Ive struggled with my weight my entire life. Growing up I was a fat little doughboy...and the world let me know it constantly.

I remember being a pretty happy kid but somewhere along the line I pretty much started hating people in general for the amount of bullshit I got for being fat.

When I graduated high school I got into lifting and eating properly and got in...and stayed in pretty good shape...which led to us getting into our line of business in 1999. (first pic May 05 240lb BW..Im in the hat).

When our businesses really started taking off...I got away from the habits of working out & eating right and let myself go...I got fat...really fat. I was super depressed, lazy, unhealthy & completely miserable. (Second pic Jan 16 330lb BW).

When I had enough I went back to my good habits of training and eating properly and guess what happened? I GOT RESULTS. (Last pic taken Yesterday at 270lb bw)

The point I want to get across is this:

I know what its like.

I know what its like to not want to go try on clothes.

I know what its like to avoid social situations.
.
I know what its like to never go to a pool.
.
I know what its like to hate yourself.
.
I know what its like to look in the mirror and see a mountain so big & a journey so long you dont think its possible to conquer it.

I know what its like for people to say ignorant shit.
.
I know what it feels like to feel out of control.
.
...but I also know what its like to decide enough is enough.
.
I know what its like to say: "No fucking more!"
.
...and I know what its like to do the work.
.
Am I where I want to be: HELL NO!

...but Im hell of a lot better than I was a year ago.

No matter how big your mountain...or how long your journey...DOING THE WORK...WORKS!

Anything else you tell yourself about time, circumstances, genetics etc is just you justifying another day in a life you hate...and no amount of work...no matter how hard...is worse than that.

Really all I do is deadlift. About a 2 inch deficit with 340 on the bar for 6. First time doing deficits, lot of fun.

2nd leg day this week on my program. I might have died today. 
The same exercises were called for today as on Monday, but I switched up a few things. I did some front squats instead of the traditional barbell squats (which I'm new at, so they aren't super pretty), walking dumbbell lunges instead of barbell lunges, and barbell deadlifts instead of single leg deads.

I am exhausted. I had to go a bit lighter on some moves, because I'm still a little sore from Monday (I may have pushed it a bit too much) but I did it! One more day, and I'm done with week 3!

And the picture is just because I glanced over while I was stretching and thought my butt looked good. Gotta appreciate yourself, right? Lol

Deadlifts tonight. Work sets of paused DLs- 475-3x4 felt great after those and decided to hit 550x1,1, 2-1/2, 1,1. Then conventional 475-2x4 after everything. I tried to be as controlled as possible. I was surprised at how much my strength is coming back. Gotta keep grinding. Debating on doing a push/pull in a couple weeks. This has made me pretty confident again. -

So I've never done weighted dips with a dumbbell locked between my legs so I definitely fucked this up(usually use a belt and plates) BUT I'd like to say my man @big_ty_russ is the real #MVP.  This man asked what weight do I want, I said 95. I got ready he put the weight on and I went to work, only got one because of my leg positioning I couldn't hold onto the dumbbell. BUT My man gave me 110lbs not 95lbs, this man makes me better every single time we get together, physically and mentally. Thank you for being in my corner brother, I appreciate you. -

This isn't the most fun picture to share, but I think it's an important one. 
We are constantly bombarded with pictures of people with perfect physiques. People that we think we should look like. We compare ourselves to these pictures, and we pick apart our own bodies. We aren't content with where we are, no matter what changes we've made. 
When I share photos, they are usually from the best angles, flexing whatever I can. I am trying to show my hard work, and how far I've come. But they aren't necessarily "real" photos.

I wear high-waisted pants and flex my abs to disguise my squishy belly. 
I was lying in bed last night, hating my loose skin and stubborn fat areas. I was pinching my skin and imagining what I would look like without it. I was making faces and making fun of myself. 
I was my own bully. 
Here's the deal. I was obese for the majority of my life. I also carried 2 babies in this tummy. My skin isn't going to just magically tighten up and look perfect. The stubborn fat areas aren't going to disappear. I may never look lean.

But that doesn't mean that I should body shame myself, or that anyone should body shame themselves or anyone else. We all have our own stories and our own journeys. 
Even the fittest people in this world are working towards a goal, and you may be surprised at how they view themselves. 
So, can we all try to love the skin that we are in, and everyone else's skin too?

50 years ago Walter Mischel began the infamous "Mashmellow Test" at Stanfords Bing nursery. During this study he set a single marshmallow in an empty room with a preschooler. The researchers told the preschoolers if they did not eat the marshmallow for 20 mins they would receive a bigger reward (2 marshmallows).

This study in delayed gratification gave insight as to what kind of future lives these preschoolers would have. Mischel found that children who waited for the two marshmallows generally fared better in life. They had higher SAT scores, lower body mass index, and were generally viewed as more competent adults.

The ability to delay gratification is the #1 indicator in success... whether that be on a diet/health (put the donut down), your training program (you just joined the gym a month ago, of course you don't look much different), your career (you are changing jobs again?) or your personal finances (do you really need a brand new car when you make 30k a year?). Your self control dictates your life.

Most of the time we go our separate way in the gym and only talk when we need a spot or a wink for motivation πŸ˜‰ But yesterday we lifted legs together & killed it!! Working out with someone who understands your needs and pushes you to do your best is the greatest 😍 I love my gym partner.

Today, 10 years ago.... I was prepping to go have Deborah the next day.  Those "first" moments are amazing... the first time you see your brand new baby, the first cry, the first hold .... Deborah's journey certainly hasn't been easy for her, for any of us.... but I know she's a fighter.... at 4 months old, our world was turned upside down with a stage 4 cancer diagnosis.... but she fought.... she fought through 2 major brain surgeries back to back at 4 months old.... proved doctors wrong when they said 2 months before her cancer claimed her life.... proved doctor wrong when they said she'd never stand...(we had to brace her legs to let her Brain know she had legs, proved doctors wrong when they said she wouldn't walk.... I watched her fight for every step, and when she would cry because it was too hard we talked and I told her she WOULD Walk and run like other kids... and she would smile.... she has the best smile. And I've learned soooooo much from her. Tomorrow she reaches 10 years old, when I thought she'd be buried by 8 months old.  Tomorrow we celebrate life..... we don't dwell on her cancer.... we don't dwell on the lesions that are there... we dwell on life and the present!!! Because after all, it is a gift... that's why they call it the present! So today I'm thankful for almost 10 years... and each milestone she's reached and each obstacle she has overcome.  Thank you, God for 10 precious years with her!!!! ❀️❀️❀️ and I'm thankful God chose me as her mother. Swipe to see part of her journey! .

Today's chest and triceps workout is brought to you in 2 parts because: mom life. 
I was about to start the 6th exercise of my program when a worker from the gym daycare came out and said my daughter had a bad diaper. So that was the end of my gym time today. 
I finished up my workout at home. Can you tell why I don't work out at home much anymore? And yes, my daughter stopped the recording on that 2nd video. 
But even through all of that, I got it done. It may not have been pretty, and there may be a 30 minute break in the middle, but I didn't just decide to call it good and skip the last 4 moves. I used what I had, improvised, and finished my workout. 
I'm not going to grow by giving up or half -assing it. I want to see progress, so I'm going to have to work for it.

She went on to say sometimes kids don't have moms that care about them as much as you care about us. I have always instilled gratitude in my girls since they were small.  And so many Times as moms we feel like we aren't doing enough, and that we fail left and right and go to bed at night wishing that we were better throughout the day. I know a lot of times I lay in bed and reflect on my day and how I can make tomorrow even better for my family and for those that I have contact with every day. I count it a blessing to be in the position that I am but realizing that where I'm currently at didn't come easy. People often look at my life and say, wow you have it easy. You don't have to work, etc. and it's all because I have a husband who works so very hard to make sure that I don't have to. I count it a blessing that I can stay home with my girls each and every day! But what people don't know about me is that I was laid off from a job when I was pregnant with Madison because I wouldn't disclose my maternity leave. That in itself was a blessing in disguise because little did I know at that moment that our third daughter would have cancer and I wouldn't be able to work. We learned to live on one income very quickly. So when you look at someone and think that they have it easy, what you don't know is where they've walked and what they've walked through and how they fought to be where they're at and who they are. Take a moment and before you judge someone, Think about all of the information that you don't know about that person. And always teach your children to be thankful for what they have and to work hard and they are not just handed things in life, that they have to work for it. It's how I was raised. We learned to live on one income very quickly. So when you look at someone and think that they have it easy, what you don't know is where they've walked and what they've walked through and how they fought to be where they're at and who they are. Take a moment and before you judge someone, Think about all of the information that you don't know about that person. And always teach your children to be thankful for what they have and to work hard and they are not just handed things in life, that they have to work for it. It's how I was raised.
