Theme of my work nights the past few weeks have been “if you did this in the city I think you’d be pretty famous.” Um I don’t think so, but thank you and no thank you nice people from all over the country. #salidacolorado#bikerandbaker#pastrychef#cheflife
We once threw a "house-gallery" party of insane proportions in the vortex after the Parade of Lights, one of the more fun nights of Salida winter. The bathtub was full of Mickeys, and we communally consumed a bucket of "whoop juice" (seriously we drank from the same bucket with straws at the same time). There was the noise band, Velodrome playing in a front bedroom. People bought art they did not remember the next day. It was fun. A decade later on this very night, we are preparing to re-open our beloved record store and art gallery in a new/old location. I cannot guarantee a bathtub full of Mickeys, and I think we are all a little more concerned about the germs of communal "whoop juice" these days, but we are still those idiots at heart. Please join us for our GRAND RE-OPENING on November 24th, 3:00 PM - 10:00 PM. We will definitely have some beers, bubbles, fried chicken, and donuts, possibly one half of Velodrome djing, & there could even be a cask of "whoop juice" lurking around. SDRA is moving on up to the west side with a ton of new art, records, turntables, books, and clever-gifts for those you love. Let's celebrate, see you there, 110 West 1st Street - next to the new turning lane. ⚡️
This beauty took me well over 100 hours and a few thousand beads. I started it back in 2016, and had to set it aside for quite awhile in order to keep my sanity and my posture! A one of a kind statement piece, not for the faint of heart. #casuallyelegant#salidacolorado#mountainbohemian

The subtlety of new moons are ideal for meditation, and creative contemplation. It is a time to remember who we are, what is valuable for us at this time and to receive guidance on what is to come. It is a symbolic portal for new beginnings, to set intentions, create and develop, cultivate and manifest our dreams into being. As we align with the greater cycles of nature we can allow ourselves to feel into the rejuvenating ebb and flow of life.
@chaninicholas shares, "this new moon offers us the opportunity to enter into a new lunar cycle with a greater awareness of what we need to heal. What emotions we need to pay attention to. What secrets need airing out. What energy it has taken to keep them buried. It’s time to free up our energy. The power that is available to us when we allow the truth to surface is unmatched by anything given by the outside world. This new moon is reminding us of the presence of that power. Our access to our own power. The importance of refusing any narrative that would keep us from that power. It takes a tremendous courage to stand up for the truth. A tremendous determination and belief in one’s own truth to challenge abusive institutions. A tremendous heart to hold the heartbreak that resurfaces with each and every admission of pain from ourselves and our community.
If home is not a place, but a feeling, the feeling I️ get driving back to Salida from Denver is pretty damn amazing!
I️ will always be a TX girl at heart, but this decade I’ve lived in CO has brought out in me an intense love for mountains & outdoor adventures. I️ saw this view last week coming towards the Collegiate Peaks - the signal that my new home, Salida, was near. I️ was instantly filled with excitement & joy. I️ live here!!. I️ get treated with snow-covered peaks & magical sunsets (#nofilter btw). While I’ve felt at home in TX and Denver, I️’m feeling more at home here, in Salida, though it’s been less than a year.
It’s true, home is a feeling. And I️ feel we can have several homes that feel good in different ways in different times of our lives.
I️ hope you feel at home wherever you are!
Hey- it's Daniel with @coloradotimelapse again!
Does anyone else think the drive up into Westcliffe is epic? Coming from the east into Westcliffe through the Wet Mountain Range along Hwy 96, these monolithic rocks greet you like sentinels guarding their beloved home. 🌲🌲🌲
Keep Vata in check! Composed of the elements of air and space, the Vata constitution can tend to get out of balance (if it isn’t already in most of us!), in the late fall and early winter. With our dry climate and our current lifestyles, many of us need to put practices in place to stay healthy and balanced by keeping Vata down. Join Annie for a Vata Pacifying Workshop this Saturday afternoon and get your Banyan products at the studio today!
Colorado loves outdoor pianos and the little mountain town of Salida is no exception. I’ve walked down Colorado streets many nights to the sound of a fellow pedestrian stoping and playing a quick song on the sidewalk instrument. #piano#salidacolorado#autumn#mountainlife#streetmusic
