TRAINING: (Watch with sound 🎵) Athena is a young 3-legged husky with a terrible past. Last year a shelter in San Bernardino discovered Athena wandering the streets with a mangled hind leg. She was slated for a mercy euthanasia when a husky rescue intervened. 🐾
Her medical issues were addressed, but her leg was too damaged to salvage. The husky rescue nursed Athena back to health and adopted her out to a loving forever home. 🐾
Athena’s new owners are amazing! Now that she is reasonably healthy, they are addressing her behavioral issues (ie. separation anxiety, resource guarding, rough play). Her missing leg doesn’t hold her back! 🐾
For our first session we covered separation anxiety, one of the most common yet exhausting issues! The owners have only been able to leave the house for mere minutes at a time. They are all basically housebound. 🐾
When they do leave, Athena destroys stuff and hurts herself in frantic attempts to escape. She ate the crate tray and dragged the crate across rooms. They literally had to padlock the thing—just to go out for 15 minutes for emergency groceries! 🐾
Needless to say, crate training is their number one priority! Thankfully, Athena thinks so too. We had a wonderful session where they learned how to invite her into/out of the crate. Next session is how to leave her alone in the crate. 🐾

Teef Tuesday! On this day 6 months ago, mom brought me home. She's cleaned up after me countless times (I have a drinking problem), taken me to the vet when I was sick with kennel cough, then that other incident when the sitter let me eat treats I shouldn't have and let's not talk about my #separationanxiety
Mom says it's been rough but I've enjoyed every minute with her. I could never have imagined the bond we would develop. We bring each other so much happiness 🐶💕🐷🐾 •
Look at the kindness in this little lady's eyes.
Look at how lovingly she holds her new friend.
You wouldn't think by looking at her that Miss Z has some nerves about starting school.
But that's what sucks about anxiety... You can be the most confident, sassy and adventurous little (or big) person, yet those anxious thoughts can make you feel completely overwhelmed; and so quickly, without notice, too.
Thank you for allowing me to share @happyhandshappyheart
HUGE breakthrough yesterday! After nearly 2 whole weeks of tears and just last Friday going in without crying, (but only just), Bella went into school beaming. We had tried a new strategy and made cakes together for her teachers. She was so excited to take the cakes in and show off her creations, that she didn’t worry about me leaving her in school. Fingers crossed we have now broken the cycle of screaming and she will go in happily. I am going to make sure that she has something to show the teachers each morning for the rest of the week, just to be on the safe side, but I have high hopes that we’ve turned a corner 🤞🏻#separationanxiety
We had a marvellous morning with this playful pupper, Murphy, during his behaviour consult. We've been discussing separation anxiety, fear of strangers, recall, and the benefits of muzzle and crate training.
This is me wearing my winter coat and sitting at my desk working, while Brandi is in the background on her dog bed licking coconut oil off a bully stick. Part of her training involves me doing all the things I'd normally do before leaving, but then not actually leaving. I'm starting to get hot but since it seems to be working, so must I keep doing. #dogtraining#separationanxiety#independencetraining#goodthingiworkfromhome
Last week was hard but good and I'm still recharging. Construction on the 2nd floor bachelor apartment officially started today and should be finished around Valentines day.
Needless to say, we're running on an hr's sleep tops with all the last min reno things and family visits yesterday.
This is as far as we have made it today and I'm okay with that.
My puppers needs a #mommyandme day just as much as I do.
I also made this other edit too a while ago when Sofia visited Europe. The pictures of her are when she she was in London, Paris and Spain. Meeting her was the best day of my life and I gained new friends and family. I'm so happy to be apart of the Sofia Squad team. I love them all so much.
Thank you for bringing the Sofia squad together and even though I'm not from France, they were kind enough to add me to to the squad. We have become so close these last few days all because of you Sof. We love you so much, thank you for everything. I'm so thankful to be in this beautiful family and the squad. So everytime we meet you, we represent the whole squad. We are forever yours. ❤❤❤
We are so proud to be in this squad and supporting you Sof. We love you . Thank you for always being kind and loving towards us and so supportive. It was an honour to finally meet you and your beautiful mum. Like we said, you both have beautiful and amazing hearts. Hope we can reunite again soon. We miss you so much In the UK and France ❤❤❤
