"We're plugged in 24 hours a day now. We're all part of one big machine, whether we are conscious of that or not. And if we can't unplug from that machine, eventually we're going to become mindless." —Alan Lightman

When me and my mother went to visit my nanny from when I was very little, in the Philippines in 2009, my mother brought some of me and my sisters' old clothes and toys to give to her children. This is her daughter in her grandmother's home on the island of Cebu. In this year I bought my first camera and started practicing with it, shooting nearly everything I came across. I lost a lot of my photos from that time since I was very negligent with preserving my files properly, but I'm so happy I still have this photo, since it triggers such good memories. It was incredible to see my nanny again after 17 years and her reaction when she saw me was priceless. She wrote me a Christmas card later that said "you will always be that little girl to me". Even though I was very little at the time, I have incredibly vivid memories of her. Cebu, Philippines, 2009.
