The ancient windmills found on ridges and hilltops throughout the Aegean are so characteristic of the region, like monuments to a slower life... #slowliving#aegeanaesthetic

No words for how much I want to be back here today 🏝 we’re still suffering with general tiredness, fatigue and readjustment to work but past the halfway mark now 💪🏼 the weekend is in sight! We can do this! What’s keeping you motivated this week?
Winter is my favorite season for cross stitch. And I can’t stop making changes to the Storytime Sampler to fit in the stories we love most. 💕 This time I added Luke Skywalker and Yoda.✨ I mean, we had lightsabers at our mountainside wedding so this moment was really inevitable. 😉 #yearofmaking2018

My lifestory 9/20 ⠀
One of my early dreams was to travel. Not a package holiday to Spain - but to hitchhike, or drive through Europe in an old VW van...⠀
The latter never happened, but at 16, I took a bus to England with my boyfriend and a little blue tent, and then hitchhiked from London to Lands End. We were very young and green and I remember we fought a lot on that trip. But it was good to test out the world on our own. In London we stayed in Tent City, a great tent hostel run by young volunteers from all over the world.⠀
Two years later, I traveled to England alone - and this time I hitchhiked all the way and even spent a night in a broom closet at a gas station on the border of Germany and Belgium. From London, I went north to Yorkshire. ⠀
Many people had tried to talk me out of the trip before I left, they thought it was too dangerous to hitchhike alone - what if I was raped or even killed?! And yes, I must admit I did get into a few unpleasant situations, but I managed every time to get away from them safe and I ended up concluding that 1) I could take care of myself and 2) the world is filled with nice and helpful people who will even to do a little extra to help others.⠀
After four weeks, I met up with my boyfriend and we continued together through Wales to Dublin and around the south coast of Ireland. When we came to a little town north of Galway, we stayed a few days in a farmer's woodshed until we ran out of money. Then we hitchhiked all the way back to Denmark - as far as I remember in one long stretch. ⠀
Later, there were several trips to London, where I would stay at Tent City and I even ended up working there one summer. Afterwards I stayed for a while with my Irish boyfriend Paul, who I had met there. Some years later, a trip to Maui, Hawaii turned into a half-year stay in San Francisco and I traveled several times alone to Crete where - with the heart up my throat – I took old buses through the mountains and slept on the beach on a thin straw mat.⠀
Today I prefer to travel my travel to be a little more comfortable, but it's still something that is always high on my wish list. ⠀

Snow day! Thank goodness we got some decent snow and that Silas could get outside! It’s been far too cold with the windchills to play and cabin fever isn’t any fun!
What are you all doing for fun this winter besides eating snow?
A Slightly Foxed book is designed to be a pleasure to handle and a joy to read, valued as much for itself as an object as for the recommendations within. It's always a joy to come across fellow small businesses who, like us, beaver away their days creating thoughtfully produced, hand-crafted things to bring a little pleasure and joy to the world. The lovely people @plumandashby make the most delicious homewares: from scented candles, linens, soaps, lotions and potions, and much more besides, and we're delighted to be offering a special little something for #slightlyfoxed friends today: the chance to win a Patchouli & Smokey Rose Hand Cream and a Lime & Ginger Candle, together with a copy of many of our readers' favourite literary memoir, Helene Hanff’s '84, Charing Cross Road', the account of a transatlantic friendship (almost a love story) conducted through books.

I’ve often wrestled with the idea of success, and what it truly means to me. Whenever I seemed to reach a good point, it had only helped me realize that I had to take a few more steps. Today I see that success is a never ending journey that causes you to be what @valvoline calls #NeverIdle , which is a very interesting way to look at the drive that each of us have to pursue those dreams that we keep on dreaming. This photo was inspired by the idea that the road ahead is not always a clear one, but as long as you keep driving there will be a road. #TeamValvoline#ad
Every day, two alerts pop up on my phone. .
At 8 o'clock in the morning, I am reminded that 'No matter what gets done and how much is left undone, I am enough'.
At 10 o'clock at night, 'Yes, I am imperfect and vulnerable and sometimes afraid, but that doesn't change the truth that I am also brave and worthy of love and belonging'. .
Both are quotes by @brenebrown, designed to keep chipping away at the absurd perfectionism that I have always strived for. It's the thing that depresses me most of all about myself - when I'm late for something (I'm always late for something) or I forget to reply to a text or fail at basic adulting, I come down really hard on myself, despite knowing how much effort I put into being a loving, patient mum and step-mum, a kind and compassionate human and putting so much into my work. .
So today, a virtual bunch of flowers to say YOU ARE ENOUGH. One for me, one for you.
Good morning! Yes thats actually a little smile on Rodney's face. He loves wearing a hoodie but this one has gone a little tight after Christmas. God this dog breaks my heart ! Do you ever worry that you love a dog too much?
