Didn't have time to post this morning but doesn't mean that I didn't make time to get those miles in! A little faster than I wanted but thats ok! Live and learn! Speed work on the schedule for tomorrow so now its time to recover!
Edose is headed to Worlds! 🌍
The Nigerian Athletics Federation announced their roster for the 2017 IAAF World Championships today, & The District's very own @eibadin was selected in the Men's 800m. He earned his way into the meet with his World Standard time of 1:45.87 and will be first running in London in the quarterfinals on Saturday, August 5th. Like this to wish Edose good luck in London!
We are so proud of Edose, but we couldn't have done it without the support of our team. Thank you to @eachfoundation, @spenzstadler @halfmiler1991 @derkh144 & @will_crocker, our sponsors @cocoaelite @stretchscience & @drinkkra, @sportandhealth @explosiveperformance @trainerstone @outsideendurance @samgunna, and @runmcdc for a great meet to qualify at! Also huge shoutout to @hamptonpirates! We couldn't have done it without you all!
Obrigado

I don't advocate for everyone to be a runner or even an athlete, but for everyone to find something they are passionate about, that gives them sense of self, and allows them to feel part of a community. Running has certainly given me that. I can be a bit socially awkward and often feel like an outsider. Running has allowed me to feel comfortable talking to people I hardly know and has been a way for me to get over my social anxiety. I never feel like an outsider in a group of runners. That confidence often spills over and helps me in my day to day life and I am thankful for that.
Tonight's workout (last summer group workout 😭) was 2 mile warmup // 4 x 1k @5k pace with 400 easy (4:18, 4:18, 4:15, 4:13) followed by 3 x 400 with 200 easy (93, 95, 93) // 1 mile cool down. It's amazing how much easier this pace felt than a slower pace did just a few weeks ago! The cooler weather didn't hurt.
The #pool was empty tonight when I went to #swim . That meant there were no friends to lend me a towel to dry off since I forgot one. Luckily, I found one in my bag (hand shown for scale). It seemed to take about 10 minutes to dry off. 😂😂
Run a little farther than you think you can and discover magic. Push through that cramp, choke down that spit, wipe the stinging sweat from your eyes and just. Fucking. Look. Because during those 20, 30, 60 minutes, your problems don't matter. The only things that matter are your feet hitting the dirt. Keep running beauties. You're almost out of the woods. 🌟❤️🌟
In the world of sports I have come across a lot of athletes. Some who are famous and others who are just coming up in their career. I've learned along the way that there's usually two types of athletes, the truly genuine and inspirational person or the person putting on a facade and it's just about the money and fame. One thing true that can be said about all these athletes is that, they are busy with training, marketing and their own personal issues. I won't deny that sometimes I'm quick to judge a person's character, due to my past experiences. Today I'd like to highlight one of those genuine and inspirational people @cameronhanes. Cameron holds a very high standard in his athletic life, which demands lots of his time for training. Cameron also has a very busy personal life and it is understandable that he cannot answer every question a person ask. Last year Cameron competed in the (Bigfoot 200) a 205+ mile point-to-point run. Cameron did phenomenal and has experience over those who've never competed on this trail. @sarahdecamello and I are racing it this year and with the business we felt we hadn't reached our training goals and going in to this brutal unknown race, you sometimes need advice. Cameron took time out of his already busy life to personally call us and give us much needed advice. We can now go in to this run with that added comfort, which could make the difference in finishing or not. Thank you @cameronhanes for being the genuine and inspirational athlete. These are the moments that will resonate with us our entire life. You will always be part of our story we tell about the Bigfoot 200!! #keephammering#love#fitfam#inspire#ultramarathon#run#pnw#amazing#fun#picoftheday#instagood#long#teamhpmc @therock . .
Warm #lunchrun . And, while my legs are still tight and fatigued from the weekend like my hat says, It's all mental. Because 60% of the time mental strength works every time. Who's gonna workout today? #itsallmental
I didn't feel like running tonight. I was (and still) so tired and grumpy and sleepy. But I ran 6km and now at least I can feel semi accomplished while feeling tired and grumpy and sleepy. I also got to appreciate this sunset. Do I live in Florida or North Bay?
