrition advice. His knowledge of nutrition and supplements is on a different level.
As a competitive indoor rower I have always struggled towards the end of the week with lack of energy where Chris turned this around for me in a matter of weeks. All of this was done whilst still maintaining my weight, (no fat gains, all performance gains). Adapting my meals to my every need, even when going away Chris provided me with options to ensure my nutrition stays on point. Chris takes into account all the information I provide by adapting the plan to ensure I can maximise my training and nutritional requirements, day by day.
His eagerness for my success during our coaching calls is amazing. Chris also answers any question I have to a level above and beyond my every expectation. If you want sound no nonsense nutrition advice that is tailored to your every need then look no further then Chris. I have recommend him to several friends and fellow athletes and will continue to do so. Thank you for all you have done.' Sav has done amazingly during our work together, and I want you to have the same results.
