Had a friend who is a very good runner pace me for my first tempo run in ages. We cruised through the darkness in pouring ran. It was a really cool run and felt pretty good! Goal was 6 min pace, so his pacing was on point 👌🏻
This was not easy 😅 so I’ll be decreasing my speed as I up the milage. I want this to be the first of many a #tempothursday .
Also new shoe day! Got to break in a new pair of Pegs I got on sale for 70 bucks 👍🏻
Sometimes you walk alone. And sometimes you need to stand and look up at important things in life and that’s what motivates you to move on!! This was my second race and not doing good gave me the motivation to be better!! Sometimes you are motivated by only you!!

How to get a v taper
The V taper is a desirable physique by many athletes and fitness enthusiasts. It’s characterized by broad shoulders that taper down to the waist. Some people are naturally born with a small waist which gives them the appearance of broad shoulders, but most of us don’t have these types of genetics. However we can modify certain things with training to give the same illusion. .
The first factor when it comes to having a v taper is having good posture. You may not think it’s a big deal, but excessive lordosis pushes the stomach out and creates an illusion of wider hips than usual. Excessive kyphosis combined with rolled shoulders decreases the width of the shoulders. Fixing these few things if you have them is step 1 to a V taper. If you do have them try adjusting them in the mirror to see the differences they make.
Next is having wide/thick lats. This is one of the most important things when it comes down to the v taper since the lats taper down from the arm to the waist. It is important to focus on the lats with exercises like the bent over row, lat pulldown and pushdowns. The degree of which the lat development will enhance your V taper is dependent on their attachment. .
The next important modifiable factor is big delts. The deltoid size will increase the shoulder width and give the illusion of broader shoulders. Big shoulders also allow for a more aesthetic taper from the lats to the sides of the shoulders. .
These are some of the key components of a V taper, note you should not disregard training other muscle groups. Once a optimum proportion of these muscles is reached a normal routine should be implemented to maintain the balance of the muscles. I booked a trip back in November that was supposed to start today. I had to cancel the tickets two days ago but I’m still off work, so while I ran 6 miles today, I also allowed for this delicious dairy free ice cream, movies all day and cuddles with my fur children. It wasn’t the day I envisioned but it’ll do.
Here’s to the start of another strong year in 2018! Congrats to everyone who conquered the Chevron Houston Marathon, Aramco Half Marathon and ABB 5K this past weekend. Y’all were outstanding out there!

Besides running & spinning; a favorite cardio machine we love is the stairmaster! No matter how many times you do the stairmaster, it never gets easier 😩😩 These are 2 types of movements we do to make the time fly by!
Keys to be efficient on the stairmaster:
🔹Try not to hold on to the handle bars/rail; you definitely burn more calories!
🔹If you have to decrease the level/speed to achieve this, ain’t no shame!
🔹If you must hold on, try not to lay on the machine or lean on it, stand upright with light placement on the bars and let your legs do most of the work! 🔥🔥
