"Shadow Puppetry is said to have originated in China over two thousand years ago during the Han Dynasty. The most popular origin legend tells of Emperor Han Wudi who was rendered irrevocably heartsick at the sudden passing of his favorite concubine. As the Emperor’s wisest advisor pondered the best way to revive the Emperor’s spirits, he came upon children playing in the courtyard with parasols under the midday sun. Their simple parasols cast shadows that were so lifelike, he was struck with an illuminating idea. That night, the advisor invited the Emperor to the courtyard for a special performance; there he conjured the likeness of the late Empress with such mastery that the Emperor was revived and went on to rule for many prosperous years. And while the origin legend is certainly more fiction than fact, it speaks to the historic power of the shadow" chineseshadowpuppetry.com music by @sodagardocki @ginrummyshow #ginrummyshow#vintagelife#americanpickers#shadowdance#handmade
So glad I rode today. I love being outside! The energy in the air feels magical. The forest and the mountain are so beautiful.
Riding is a moving meditation. Recently, I've been thinking about this year and what I want to let go of and what I want to bring in to my life for the next year - I'm certain I want more outdoors time, more writing, more community and connection (and spirituality and creativity in community), magic, art, music, financial ease, compassion, love, travel and more fun. I want to let go of self-doubt, negative attitudes toward my body, blocks and obstacles to creativity, spirituality and love, and time wasters. I've been looking at Shadow and am finding ways to dance with it rather than pretending it isn't there.
Some projects are bubbling under the surface - and - (finally) I will be getting around to workshops and retreats that I've been wanting to do for years. I'm feeling hopeful and excited! #gratitude#bikelove#mtnbikegirl#shadowdance#personalpower#treehugger#ecosexual#mountainbike
Dec 12-14. Finished Angela Carter's first novel today. not my favorite but I still enjoyed it. Added a mass of white thread to represent Ghislaine's scar. I wish we had learned more about her, but I guess that was the point.
