Unfortunately, the Yuzu Salmon Bowl ($12.90) wasn't as great as I remember it to be. To be fair, the last I had was the Truffle Short Rib Bowl which was absolutely melt in your mouth. But this one... The salmon was overcooked & dry. Rice was mushy & the proportion is just way off - ordered some sides from a neighbouring stall just so I could finish the rice (tbh, I was still hungry as well), & even after that I still had rice left over.
If I do order from this stall again, I'd probably get the Truffle Short Rib Bowl & hope that it still is as good as it used to be.
Lucky for me, I didn’t have to brave the queue as my brother was in the mood for some Le Castella cakes on his off-day. But that also means I only got to taste it a couple hours after the purchase. Hence, there was no waft of strong steamy egg aroma from the box and I can just imagine how it will taste like when freshly out of the oven.
Having said that, both the Original Castella ($9.90) and Cheese Castella ($11.90) were certainly soft and spongy (but no longer jiggly, sad).The Original was pleasantly eggy and very much similar to Chinese steamed egg cakes. And faring slightly better, the Cheese Castella had the added element of savouriness that many have reviewed and raved. Layered with melted cheese, it does break the monotony of the uniformly sweet taste of the cakes. However, light, fairly moist and not overly sweet, the thick slabs would go great with a cup of tea that’s for sure. The exterior also boast a mild toasted flavour to complement the eggy sponge interior.
Overall, sating my curiosity, I won’t be travelling down to Tampines anytime soon just for this.

10pcs sushi $15 • 80% of a good sushi depends on the sushi rice no matter how fresh the fish is. The fish here is fresh but fail terribly on the rice. It is so compact and mashed and sticky it became one whole giant grain that taints the taste of the fish they might as well just serve the rice. It's so disappointing given how highly raved this place is.
