#sewvember Sparkle: a velvet dress I made in the 80s with Grandma's sparkling crystal necklace. It was a modern big four pattern, but look at those vintage details--cut in kimono sleeves and a funnel neck. I made the dress for an award ceremony at the Waldorf because I was too broke to buy one. @moodfabrics
Day 17-IMPULSE BUY Ok the purchasing of this Clover brand thimble from the innocuous Joanne’s was not an impulse. I had been looking for a new thimble that was soft and flexible fitting over the fingertip but hard and impenetrable on the pad so i could effectively hand stitch for dare i day years???? It was the quantity that was the impulse. 8. 8 thimbles. Those who sew know I’m a genius a good thimble is nie on impossible to find. #bpsewvember#sewvember
#sewvember day 8: « winter » ❄️🌨⛄️ Although I’ve made a few coats at this point (and am currently working on one now) I think this pink one will always be a favorite! 🎀🎀🎀 Search “rosy coat” on alliemjackson.com for all the details! 💕 #bpsewvember#simplicitypatterns#simplicity1197 @simplicity_creative_group
Sewvember ~ Day Two: Sentimental ~ my most sentimental sewing project is definitely my bridesmaids’ dresses. Making dresses for these three beautiful women was so rewarding - if a touch stressful! - and they rocked them on mine and @emrysmatthews ‘s wedding day 😊❤️ which was appropriately 3 years ago today! 😘👰🏻👍🏻❤️ swipe for more details 😊#bpsewvember#sewvember#memadewedding
Dear old me: I wish you'd learned to sew when little and not on your 30s, but I am glad you did it anyway so now the present me can appreciate and cherish the lovely dresses your mum and friends made for you ❤ (the one on the left is just me dressing up and pretending I had long hair using a scarf 🙈😁)
@helloalliej Instagram takeover: Anyone else really into all the pretty outerwear this year? Today’s #bpsewvember theme is « winter » and I’m dreaming of winter coats in colorful wool! I especially like the sort of deconstructed, feminine tailoring I’m seeing—like this winter white wrap from Ralph Lauren and this fuschia beauty from J. Crew (with a 🎀 of course!). Swipe to see what patterns I would recreate them with! Are you sewing any outerwear this season? What patterns are you eyeing? Are you participating in #sewvember ? - Allie
NEW BLOG: Today we have shared a round up of new sewing pattern releases for October. Stuffed full of dressmaking inspiration, you can also see what @fionaparker17 's top three picks are and a vlog of our favourites! Link in bio #isew#indiepatterns#makersgonnamake#bpsewvember#sewvember
💀you're killing my vibe💀 "Le calze sono belle, le calze sono eleganti, le calze vanno usate in inverno per scaldarsi.
Le calze stravaganti denotano sempre personalità,
Le calze posso aiutarvi nella vita,
gli Uomini usano le calze.
Diciamo basta alla sovraesposizione di caviglie bianche e similvillose;
usate le calze, per l'amor del cielo!" ✔
Dopo questa, a mio avviso, necessaria quanto doverosa divagazione ricordo che per gli ordini natalizi 🎄 avrete a disposizione ancora pochi giorni, tic tac il tempo stringe🕜🕐🕧 #natisullauna#xmas#order#present#artigianato#socks#calze#sew#sewingaddict#sewingproject#sewing#coudre#sewphotohop#sewvember

#bpsewvember : 2018 : What’s my goal for 2018? Do you remember this dress? This was actually an experiment for the real dress I was supposed to make, consider it a wearable toile of sorts. I got this fabric over two years ago but haven’t made the leap to draft and design my final vision. Maybe I’m afraid of making a mistake and running out of fabric. I have completed a game plan, my sketches and notes are floating around somewhere. All I need is to drum up some excitement but after all that hand appliqué to make this design symmetrical, I was kind of over it. Happy Holidays everyone! November has been quite a thrill sharing and connecting with all of you.
My last #sewvemberchallenge post (I promise after today I will only post interesting progress pictures!). It’s getting there - I hacked 4 inches off the bottom and in much happier with the length. It still needs a little tweaking but it’s packed to go to Mom’s house with me tomorrow so I can get her expert help. Thank you @theremnantwarehouse for this great challenge (and for naming me a runner up! I can’t wait to pick some fabric to use my discount on!). #sewing#sewvember#sleepyseamstress#terriscoat#memadewardrobe#ididit

Okay, so I pooped out of #sewvember about a week in to the challenge, but it doesnt mean I wasn't busy sewing. Tis the season for holiday craft shows after all. But, I wanted to end the month on a laugh. Thanks, @tinytwirlingseamstress !
#bpsewvember day thirty: 2018.
Next year I plan on doing more vintage sewing, more pants, and at least one jacket. I also plan on making even more sewing friends and posting more on the blog. Lastly, I plan on doing more of these fun sewing Instagram challenges. Much thanks to @bimbleandpimble for getting this organized! (Without sewvember, how will I know what day of the month it is?!) Also, this red felt, ribbon, and netting concoction is today's entry for @faces_and_style #weekOfHats . #faces_and_style
Day 30 of #bpsewvember : 2018! I'm starting 2018 off with a 3 day sewing course with @sewalison! I absolutely cannot wait, and have already started thinking about what I want to focus on, as well as what I'm hoping to learn. I want to sew smarter, with less silly mistakes and complete more garments that I'm proud to wear! Thank you so much for hosting this fab challenge, @bimbleandpimble. How is #sewvember over already?! #memade#bpsewvember#dressmaking#seamstress#isewmyownclothes
welcome to my new page for sewing, dressmaking and costumes! this page is run by @frenchy.kiss and i will hopefully be adding more new projects to this page soon! 🌟
this dress is for an upcoming cinderella pantomime. i was commissioned to create a version of cinderella’s pink dress that the stepsisters destroy. the skirt shown is attached with velcro and can be ripped off to reveal a ragged underskirt. the bow and chiffon sleeves are also attached with velcro for easy removal. i’m excited to see how this dress performs on stage, and i’ll post more in-depth photos soon when the dress is returned after the show. 👠
One style arc sunny top finished! It only took a few hours and is oh-so-snuggly!! It's 33°c here at the moment, but when the weather drops in a few days (#melbourneweather ) I'll post an action shot! Lovely fabric from the fabric store

Day Three of #meetthemakerweek by @joannehawker
WHERE, WHEN & WORKSPACE.
Here is a quick photo from my desk yesterday afternoon.
I have a lovely designated working space specifically for hand rendered work and a separate area for digital work. Although they both inform each other, I like to keep a little space between them. Totally influenced by @austinkleon
This is a small scale project I am working on currently. Test pieces for potential larger works.
What did the hat say to the sock? “I’ll go on ahead, you go on foot”. 😂😝 🎩🧦 #handmadedress#confettidress
Fabric: @spotlightstores @laurablythman
P.S. People often ask me where my handbag is from - @gabs.official Gabs bags are Italian made with refined materials and shiny colours, convertible in different forms and volumes.
So behind on #sewvember not going to try and catch up on all of them. So stylelines...it changes, but right now I am in love with the style lines of the late 1910's earlier 1920's. You can see the flapper developing but not quite there. I love the fashion at the cusp of decades. I miss making historical garments but I am gearing up to do one just because I can. One other area of interest for me just now is the teddy girls of the 1950's, giving moxie by mixing up Edwardian stylelines with rock'n'roll. Might incorporate some of that in to my next few makes.
Success is making something for someone else and they love it. #sewvember @bimbleandpimble
#bpsewvember day twenty-eight: success!
I'm still quite excited about the success of my first me-made pair of jeans and how well they fit on my "caboose"! Featuring another vintage seventies hand-me-down sweater and hat from my mum.
Last month, I made quite a few things that I didnt even bother mentioning that they were for my "Treat Yo'self" sewing challenge. This month, I kept it really simple, and made a circle skirt and matching headband. Didn't forget the pockets, of course! It's been a warm week, so I got away with this outfit 😊
Finished size 12 @oliverands #sunnydayshorts lengthen by 3 inches.
She is on the slim side but size 10 sunnyday shorts I made earlier this year fit her just right about now and I worried it would be too small in a few months. It looks ginormous around her hip and tummy but I guess she will grow into it. 🤔
Fabric is linen from @spotlightstores.
Ok peeps - I’m frustrated and I don’t know if what I’m unhappy with is my body or my sewing. It’s going to be a winter coat so I know it needs more ease than a dress, but I feel like it looks like a circus tent (I know part of that is just because it’s muslin and not my fabric). It needs to be MUCH shorter. Anyone have any thoughts on ease? I added four inches, which I thought was fairly standard, but I think it’s way too much. #sewvemberchallenge#sewvember#sewing#sewingsuggestions#sewinghelpneeded @theremnantwarehouse
