Well done to mentor @simonkeen1 on his 💯
T20 cricket is about backing yourself and enjoying it.
This time last week Abbs and I had just finished one of the most unbelievable experiences of our lives. We went out onto Adelaide Oval at dinner break during The ASHES with blind and vision impaired kids & teenagers whilst they participated in the Cricket Australia Sporting Chance Fund Clinic, to promote inclusiveness in sport. The participants had an absolute ball and I was extremely grateful to be involved, it was a dream come true. The experience has inspired me to get more involved with inclusive sport and volunteer my time where i can🏏👭
💥OUT OR NOT OUT?💥
Tag a mate with a sensational appeal @aj_isherwood 👊
You can’t control the decision from an umpire. You have to take what you can learn from it and move on swiftly. When going back to a spinner the key is to stay in an athletic position so you can adjust to the bounce whether it be high or low bounce.
TAG THE BEST PLAYER OF SPIN YOU KNOW 👊
Here are a couple of drills to improve your footwork down the track to spinners. You want to get your forward and as close to the ball as possible. Struggling against spin? How good would it feel to play the spinners confidently? Check out our how to play spin masterclass on our website.
CAN ENGLAND WIN THE 2nd TEST? 🏴 Coming off his first 5 wicket haul in Australia James Anderson talks about the disappointment of the first two innings and that the England side wanted to show character in the second innings.
You have to show character in cricket and you have to be able to bounce back quickly from a poor performance. The longer you stay down and miserable the longer you will be in a form slump. You have to have the right understanding and awareness of your mind and be able to get control of it straight away to put yourself in a position to perform the way you want too.
This is an extremely important skill to learn and improve on every day. It is just as important to learn to hit the gaps as it is to hit the ball powerfully. We get asked all the time about how players can rotate the strike and get singles. Hitting the ball into the gaps is a great way to do that. How good would it feel to be confident at the crease knowing you were able to hit the gaps and get off strike every ball. The great players know how to do this. They can control their emotions, stay clam and execute under pressure. They are mentally strong.
YES, NO, SORRY 🏏
We’ve all been there, either we have stitched someone up with a bad call or we have been stitched up by a bad call. Tag a mate who has done a yes, no, sorry call. 😂 and anyone who tackles the stumps instead of just taking the bails
It’s more about head positioning and weight transfer then it is about footwork.
Especially as a left handed facing a right arm over the wicket bowler. We tend to wait for the ball a lot longer and player squarer with an angle bat. That all changes when the bowler comes around the wicket or the bowler is left arm over. I loved watching Brian Lara throw his hands through a cover drive. Which left handers cover drive do you love to watch?
RAMP SHOT 👌
Perfect illustration of the ramp shot. Assess the conditions, bowler and field placements. Once you know the shot is on it’s all about execution. Get front on, stay as still as possible, keep your head still and ramp it off the face. Having the right mindset makes all the difference with this shot.
Fantastic double ton today for Glenn Maxwell after not being picked in the test team. It shows great character and a strong mindset to bounce back after the lead up to the Sheffield Shield game that he has had. As Shane Warne says he makes things happen and every team needs someone like that. Leaders can definitely help him to express himself but if they don’t help him he needs to have the belief to do it anyway. Today he has shown great belief and determination. He has definitely made it happen for Victoria against NSW at North Sydney Oval 📷: @bushrangers
POWER HITTING 💥
I like to finish sessions off with some power hitting. My aim is to keep my head as still as possible whilst swinging long through the ball and hitting it hard. It’s great to practice this because there will be times in your innings where you will need to up the run rate. You need to have options available and you need to know what you can and can’t do.
Happy Birthday to South African batsman Andrea Agathangelou @aggers11!! He's had a run in county cricket as a non overseas player (Cypriot passport) for a few season for Lancashire and Leicestershire, now he's back home playing for Titans. Very talented player, could very well be part of national plans. #andrea#agathangelou#sacricket#leics#lancs#countycricket
Basic Catching Drills 🏏
Here are a few great drills you can add to the start of your fielding sessions. These 3 drills have different components to them which make them great. Fielding can be overlooked when training but it can make the biggest difference to whether your team wins the game. Let us know if you give them a try.
