Bark of 1500 years old Sequoia, charred by fire. The bottom dark part is freshly charred, the lighter part on the center is new three growing. The bark of Sequoias is red because of tannins, a substance that protects them from fires. Which is important if you want to live 1500 years.
As you can tell this pano pic isn’t straight, that’s coz my hands and legs were shaking, my heart was pounding. I couldn’t get myself to walk to the edge of this stone, my legs just wouldn’t move. But I don’t regret that, I came all the way to the top, that was a big deal for me as I am terrified of heights. This time I went to the top and faced my fear a little, next time I will definitely try to go to the edge. #tbt#mororock#scaredofhights#sequoianationalpark
