Paul the Cat Guy Saved A DOG!! Who Needs A Home (Have a Kleenex Ready When You Read the Rescue Story)

@Regranned from @paulthecatguy - MY FIRST DOG RESCUE: MARCO
Today I found out one of two bonded beagles had died. I went to go pick him up to take to the vet for cremation. When I got there I looked inside the dog house and saw MARCO with his head laid on top of his deceased best friend, ROCKY.
I took ROCKY to the vet for cremation and came back for MARCO. His nails aren't trimmed and he has some discharge coming out of his eyes. He has what looks like glaucoma in one of the eyes. He stinks, he's filthy, and just generally unkempt. What is sad is that once I took ROCKY away it's like he was walking around looking for him.
Not knowing anything about dog rescue, I went to the pet store and got a bunch of things for him. I took him away from the cement compound they had been living in for their entire lives and brought him indoors.
Next step will be to bathe him and eventually treat him with Frontline. Then a vet visit. I do know he has had shots, but he needs an overall exam and whatever he needs I will get for him.
As knowledgeable as I am about cats, that is how unknowledgeable I am about dogs. Any input on what I should have done at the vet, what types of tests, treatments, etc would be appreciated.
I also want to find him a home. Of course hitting the lottery is almost as likely, but I am always looking and asking for cats, so I am asking for my first dog rescue too.
This has been a very surprising day for me.

Lala Needs A Loving Home!

@Regranned from @babylonanimalshelter - **PLEASE SHARE LALA TO FIND A HOME**
LaLa #17 -754. Arrived 12/31/2017 at 1 year old.
LaLa came to us when humane law enforcement had her and another dog removed. She was in a pen with improper shelter, snow on the ground and freezing temperatures... at an uninhabited property. LaLa is now warm and safe with us and ready for adoption. She came to us already spayed and she has had her exam with a clean bill of health. LaLa has a think coat, but we expect that as the season ends, it will be come a shorter thinner type of coat. LaLa loves to run and do zoomie laps in our yards, once she gets that out of her system she will fall at your feet and give you belly up. LaLa does show some worries when toys are thrown or when she perceives movement as a threat. LaLa has shown good dog skills with other dogs here at the shelter. - #regrann

Unlike humans, dogs are unable to sweat. They rely mainly on their respiratory tract to dissipate heat.
What feels like an okay temperature to you does not mean it’s okay for your dog, even if you are running an errand “for a quick minute.” A minute is all it takes for heat stress and damage to begin.
Dogs with Heatstroke often present in an altered mental state, from mild disorientation or depression, to muscle tremors, seizures or even coma.
Heat stress damages liver, GI tract, kidneys and circulatory system and it happens FAST.
If you see a dog in a hot car, GET IT OUT. Many dogs found dead in hot cars are down by the gas pedal because they are trying to get away from the heat.
This is an extremely painful death and yet year after year hundreds of dogs die in hot cars. This is PREVENTABLE simply by not leaving your dog in a hot car. It’s as simple as that.
Please educate others, support the efforts of your local law enforcement and if you see something, do something.
This is Coco, a Labrador Retriever/Chow mix, DOB: 11/11/11. Coco weighs 37 pounds and stands 19 inches at the shoulders. She is a neglected dog whose owner was convinced by a volunteer with Halfway to Home to relinquish her so she can find a loving Forever home. Coco is a loving girl who is timid around strangers, has not had a lot of socialization and will need time to adjust to her new environment. Lots of love, structure and good-quality human companionship will go a long way in helping Coco trust and feel secure in her new home. She should have regular daily exercise and when she is thoroughly comfortable, positive basic obedience training to help with leash training and the bonding process. Currently Coco is residing with the volunteer who rescued her and 14 dogs of various ages, breeds and sizes with no problems. She has learned to use the dog door and is house trained using the dog door. Coco is also being crate trained. For more information on Coco, please call Sandy at # 661-824-4495.🐕 .
I mean, it won't hurt will it? Life is a gamble anyway so why not. That life savings is only gonna get me about .000001% in interest a year. 😂
This is not financial advice. I'm gonna start saying that after everything post and everything I say🤣
Do you want Chulbul to face same fate (or may be worse than that) again??? Remember few days back he came to us in almost dead condition after severly hit by a vehicle..we were not even sure that where he would be able to make it that night or not...but he did...and he got a new life...This shy and calm baby truely desreve a home and not that Street again. If he will not get adopted then we will be forced to leave him on street again near his Mother and siblings but that's exactly what we don't want because we just don't want to see our Chulbul again in that condition like we had seen him for the 1st time....:( Please adopt him if you are planning to keep a pet...please take him home...agree that he is typical brown colour desi puppy...but we can guarantee you that he will make an excellent pet not less than any other breed puppy and above all you will not just take a puppy to your home...rather you will take that satisfaction of saving someone's life..
Please adopt our Chulbul.🙏🙏🙏.WhatsApp @9910210797 for the adoption process.
Can you help this poor dog who has been rescued with a broken leg? Your support would make a big difference to him as he has no owner to provide care or arrange veterinary treatment and with your help we can give all of the support he needs. Donations can be made through PayPal at firstname.lastname@example.org or through www.iapwa.org/donate. Please help if you can. Thank you x
HOPE’s first surgery and then the second. You can see on the first X-rays what the Tijuana vet has done. Then on the second one , the REAL surgery done by Dr Schulman, our orthopedic surgeon. HOPE had her second leg done yesterday and she is doing well and recovering. If you would like to make a donation for her please don’t forget to put HOPE in the notes. Thank you!!!!! ❤️🐾🐾🐾🐾
As well as little Danny in our previous post arriving to his new home today, a sweet girl called Rumi also met Yvonne Anderson in our team who is her new Mum :) Well done to Anneka Svenska, Nicoleta Stefanescu, Claudia Dumitru and Aurelian Stefan who made it possible for Rumi to find her way to her forever family. Meanwhile within our project in Penang, a gorgeous German Shepherd was adopted by a lovely family, making this a day of some great happy ever afters :)
Found these three mangy puppies just chillin on the forest road in the El Junque National Forrest. Starving and left for dead. I couldn’t just leave theme there. It’s too bad I can’t take them home. Hopefully they’ll grow up in a nice home but something tells me they won’t. PR has wild dogs everywhere and it seems to be a problem. Not sure it the a hurricane thing or not but where I’m from this issue would be resolved pronto. #animalsofinstagram#dogsofinstagram#puppiesofinstagram#feedingpeople#savingdogs
We'd like to say a huge well done to everyone who has been involved in helping this sweet pup, called Danny, to find his forever home. He was born in Romania and has been living with a kind lady called Irina. Thanks to one of our amazing Romania Ambassadors, Annie Connolly, who found out about Danny through our last visit there, he now has a family and is on his way to his new life. Safe travels Danny and not long now :) #woofwoofwednesday

I decided to put my pilots license to good use and I volunteered for an organization called Pilots n Paws! This afternoon, I helped this little man get from San Antonio to Arlington, Tx so he can be rescued by the Big Dog rescue group in Arlington. It was great flying for a purpose.
We are excited to share our latest Romania Ambassadog....the inspirational Kratu who lives with the lovely Tess Eagle Swan. Kratu was living in a gypsy camp in Romania before his life completely changed. After spending some time in foster he found his forever family with Tess who also had 3 other large breed dogs and started training with the guidance of his new Mum and Wendy Kruger (Head behaviourist at Wood Green). Kratu started to show his amazing ability to learn and went through all the Kennel Club Good Citizen Awards right through to gold. He then learnt the 'Do as I Do' programme (Claudia Fugazza training) and was the first dog in the UK to pass the exam. Following this he became a Pets as Therapy dog and has visited a home for the elderly with dementia as well as being his owners assistance dog. Kratu has won 'Best in Show' in many dog shows and is a big character with a huge heart. The word Kratu is the name of a star from the Ursa Major....the bear star. His light now shines to help others and show how amazing rescue dogs are. Kratu and Tess - We are proud to welcome you to IAPWA and for Kratu to join Olive and Toto in the Romania Ambassadog Team :)
