Have you ever run in the snow? I do it every year. Even the snow doesn’t stop me to run.
Running in the snow divides runners into two camps: those who say "You can't run in that!" and those who keep on running. If you're in the first camp like me, here are a few tips to help you safely move into the second.
✔️Take it Slowly,
Don't assume you can go straight out and run at your usual pace. Fresh snow is usually pretty safe to run on, but take it easy, especially the first few minutes.
✔️Get the Right Gear,
Make sure you're dressed for the occasion! ✔️Plan your Route,
If possible, head for somewhere off-road; trails and grass are less likely to be icy under the snow.
Just because you have to alter your training for a week or so doesn't mean your fitness will disappear.

#medalmonday Last race of 2017 - the @dubaicreekstriders half-marathon last Friday morning. Cool course running through the souks and down the creek. Finished in 1:37:26 (4:35 min/km, 7:25min/mile). A 23-minute improvement from my first half-marathon 22 months ago. And although I was hoping to (and wanted to finish faster) it wasn’t in the legs on the day (or the nose given my terrible cold). I was disappointed that I wasn’t able to get my legs to turn over as quickly as I wanted them to but as @grahamodonoghue reminded me, I started this year off with surgery and had kidney failure mid-way through so instead of being disappointed I should think of how far I’ve come in less than a year and since he gifted me with a pair of running shoes for Christmas two years ago.
So cold this evening - luckily Bob cancelled track or I'd have run / cycles there - then probably done a too fast, too long warm up followed by trying to race Caroline round an icy track and potentially injuring myself before having to limp home! Instead I spent 45 minutes in the garage Turbo training (Zwift) after kids dinner and before bedtime (stuck on Madagascar 2 for the kids and Ben) - and I was back in time to brush teeth and put them to bed.

Appreciating the simple pleasures in life. I pull up on my driveway several times a day but rarely take the time to remember how lucky I am to have a beautiful home. Warm, comfy and full of love. Guys, you've seen what I've been eating all week. You can see I'm not starving myself. In fact I'm eating more "fun" foods than I normally do. (Hellooooo bacon) I have not felt hungry all week. So imagine my surprise when I stepped on the scale this morning and I was down 7 lbs. Whaaaaaaat. This is crazyyyyyyy. I'm only just starting week 2 of a 12 week program but I'm already sold. This is incredible.
Also was super stoked to get in on a live Peloton class this morning and find out the playlist was 90s rock music. Yessssssss. That's my kind of music!
