How lovable are these Galapagos Tortoises at the @sandiegozoo 🐢😻
They’re thee largest tortoise species in the world!
On the notion of zoos-do you like them? When it comes to *good* zoos, I say YES! -🐢- Did you know that good zoos do SOO much for wildlife conservation around the world!
A lot of people think zoos are bad or it's not ok to have exotic/wild animals in captivity but being in the animal profession I'm here to share why they’re so important-follow the link in my Bio to today’s YouTube video. -🐢-
I explain all the reasons good zoos are so valuable for the conservation of our wildlife. Of course there are bad zoos that don't contribute to the greater good and yes, some species probably never belong in captivity, but overall-I strongly believe in the importance of zoos. If you don’t see it that way then I urge you to watch this video. I hope you can learn something here and gain a better perspective on what quality zoos really have to offer.
Did you know that Hippos don’t actually swim? They walk along the bottom to shallow water—they hold their breath for minutes at a time. This was taken at the San Diego Zoo a few days ago. #sandiegozoo#funatthezoo#sandiegozoo
Connor’s Canine’s - A tiger’s large #canineteeth and powerful jaws are used to grab a prey animal by the neck and suffocate it. #Tigers use their sandpaper-rough tongues to scrape the last bits of meat from the bones of a meal. A tiger makes a kill once or twice a week and eats as much as it can. #TeethForDays#SanDiegoZoo#EndExtinction

#sdzjunglebells 2. Social group. This is a special member of my social group/family with another special social group: Hamdryas Baboons. These awesome creatures work, play, groom, and hang out together. They are so fun to watch! We think that are a fantastic addition to Africa rocks!
The Orphaned Twin Grizzly Bears have finally arrived at the #RiversideDiscoveryCenter ! Stop by the Riverside Discovery Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska and check them out for yourself! 🐻❤️
#sdzjunglebells 1. Africa rock star. My penguin 🐧 loving rock knew that penguins had to be our choice for this category. These amazing creatures have the amazing ability to camouflage themselves while swiming. They white bellies blend in with the sun's rays and their black backs help them blend in with the dark ocean's depth. Fact from Derek my penguin fan
