Tonight is my first night back to work after vaca. First shift is always the hardest 😓. Starting it off with a good freaking attitude, though. I have lots to be thankful for, one of them being a stable job! Woke up, had coffee from my new mug, read & set my mind right for the day, and now I'm getting my workout on! 🖤 oh, and it finally feels like fall?!!
Last week was full of bad choices, feeling unwell 💩, Netflix binging, unmotivated and just lazy AF...at least I kept the Lil humans fed and alive 😆 so that’s a win! Adulting can be pretty exhausting and sometimes we just need to toss that ongoing to do list aside and kick back have a drink or two 🍹🍷 It’s a new week so I started it right with one of my easy go to breakfasts 🍳 2 eggs, sautéed asparagus in coconut oil with everything spicy seasoning from @flavorgod

Good morning. This week is when my challenge really begins. I have been reading articles from the nutritionalist @the_healthy_shift_worker who has discovered that the reason why many night shift workers gain weight from nights is due to the eating patterns. Our digestive system is trying to rest at night. So ordering a pizza is at 3am is not going to do us any good as our metabolism is lower... No matter how much physical energy you feel you have used up. So now is the time for me to document what I eat during my night shift patterns. Before I started the Whole30, my snacks for working night shift looked quite different! I would typically take chips and chocolate and maybe even pop!!
Tonight is my first night shift while doing the Whole30, I'm on day 27 BTW, and these are the snacks I'm taking tonight!!
A banana with some cashew butter, a hard boiled egg, sliced red peppers, a mix of roasted cashews and raw almonds, and a Nākd bar!! Quite the difference!!
I shared this picture with a lady I met and she was blown away 😮 by the difference she saw from Day 1 to Day 11 of this nutrition program I'm following. To be honest, I'm super impressed too and can't wait to see my final results after another week. And to think these results didn't require intense exercise either is pretty amazing! 😃

I love to go camping in the mountains. It's so nice to be able to unplug from reality and explore something so incredible. It makes all your problems seem small when all you have is what you managed to hike up the mountain with you. I love the challenge and it makes you appreciate your body and what it can do when you push it to its limits. Once you make it to the top you're body is exhausted but you don't even notice when all you're feeling is liberation and accomplishment as you take in a killer view. It makes you respect mother nature and realize you and your problems are not so significant after all. It's humbling. This is part of #mynursinglifestyle
I work 12 hour shifts. I'm out of the house for 13 hours a day for it.
I've got 2 kids to take care of.
I've got an at home business.
I've got autoimmune disease and faulty collagen causing me daily pain in random places.
I've got a body that doesn't always work like it's supposed to.
I figure it out.
Don't let "I can't" control your life. We ALL have challenges in life. But that's all they are. Just a challenge. A different way of getting there. If you really want something, figure it out. Then just WATCH how amazing life can be. 💖
Best breakfast ever! Shakeology with "Focused Boost" to keep me going through the kids hockey schedule this weekend! 👉🏻7 games 👉🏻1 practice 👉🏻2 hours at the raffle/bake sale table for our home tournament 👉🏻 sewing on name bars for two kids on home and away jerseys 👉🏻and a shift worker hubby this weekend! 👉🏻 plus the usual Sunday chores.... laundry, lunches, dishwasher... 👉🏻oh and did I mention we just got a new puppy!?!?! Lol!

Another meal prep Sunday! Here we have 9 portions of soup, butternut squash and tomato, 9 portions of lentil Dahl, and 8 of mixed bean chilli. Most of this will be going in the freezer, once cool enough. The soups will be for work lunches and the curry and chilli make coming home from work much easier. In a house with two shift workers, setting aside an hour or two at the weekend makes our lives heaven. This food prep will go on to last a couple weeks and more for the curry and chilli’s.
