🌸lots of words below🌸5 packs of Premo sculpey later this is what I got. god I suck at sculpting. Anyways. Gonna do a half bake on the pieces so I can sand it down before adding more clay. Doing the leg pieces separately because I have a lot of past mistakes for sculpting dolls so I am doing the methods I have succeeded doing before. I also have my dolls with the biggest thighs to compare. Size wise, so far she is going to be 54cm without the head. And I tried to make this a standard thin, like average but a thin average. Ya'know. Like 1-2 sizes below average, but just from my art style alone she is turning out thiccccccer than a slim SD. But that's kind of just my art style, I do draw people that are more bottom heavy with unneeded literal curves. (But then again keep in mind the dolls pictured are MSD not SD like she is). May take a break after I run out of clay (3 polymer clay packs left) because I don't have the funds to buy anymore. Maybe I'll open a ko-fi account for this project to help pay for the cost of supplies. Since for that you can donate a $1 to an artist, and clay is $3cad for the polymer clay and $13cad for the air dry clay I am using. So even $1 would really help with this project. I'm estimating it will cost me $221cad more just to finish the prototype for this body based on what I'm already spent on supplies, and what I need. A great deal of the cost is epoxy and primer. Epoxy is very expensive up here and buying cheap packs from elsewhere is still expensive because of shipping costs. Legit $109 of that price tag is epoxy. The price includes the the 3d-printed pieces I'll have to order before starting the lower legs and chest joint. #bjd#artistbjd#sculpting#polymerclay#balljointeddoll#balljointeddolls#bjdwip#artwip#plantainbody
I am both inspired and in awe of the work showcased in the Instant Gallery here at at the American Association of Woodturners Symposium in Kansas City, MO. The pieces pictured are from Elisha Rubinoff. The work features both skill in turning and in sculpting. #inspiredbyothers

I used to be a huge WoW nerd (I say used to like I'm not going to get sucked back in next expansion), and I made this black war bear figure last year. This is the most detailed figure I've made - I'd love to make more stuff like this but I've been really unmotivated lately 😔 Anyone have tips for getting past mental roadblocks?
