Thoughts on the new costume/program touches?
1) I do like the new swirly design thing on the chest buT I am not digging the fabric so much?? Idk it just seems to me that the old costumes fabrics had more structure to them so when he did spins it didn't just flap around randomly :/ gold waistband I'm still on the fence abt but I'm leaning towards liking it. Overall it just seems a lot like the og version, but slightly brighter and flashier. It does look pretty good on the ice tho
2) I like the new choreo touches. Spiral in the middle of the program? Beautiful (I could watch him spiral for a full 4.5 min and love it tbh). Interesting and different transitions? Digging it. Hydroblade? Still on point asf and iconic. Today was definitely not the best skate nor the best we'll see of this program, and I know and we all know yuzu can do it even better and really make every tiny move count. Can't wait for future comps where there's a bigger facility than the aci one and more enthusiastic fans and better camera work lol •
Full pic on my story cos insta cropping is a lil bitch!!!!! Anyways how many of y'all are live streaming aci???? Cos I sure am!!!! Bless the time zones Montreal is only two hours ahead of me ahhhhhhhhhh the perks of being Canadian :))))
Ok this is hilarious but now that I've calmed down a bit and thought about it I'm actually glad that Yuzu's reusing Chopin. For 2015-16 WC, that program won the SP for him both times and the only reason he didn't get gold was bc of his free skate. This program has broken the WR twice and I think currently holds # 1,2 and 3 scores for SP in the world. If he ups his TES BV with the new jump layout of 4Lo, 3A, 4s-3t, and skates w the same quality as he has before, he could break new records. And tbh! I personally fricking adore this program and am super excited to see new renditions with new jump layout and new competition atmospheres and maybe new choreographic touches and costume! The last time Yuzu won the Olympics it was with a recycled Parisienne Walkways, which he'd already used the season before and had broken records with. The only other SP he has that has broken records is Chopin, so it has a fantastic track record in those terms. Plus I think the overall feeling of Chopin is easier for him to channel than for example LGC, especially in super stressful and uptight situations like the Olympics where he's serious anyways so the mood of the program will come more naturally. I'm super excited to see Chopin 3.0 on Olympic ice, and I'm glad Yuzu's doing a program he obviously loves and it v passionate about and comfortable with. That said, I hope he does get a new free program, just bc imo SEIMEI has already reached its maximum potential, and bc H&L, gorgeous and amazing as is it, is somewhat of an acquired taste and liable to be underscored in terms of PCs. Personally I don't trust the judges one bit so I think it's a great choice to use the very well-received Chopin for SP, and hopefully something that brings out all of Yuzu's charisma for the free program
