Prospector S. E. Osborn is the first known to have entered Balcony House in the spring of 1884. His name and the date have been found in a dwelling in lower Soda Canyon. Jesse Nusbaum excavated Balcony House in 1910. Nusbaum was not only an accomplished archeologist, he was also one of the first superintendents of Mesa Verde National Park. - NPS website⠀

Channel Islands NP - Santa Cruz Island. Great hike around the island this summer. Heard they had some hotshots drop in to put out a small fire from a lightening strike recently!! #california#pacific#island @channelislandsnps

🖼 Title: Fast Track
📝 Reminiscing on our Australia adventures and the memories of watching this mother lay her eggs. After 2.5 hours of exhausting digging, she took off fast back into the Great Barrier Reef. Nature never ceases to amaze us!
This weekend @alexspaeth and I headed to Olympic National Park and went on a much-needed camping adventure. Our hike to the coastal campsite was a brief 1 mile, which meant we could take our time hiking there and then enjoy an afternoon lounging on the beach. I relished this opportunity to sit back, relax, and take in and appreciate the scenes that unfolded before us: waves crashing into sea stacks, fog rolling onto shore and almost immediately dissipating, and countless of these tide pools that seemed to be a tiny little world of their own!
Let me tell you, not all patios are created equal. This is one place we will be coming back to and bringing more friends along for the experience. 19 total people can stay at this incredible all inclusive Backcountry Lodge, who's in for next year? I'd love to fill the place up!
