Sunday Funday! The city was up early to embrace the day. The sun was out and helped warm Chicago to a mid20 degree day. ☀️ The Bears were at home against the Lions (nope, still not a Bears fan)! And the Lake Front Trail was full of runners prepping to dominate their upcoming Turkey Trot races. 🦃 My pace was a bit slower than yesterday with my arm in a sling, but I am still happy to be out there putting in a few miles. A great friend sent me a note reminding me my pace today was faster than those folks sitting on their sofa! 😂 Have a great day/run! #sundayrunday#arminasling#lakemichigan#roadtorecovery#livingthedream
Long run in the rain, and before the snow hit the city! ⛈ I enjoyed getting outside for a bit longer walk than normal. And for the record, I negative split the second mile! 🎉
I did learn that my chest is still healing up, so after the two miler my arm was back in the sling. Another two miler is on the schedule for tomorrow. Looking forward to the continued progress. But one step and one mile at a time! Good luck to everyone racing tomorrow! Have a great day/run! #roadtorecovery#twomiles#rainyrun#comebackstronger#bostonmarathon2018
One mile on my one week anniversary (but who is keeping count)! 😂 Honestly, I am in absolute awe of modern medicine. 7 days ago a team of amazing doctors and nurses at the Mayo Clinic were fixing my heart and implanting a pacemaker, and now I am walking a mile a day. 🎉 It is pretty miraculous!
The comeback road will be long and full of highs and lows, but I am so glad to be on it with all of you encouraging me!! So I am grateful for my mile today!! Have a great day/run!! #oneweekanniversary#comeback#roadtoboston#bostonmarathon2018#walkbeforeyourun
Views were just OK this morning at the @novemberprojectsf pre-ECSCA workout. 😉 So many tribe members from near & far. The NP Field Trip house representing @nov_project_sea & @novemberprojectyvr had fun!
Happy Throw Back Thursday! Since my ❤️is still on the mend, I thought I would share one of my all time favorite photos from a past adventure. This picture of Ajax, my Mom, and me was taken a few minutes before I started my charity run from San Diego to Phoenix in January 2010!
While standing near the San Diego Cancer Survivors Park, Ajax (all of 3 years old) decided to swap me his toy for The Stick to help me to get ready to run! And yes, my lovely Mom is wearing a down parka in CA in January. 😂 It was a great moment at the beginning of an amazing journey. A journey that ended with me running over 5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ miles and the team raising $30,000 for the San Diego Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!
Have a great day/run! #tbt#thestick#fatherson#teamintraining#family
One mile! 🎉 I guess we all start our comebacks walking a mile. Today was that day for me. No pomp and circumstance, just a slow walk to Lake Michigan and back. My body is still adjusting to the leads in my heart and my body is recovering from the surgery. So a nice slow mile was all I needed. And yes, i did have to take a nap after my walk! 😴 Have a great run/day! #comebackstronger#onemileatatime#cardiacathletes#roadtoboston#bostonmarathon2018
Last run in SF. The views are spectacular, even with the gloomy clouds. I don't think I'll miss running up Hyde street. Definitely leaving with some sore glutes. Easy 7.5 @ 830 pace. Really wish I picked a sunny day to head close to the bridge 😜 Next stop - Florida! -K #2fabfitchicks#goldengatebridge#withoutlimitz#runscape
Feeling much better after getting some decent sleep. Workout called for 6 miles of hills, so hills it was. Ran a better route from the hotel, much earlier = enjoyable running experience. Hills for first 2 and last 2 miles with some water running on Bay Street for the middle. View from Lombard street was pretty as the sun was coming up! (And one of the streets nearby I got an earlier pic of). -K #2fabfitchicks#lombardstreet#sanfranciscorunners#runscape
Happy Medal Monday!! 🎉🏅This year has been one full of so many highlights! All I can say is “Thank You” to everyone who helped make this second chance journey happen. After 2012, I wasn’t sure I was ever going to get a second chance. As I sit here now, having completed the Abbott Six Star Slam, I am humbled and in awe of everything. Again “Thank You” to everyone!
Soon I will be making the journey to Arlington Cemetery to share this with my Mom and Dad! Have a great day/run!! #thankyou#medalmonday#journeyoflife#runningbucketlist#grateful#purejoy
Happy 2017 New York City Marathon Eve!!! 🎉 Today, was a another amazing day! My brothers and I ran the Abbott Dash to the Finish 5K, ate at Patsy’s, hung out with Joan Benoit Samuelson, and I was blessed with the opportunity to share my story at the NYRR Run Lab! ❤️
Now, if all goes as planned a monumental running goal in my life will be achieved tomorrow! I will have run all Abbott World Marathon Majors in 2017! And at the finish line to greet me will be my three best friends, my brothers! Along with my team mates who helped me every step of this journey. Wow! I truly am at a loss for words to express my joy, gratitude, and love for this moment.
Thank you to everyone on IG who inspired, encouraged, and helped me along the way. Please note, my watch is taking tomorrow off so I can enjoy the moment and not worry about pace!! Have a great day/run! #tcsnycmarathon#abbottdash5k#nycmarathon2017#onemoretime#lastmarathon#enjoythejourney
