Thanks for following the @SavetheBWCA takeover! The #BoundaryWaters is an amazing 1.1-million-acre #Wilderness area in Northeastern Minnesota. This prime #canoecountry is threatened by sulfide-ore copper mining proposed in its watershed, and the Campaign to #savethebwca is dedicated to protecting the #BWCA from this risky type of mining. Help us speak up for the #Wilderness by signing the petition at the link in bio & make sure to stop by at our booth at the @mnstatefair!
The U.S. Forest Service is currently considering long-term protection for the Boundary Waters from sulfide-ore copper mining proposed on the edge of this beloved Wilderness. We are going to attend the Forest Service Public Meeting in Virginia, MN tomorrow to show what the Boundary Waters means to us and why it needs to be protected. Clare, Kit and I hope to see you there, too.
PLEASE HELP STOP the senators from amending the Antiquities Act on Chilean mining conglomerate. They would get the right to mine copper immediately upstream of the Boundary Waters Wilderness, which is not natural and not okay. Press the link in my bio to vote agaisnt it!!! #BWCA#SAVETHEBWCA
Our @ebbetsvintage hats are as at home in the city as well as in the wilderness. @jeffhilligoss sports his while stoking the fire in the BWCA. #savethebwca
Preparing for our winter BWCA trip. Looking for a crew who is willing to brave the sub-zero temps! 😊🌲❄ #savethebwca#bwca
The USFS & BLM are currently taking public comments on whether or not copper sulfide mining should be allowed in the watershed of the Boundary Waters. Help protect this incredible & pristine wilderness via the link in our profile! ✊️📸: @jordansriley #keepitpublic#savethebwca

*Basic city dog complaining about missing summertime* (jk my coat is thick af so I don’t miss the heat at all)
I don’t care where you lie just have an educated opinion on the things that matter.
@savethebwca is on my mind this week. Proposals for copper mining were shot down by the MN gov last December because the proposition was deemed too risky, but now with reductions to public lands in Utah, the threat seems to be back. Mining could compromise the entire watershed.
This is a photo from a trip I took to the #boundarywaters last August. A special place well worth protecting. Check out dirt Orcas.com for our #wednesdaywanderlust feature of #bearwitness - Link in Bio.
Kate and I decided to run this year's Boston Marathon for a bigger purpose... to #SaveTheBWCA from the proposed sulfur-ore copper mining on the Park's edge. Thousands of lakes and millions of acres of national forests are at risk of being polluted. This is our chance to do something about it! Kate and I started a GoFundMe page and will donate 100% of the proceeds to the Save the Boundary Waters organization in hopes of raising 1,000+ dollars! Let's save this irreplaceable forest from irreversible pollution!
PUBLIC. LANDS. ARE. IMPORTANT.
Mr. President you've made a #monumentalmistake in Utah regarding Bears Ears and Grand Staircase Escalante National Monuments. Public lands are what make America great. 🛶
ALSO Wilderness areas are important to keep clean like the Boundary Waters. Two summers ago I backpacked along the Animas River in CO that was polluted by an EPA/mining incident the year before and you could still see the damage (Orange rocks in photo one). #SavetheBWCA @savethebwca .
If you're not angry, you're not paying attention.
SuperMoon ➰❄️💙🌕💙❄️➰ 12/2/17 #fromthekayak .
“*FULL MOON* SuperMoon in Gemini is prismatic with information, able to shapeshift into multiple expressions. Not an easy path to discern. Best not to get swept up with the tides of misinformation, instead ground into your own center and listen deeply to your Soul.
With Mercury just having turned retrograde, there is much to reflect on. This a healing time as well as a time of self-mastery where we have an opportunity to cleanse our perceptions and open up to a new way.
Time to upgrade our thinking and remember that we are free to perceive our experience in what ever way we choose.
We are powerful beyond measure. Trust in your process and trust in your heart.” ~ MysticMamma.com
“December is a big month in astrology as there are a lot of changes and shifts taking place. These changes and shifts are really going to help shower us with a new energy and a new outlook for the year ahead.
The last Full Moon for 2017, falls in the air sign of Gemini on December 3, the same day that Mercury goes retrograde. This Full Moon is also a Super Moon, which means its energy is going to be amplified.
The new beginning delivered to you may or may not have been what you wanted, but no matter what has been sent your way, try to find the gratitude in it all and trust the bigger picture.
Use the energy of this Full Moon to celebrate yourself and your life, no matter what new beginning has come your way.
The Gemini Super Full Moon is all about connecting with the truth and that includes the truth of who you really are. You are a timeless, spaceless, ageless being that lives inside a temporary vessel that is here for a journey of learning how to love yourself more, love the planet more and love one another more.” ~ Tanaaz, ForeverConscious.com (excerpts)
Hey folks, if you guys didn't know already, one of my favorite places on this planet is in danger. A bill has passed to reopen Superior Natl Forest land to mineral exploration and new copper-nickel mines (it has yet to be passed in the Senate). A company called Twin Metals will be developing a mine near Ely, MN (which is right on the edge of the BWCA). The lands and waters of the area will no longer be protected from potential mine waste and pollutions, which will affect the quality of the waters and the safety of animal habitats. You can sign a petition against the mining and/or gain some more info at www.savetheboundarywaters.org. Help keep the BWCA in pristine condition! 🏕️💕 #savetheBWCA
This picture is a couple years old but still makes me miss this place. To me, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is the true Minnesota, and everyone should experience it at least once. #savethebwca
H.R. 3905 introduced by representative Tom Emmer just passed the House of Representatives, please call your senators today and tell them to vote NO on this toxic bill to allow copper-nickel mining on the edge of OUR water wilderness (and circumvent the Antiquities Act; founded by Theodore Roosevelt who first established the Superior National Forest); America's most visited wilderness. Your voice truly does matter and now is the time to speak up and let your opinion be heard! #SaveTheBWCA
#tbt in honor of the vote happening today on H.R. 3905. The BWCA is a place of adventure, respite, and communion and I'm so grateful for the time I had there this summer. I'm praying today for wisdom and discernment for those voting, that they would act in ways that preserve this gift, that we as a people can be good stewards of what we've been given. #savethebwca#friendsbwcaw#votenohr3905
UPDATE: H.R. 3905 passes by 12 votes despite strong bipartisan opposition.
Call your reps and tell them to #VoteNoHR3905 ! Rep. Tom Emmer's anti-BWCA bill would eliminate environmental protections and allow a foreign mining company with a history of environmental violations to build sulfide-ore copper mines on the edge of the BWCA. Call now: 202-224-3121
hey all you lovers of blue lakes, rocky shores, and loon melodies: in case you haven’t heard amidst all of the chaos; the boundary waters are currently threatened by a gross bill (HR 3905) that would grant leases to two major mining companies. if passed, the bill would also eliminate the environmental review process AND make the mining leases perpetually renewable right on the edge of this wild wondrous wilderness. yuck!!!! plz plz plz consider calling your rep RN and telling them to vote no on HR 3905 (they’re planning to vote later today!!) 202-224-3121🌲🌲🌕🌊🛶#savethebwca
Sun rises over the Capitol. Our team is already at work to defeat Rep Emmer’s bill #hr3905 which will lead to the destruction of the #boundarywaters . If you haven’t yet please please call your member of Congress by dialing 202-224-3121 select ”Representative” and enter your zip code to get your Rep. Urge him or her to VOTE NO on H.R. 3905. Voting is this afternoon and we need all the calls we can get before then. #savethebwca#minnesota#publiclands#saveourpubliclands
