I want to offer some encouragement tonight and remind you that God takes broken and makes it whole. He takes pain and makes it passion. He takes heartbreak and makes it purpose. Of all the beauty there is to experience in this life, this reality has got to be among the most beautiful to me. Rest tonight in the knowledge that we serve a God who turns even the most dire circumstances around and works all things together for our good. Rest with the knowledge that we serve a God who makes everything beautiful in its time– He is the God who makes all things new.

True story: I used to want to hide my arms because they weren’t toned and I felt they looked ....ew. Feel me?
•••
Other than the tummy area, women struggle most with their bat wings! Especially after 30 when everything starts to slow down.
•••
Dieting won’t necessarily help this since you can’t spot treat fat loss, although a high protein and good fat diet does help a bit.
•••
Getting your body to produce HGH through lean muscle production will do wonders for this trouble spot! How do you do this?
• get enough quality sleep
• keep stress lowered
• practice intermittent fasting and cut out too much sugar
• implement a strength training routine that you follow 3-5 times a week (don’t be afraid of weights!)
•••
All these together will definitely have your arms tank top ready all year!

“May God Himself recover and restore what the enemy has stolen. May He heal family rifts, renew tired relationships, and revive weary faith. May He give you the kind of rest you need so you can regain a fresh perspective. May He give you wisdom in boundaries and humility in love. May He show you what's yours and grace you to release what isn't. May you know-beyond a shadow of a doubt that nothing and no one can separate you from God's love. Walk in humble, hopeful faith today!” {Susie Larson}

Can you remember going to God with some form of annoyance or ‘righteous anger’, feeling or thinking that you absolutely only want to respond one way and one way only to this particular circumstance, only to find that God suggests something entirely different. Something which flies in the face of your flesh.

I can imagine wanting to pout and sulk and that I would feel absolutely justified in doing so. But there’s that still, small voice which rises up alongside that bad attitude isn’t there? That voice which reminds you that you’re not your own and that you were bought with a price.

There’s that reminder of the cross and the price Jesus paid. All of sudden your pity party starts to feel more and more difficult to attend, doesn’t it? 💜

I recently took Michael Hyatt’s LifeScore Assessment, I’m a sucker for quizzes, tests and assessments at the best of time so I couldn’t say no to trying this one and actually, I thought it was intuitive, simple and had a good level of ‘face validity’. So in my latest blog post I share a little bit on my results but mostly on what I learnt from them, how it’s going to inform my 2018 goals and why I think this is a great starting tool to help you make amazing shifts in 2018 (and no I’m not an affiliate, I genuinely liked this tool!) 😊😊😊 You can read the blog post - see link in bio

It really blows my mind how God can answer prayer like this so quickly! Open your WFT and read this whole weeks devotions, they are so inspiring! If you don't get UCB Word for today, Why not? It's so incredible and its COMPLETELY FREE!!! Go onto:

I wonder if Esther ever daydreamed about how simple her life was before she became queen. I’m sure she never had to put her life on the line to save a whole nation of people when she was living at home. Probably mostly house chores and running to the market for the days food and grain. After a year of living in Kenya and working for a church full time I am grateful for the simplicity that I have found in my life now. But I feel that this rest is for this time, and that there will come a season again of putting my neck on the line for God’s purpose. He has a season for everything.

{friday introductions}
Good morning, friends! We made it to Friday 😁. And if you've been around IG for long you know Fridays are for intros and random facts, especially with all the new faces that stop by each week. It's a chance to connect names with faces of the ones we've been encouraging all week long ❤. And don't mind me getting choked up looking back at this pic of my boy starting the big K this year😭... .
.
Fact: I've only ever been out of the country once (not counting Canada, right?!🤷🏼‍♀️). I had the chance in college to travel to Ireland to work with at-risk youth. Oh my word, talk about gorgeous! But next on the bucket list? Australia 🙌🏻😁. Where have you traveled to?! #fridayintroductions

1 John 1 - God is light and there is no darkness in Him at all. This stuck out to me after I read that the Lord appealed to the senses. Verse one states, “We SAW Him with our own eyes and TOUCHED Him with our own hands.” Later, in verse 3, it talks about how the disciples HEARD...all so we may have fellowship with believers and share in divine joy.

We do not read about tasting and smelling, maybe for good reason, but we can assume those senses were also included. Perhaps
because I am an experiential learner, the senses appeal to me. I guess I have to learn the "hard way", if the hard way means I rarely take anyone's word for it. I have to actually experience a thing myself. Entering a personal relationship with God was no different.

I had to have a very real experience with Jesus, and many to follow, in order for my belief to grow deep and wide. God was patient with me and I am grateful. He knew me and loved me right where I was and was not offended by my need to EXPERIENCE Him instead of taking stories at face value.

As time has gone on and my heartfelt devotion has grown, I have become more of an embodiment of Him and less of myself (although I know there's a lot of me left). This is a supernatural progression of our relationship.

Since He is the Light, IN HIM we become the same light, His radiance casting out our shadows (sin), as we turn more from what we learn is not like Him (see verse 9.)

Christmas is a time when we many of us break out nativity scenes of adorable baby Jesus laying on golden straw, surrounded by Mary and Joseph, some cute sheep and lambs, and a few friendly shepherds. We do this because while we instinctively know that Jesus’ first century birth was not clean or sanitary by modern standards, we want it to look as inviting as possible. But when we do this, we also risk inadvertently sanitizing the Good News of the story. Let me explain.
On a trip to the Holy Land, I had the chance to meet a shepherd herding her sheep. Yes, I said “her”, because in the Middle East, shepherds are culturally most often the young girls of the family—unless there are no daughters, in which case it falls to the youngest son (like David). As I approached the flock—and especially the lamb in this image—the smell was overpowering, even from a distance. In the first century, this smell marked a shepherd as an outcast. Author Alexander Shaia says; “To smell like sheep was the mark of shame. When you smell of sheep, everyone knew you were to be avoided.” But God chose to announce the birth of His son to these smelly, outcast shepherds, and even sent angles to invite them to see Jesus!
THIS IS THE GOOD NEWS—that Jesus left the comfort of heaven to welcome the outcast, and the shamed. He came to be a shepherd—to be surrounded by his sheep, to carry us on his shoulders. He came into our mess to smell like sheep.
Are you feeling outcast today? Do you carry shame and guilt? Is your life a mess? Then the Christmas story is for you!

ALL NATIONS SHALL FIND PEACE by Erin Davis
It was December 1914, and World War I was just beginning to shake the globe to its core. Both Allied and German forces had already dug and settled into their frozen trenches on the Western Front.

Yet, on Christmas Day, as the sun rose on the battlefield, hope rose with it. A few brave German soldiers crested the trenches they’d fought from hours earlier and crossed into enemy territory shouting Christmas greetings. In response, British and German soldiers met in “No Man’s Land.” They shook hands, sang Christmas carols, played soccer, and exchanged small gifts of comfort. An unofficial Christmas truce declared, weapons were temporarily laid down, symbolically traded in for goodwill and human dignity. As the sun set on Christmas night, soldiers retreated back to their trenches and the horrific fighting continued. It was a wonder not been repeated in any conflict since.
Threats are never ending. Wars rage in our hearts, in our homes, and around the globe. Because of this, the words of the prophet Micah feel like a fairytale—sweet but out of reach: "They will beat their swords into plows and their spears into pruning knives. Nation will not take up the sword against nation, and they will never again train for war. But each person will sit under his grapevine and under his fig tree with no one to frighten him." - Micah 4:3-4
At least for a moment, we want to forget the war and consider all that is merry and bright. These dueling mindsets—hopelessness that the fighting will end and our longing to lay our weapons down all together—are reconciled through Christ. There is only joy for the world because of the war Jesus fought and won on our behalf.
At the cross, Jesus entered the war to end all wars. It was a battle to the death. Like a soldier who goes to war for the good of his country, Jesus surrendered Himself, warred against sin, and won.
The peace treaty has been signed in blood, secured by the Savior who arrived as a baby in a manger. This war will not rage forever. Because of Jesus, one day there will be no more enemy lines to cross. #advent2017 #shereadstruth

December 15 (GIVEAWAY two posts back) -
Trust in the Lord and do what is right! Settle in the land and maintain your integrity! —Ps 37:3
-
The word trust is the heart word of faith. It is the Old Testament word, the word given to the early and infant stage of faith. The word faith expresses more the act of the will, the word belief the act of the mind or intellect, but trust is the language of the heart. The other has reference more to a truth believed or a thing expected.
-
Trust implies more than this, it sees and feels, and leans upon a person, a great, true, living heart of love. So let us “trust also in him,” through all the delays, in spite of all the difficulties, in the face of all the denials, notwithstanding all the seemings, even when we cannot understand the way, and know not the issue; still “trust also in him, and he will bring it to pass.” The way will open, the right issue will come, the end will be peace, the cloud will be lifted, and the light of an eternal noonday shall shine at last.
-
“Trust and rest when all around thee
Puts thy faith to sorest test;
Let no fear or foe confound thee,
Wait for God and trust and rest. “Trust and rest with heart abiding,
Like a birdling in its nest,
Underneath His feathers hiding,
Fold thy wings and trust and rest.”

December 15 (GIVEAWAY two posts back) - Trust in the Lord and do what is right! Settle in the land and maintain your integrity! —Ps 37:3 - The word trust is the heart word of faith. It is the Old Testament word, the word given to the early and infant stage of faith. The word faith expresses more the act of the will, the word belief the act of the mind or intellect, but trust is the language of the heart. The other has reference more to a truth believed or a thing expected. - Trust implies more than this, it sees and feels, and leans upon a person, a great, true, living heart of love. - “Trust and rest when all around thee Puts thy faith to sorest test; Let no fear or foe confound thee, Wait for God and trust and rest. “Trust and rest with heart abiding, Like a birdling in its nest, Underneath His feathers hiding, Fold thy wings and trust and rest.” - ⏩⏩Check out the GIVEAWAY two posts back!! - #streamsinthedesert  #daily  #dailyBible  #bible  #jesus  #god  #holyspirit  #dailydevotional  #devotional  #positive  #photo  #picoftheday  #spiritual  #scripture  #verse  #thankyou  #thanks  #100followers  #shareyourstory  #share  #favorite  #giveaway  #shereadstruth  #hereadstruth  #win  #follow  #friend
ADVENT 2017: JOY TO THE WORLD: DAY 13
All Nations Shall Find Peace
by GUEST WRITER

TODAY'S TEXT: MICAH 4:1-7, PSALM 46:4-11, ISAIAH 53:4-12

The ceasefire promised in Scripture is not a fairytale. It’s not a bedtime story incapable of granting us more than temporary comfort. The peace treaty has been signed in blood, secured by the Savior who arrived as a baby in a manger. This war will not rage forever. Because of Jesus, one day there will be no more enemy lines to cross.

“There is only joy for the world because of the war Jesus fought and won on our behalf....
“At the cross, Jesus entered the war to end all wars. His was not a quiet sit-in or a peaceful protest. It was a battle to the death. Like a soldier who goes to war for the good of his country, Jesus surrendered Himself, warred against sin, and won.”

Your laughter, it echoes like a joyous thunder. Your whisper, it warms me like a summer breeze. Your anger, is fiercer than the sun in its splendor. You’re close, yet full of mystery.
And ever since the day that I saw Your face, try as I may, I cannot look away. May my life be one unbroken gaze, fixed upon the beauty of Your face.
-
This song, still gets me every time after all these years. How majestic, mysterious, beautiful is our Jesus! 🙌🏻🔥❤️

#Micah 4:1-7, #Psalm 46:4-11, #Isaiah 53:4-12: "It was December 1914, and World War I was just beginning to shake the globe to its core. Both Allied and German forces had already dug and settled into their frozen trenches on the Western Front...on Christmas Day... A few brave German soldiers crested the trenches they’d fought from... and crossed into enemy territory shouting Christmas greetings. It was a wonder not been repeated in any conflict since.... When those first soldiers started singing in 1914, the others must have thought it was a trick. They couldn’t fathom an end to the fighting, even for a single day. As we sit in the trenches, we feel the same jaded weariness. We cannot imagine an end to the suffering, the wars, the death, and the heartache. Yet, I am confident that as soldiers looked across the battlefield that Christmas, they didn't want to see carnage. Neither do we. At least for a moment, we want to forget the war and consider all that is merry and bright. These dueling mindsets—our hopelessness that the fighting will end and our longing to lay our weapons down all together—are reconciled through Christ.... At the cross, Jesus entered the war to end all wars.... Like a soldier who goes to war for the good of his country, Jesus surrendered Himself, warred against sin, and won. The ceasefire promised in Scripture is not a fairytale. It’s not a bedtime story incapable of granting us more than temporary comfort. If you know me, you know I am a lover of all things Christmas. From having family all around, to the music, annual gingerbread competitions, surprising my loved ones with gifts, and celebrating my Savior, it’s always been my favorite time of the year.
.
But if I’m being really honest, getting into the holiday spirit this year has been tough for me. It’s not that there’s one specific thing that’s happened, or that I’m not grateful for everything that the Lord has done this year... it’s just life, and all of the ups and downs that come along with the journey. And right now, I’m somewhere in the middle of those ups and downs - maybe you can relate.
.
So tonight, instead of reflecting on my situation, I’m reflecting on the faithfulness of my King. Of a love that never ceases through every high and low season. Of a sacrifice so unconditional and pure, that my heart can’t help but overflow with gratitude when I stop and think about it.
.
Listen, this season may be hard for you; you may be dealing with loss, hardships, grief, or maybe just adjusting to life changes. Your situation may not be perfect, but He is. And He walks with you, always. 💛

On my morning walk the other day I looked around and was overcome with wonder by the majestic grandeur of creation and all of its minuscule details. 🍃❄️🌎
It reminded me that my God is the author of everything and that we, who are made in his image all are little creators. We all have ideas, dreams and talents and you are invited to step out into those things.
🍃❄️🌎
My prayer for you today is that God may breathe life into the things you create, into the words you speak, the acts of kindness you extend. 🍃❄️🌎

Pic from an amazing holiday in Athens, Greece!
The sun goes up, then goes down again which means the same things that have happened will surely be done again (Ecc 1:5). I choose to see this as an opportunity (or as the Greek say 'fitting time') rather than the same old thing happening every day.
When the sun rises, the flowers lift their face towards it. The same way that when we rise, we have the opportunity to lift others. I follow some great accounts on here that lift me everyday! Hope your week has been great.

When I first met Ryan, I didn’t really want anything to do with him. True story! He was a nice guy, but that’s all I saw from my end. However, Ryan decided to pursue my heart with a lot of intention. He was persistent and polite, and never once did he force his way... but his pursuit intrigued me so I offered him a chance. There’s two things I want to say to you girls out there:
1. If a guy wants to date you or get to know, he WILL pursue you. You won’t have to second-guess his moves because a real man will make it obvious. Ryan was not the smoothest of men, but his dorkiness was apart of his charm. ☺️
2. Give the guy a chance! He has taken a big step and mustered up the courage to ask you out, so go out for coffee or lunch... worst case scenario? You become friends.
.
Do you have a funny date/how we met story? I’d love to hear! 💗

Trusting in God is active: it often involves taking grand leaps of faith. As you work diligently toward each goal placed on your heart, remember to lean heavily on God. Cherish this: "In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, 'You have faith; I have deeds.' Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds..." (James 2:17-18;26). Read more of "Trusting the Plan" on page 16 of Valour Issue 5. Today, clothe yourself with love. It's the prettiest thing you can wear. ❤️
___
So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.
