Just over here pretending it's summer in January 😎
My sore body craved a dip in #naturesicebath after a brutal, though necessary, massage Sunday , and though it took me a minute like this to muster up the guts to dunk, I spent a solid minute neck deep in lake Washington, and my body thanked me (afterward).
I want to continue to challenge myself with this cold therapy, partly because it's uncomfortable for me and pushing your comfort zone is good, but also because I love swimming, but I'm a southern girl and have struggled to enjoy swimming in NW waters, hopefully working on cold tolerance this way will amplify my summer swim time 🤞🤞✌️💦💦💦🐠🐳
Not far from the halfway mark in MAGFest album prep. I lost some time today to a long nap per my health resolution to get plenty of sleep. For that reason I can't guarantee publication today, although plugging away, projecting Wednesday instead. @spufflez #kinu#selkie#fireemblem#magfest#magfest2018
A one of a kind necklace, inspired by the tales of merpeople, the waves crashing against the raw cliffs and the sea's long forgotten treasures. ☆ﾟ.*･｡ﾟ
Made with a lot of patience, care and love, to hopefully become someone's new favorite item. ♥

Selkie Northwest: Natural Skincare from the Pacific Northwest
I believe that beauty comes from nourishing the inner and outer parts of our body. It is an ethos found in the beauty secrets of people the world over, harnessing the plants and minerals brought home through near foraging or distant trade. Selkie Northwest combines grains, oils, seaweeds, herbs and roots to craft products that cleanse, heal, treat and protect your skin.

What an epic setting for a story...
So much colour symbolism potential. Are you all as inspired as i am? Let's start a story together.
In the turquoise water under the shadow of the blue mountain a selkie named Hamsa lived by a small fishing village. Every morning the boats would go out and she remained on the beach, longing for her water home. You see, Hamsa's water skin had been stolen when she was only a girl and she was cursed to the land until her skin was returned to her. 📷 @vincedickson
Inktober 2017 [Part 1/2]
I know I already posted all these pictures, but I wanted to post them all in two posts so it wouldn't clog up my page. This is clearer.
I used @elentori 's list as my inktober list, because I love drawing mythical creatures and I adore Elentori's art.
This is more of a siren/urchin because a ceasg is so similar to a more classical mermaid with a salmon's tail.
This human/dragon hybrid has been in my head for a long time, although I keep changing it bit by bit. It's based on me, on my Chinese zodiac, which is a dragon. This is a European dragon though, not a wingless Chinese one.
I decided to draw a male witch in a traditional witch outfit.
For the love of something I cannot draw horses. This has been sketched for over twelve times and I still got the backjoint wrong. It's supposed to go < and not >. The human part is in comparison incorrect and the horse part could have more of a stomach but whatever.
I took the first colours I thought of when thinking about Scandinavia, blue and yellow, to contrast her warrior spirit with her brown outlines.
The fox was so much more trouble than it's worth. I had fun sketching it and drawing it, but in the end someone noticed it had 8 tails. Apparently somewhere between me sketching and colouring I messed up a tail?? So I had already finished it and then I had to COVER stuff to add a ninth tail! After messing up again and taking more than an hour to try and fix it, I think it turned out okay.
I concluded this creature is similar to Mother Nature, as the name might suggest. So I made her a mountain with trees, animals and a waterfall, corrupted on her left side by the industry of man.
I sketched this in 5 minutes because I don't like to draw unicorns.
With the freedom of making it have seaweed legs and a seaweed tail I wasn't too worried. Then my pen did some weird twirl and made a line where I didn't want it, so I made lines everywhere and made a radioactive kelpie, "because we mess up our seas with garbage". Truthfully just because it looks cool.
Isn't "death" appropriate for Friday the 13th?
... one of those days. Weather changed each breath & blink. Drenched. Rain, salt, spray & a tide’s cold, watched its breath rising slow off its skin. January days, 20 mins in a swimmie & no wetsuit, you swim just about through everything. This skin blueing of cold & quink steeped pewter skies. And today, relaxed, is when you can get too easy complacent. Swam longer today after the - minus minus, & lulled myself blind. Crossed from shore to shore, to visit a favourite summer bay. But hey, it’s January & not June. And this side of the island, a strong pull close to the rocks. Got a wake up in a cross tide, just as the clouds & rain closed in. And it’s great to have a work out, but sure made me look close again after at its flow. And here’s the thing. This is a hidden one. Never met its kind before. That dappling of the water, like a flit of a supple muscle, is where this stronger current lies. A glimpse of it, this image here. And I love this. And respect this. That even after a year & a half of daily raw swimming, there is still the unknown water out there. And so much more to feel & find its flow. Beautiful otter, wild duck & snipe bolting out the wet greening cliffs. And this wilder place is where it’s at. And all this stretch of unknown water of its winter, & a harder softer hidden sea’s face, still to know. From a lost cove off a wilder rock of an island. The Isle of Lios Mor. Stills ... Some tipping point inside, rests as weights & scales. Wave tip, fins supple & balance. You. Me. Ancient, beings. Of instinct & trust. Of sun, & moon. When we know, we Know. How to quick step, slow simple. Like a supple & rhythm, a fall into & of the swim. Eyes open, blinking salt, just breathing. A dance of a tune more keenly felt. And it is a wonder. How a skin can grow too thin, tight. My skin was aching. So I slipped it off. Had no choice. Just did what I had to do. Stepped clean out of it, & turned bare to the sun & the wind. Eyes lit of a gloaming. Of sky & a raw edge of horizon. Of night vision, shadow & moon. I went where I was called to go. To the wilder lonely places. Where all wild things go. To know their soul. An instinct to breathe deep. And so to learn of the senses again. Because, in the end, sometimes I wonder what else is there than this. And is a wonder. That we are of this. Are this. Each of a moment tipping over. Life is of its scenting & tasting, & of the sun & the wind, stars & moon. Of fire & ice & love of a wildling life. I go to sea to learn to be free. To dive deep into cold fresh & water, to laugh & cry & set something inside infinitely gentle free. And then when I am lit up, Cold stunned, sea drenched of a greening blueing of its silver lit, I hold that tinder gentle strong. Shelter it. Test its metal. And sing to others, do as you, me, we might dream to do. This. Was of this day. Wave tip, fins supple & balance. And of this, it was all. On a small rock of an island. The Isle of Lios Mor. Rosemary is a much-cherished symbolic and medicinal herb with a history that goes back for thousands of years. Since ancient times it was a symbol of friendship, loyalty, and remembrance. Brides wore rosemary wreathes as a symbol of their love and fidelity, believing that this beautiful herb was a gift from the goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite. In the thirteenth century, Queen Elisabeth of Hungary claimed that drinking rosemary water helped her regain her beauty and strength.
