This is a flare up of my digestive track that is paralyzed in action.

My stomach & small intestines (gastroparesis & chronic intestional pseudo obstruction) in this incident believe their may be an obstruction within. The bloating can make my belly swell 10, 20, 30 inches out.  The flare ups happen at random. They are debilitatingly painful physically. Many complications follow. 
Emotionally & mentally they are trying as well. This is the root of so many feelings & stories I subconsciously created about myself being unlovable,  unworthy, undesired as well as broken, a burden and damaged. 
I thought this break down of my system meant I was weak. How wrong I was! Dec will be 25 years I have dealt with my diseases. That takes a true warrior, a non stop badass, a force like no other. 
I share this because people ask what can happen, what its like, why did my self hate have such am intense grip on me.  So im here to share, to educate, to inspire and to give hope to someone suffering.  We are never what is happening to us. Our bodies are doing so much right. Send them love. I always say, if i am breathing my body is doing enough right for me to make a difference. Xo

Easing back into my workout routine by adding some light weights today. ๐Ÿ’ช Many of the others in my accountability group were sharing my how heavy they were using today for our upper body routine and here I am pushing up 5's! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘No excuses. I'm still trying! .

It's all good in my hood tho because I'm not worried about what others are used my I'm just focused on me. ๐Ÿ’ฏ After I was able to get thru the workout without tweaking my back I felt pretty proud and accomplished! It's surely not my best performance but I feel amazing because my back still feels good!! And that means I'm making progress!! .

This dinner took less than five minutes to prepare and one hour roasting in the oven. One hour free to do other things! Drum sticks on top of Rainbow carrots in an oven pan, a drizzle of olive oil, sea salt and lemon pepper. Last night I checked out @lingerdenver with my parents. I always hear good things about this place and they're a sister restaurant to my fav @rootdownden .
They were super accommodating to my diet (more on how I find places below). I had the fajitas (bottom of the first picture) and the chicken satay salad (second pic). I even indulged and had chocolate Taiwanese shaved ice for dessert (๐Ÿ˜ฌeek paying for that today ha)

How do I find restaurants I can eat at? First I research what places definitely accommodate  gluten free and review their menu to see if there's things I think could be modified. Then I always call the restaurant and say I'm interested in eating at your establishment but I have several food allergies and I want to know if you'd even be able to work with me. I run down the list of what I can't eat (gluten, dairy, nightshades, garlic, onion. Since I don't often eat out I don't stress as much about gluten-free grains and all high FODMAP foods. You gotta live a little). if somewhere says they can't accommodate that's fine and I move on. But usually they'll check with the chef, make a note of my allergies and then I make a reservation. When I go in everyone is usually aware because the note has been made but I also talk to the waitress and confirm. So far in Denver they've been extremely accommodating, always know what nightshades are and all the weird things I can't have and they work to make an enjoyable experience for me

Moral of the story: call ahead and don't be afraid to ask! .

Butternut squash is a high/moderate fodmap, so if you follow that just start slow. Steam it & add some ghee & cinnamon ๐Ÿคค๐Ÿคค๐Ÿคค does anyone else almost chop your hand off each time you try to cut a squash? Or is it just my shitty knives? lol. Lately I've been stabbing holes, roasting some then letting cool and cutting/gutting THEN roast again lol. All the work is worth it ๐Ÿคค๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

I remember that it wasn't easy when I first started learning about "clean" eating. I was an overwhelmed, busy, full time working, newer mom and had never even heard the phrase clean eating before. So how on earth was I supposed to have time to add one more thing to my plate when all I really wanted some was new workout videos. Sound familiar?.

When I was asked to be part of a clean eating group to go along with my workouts I was like "NO way! ๐Ÿ™…I don't need it, ๐Ÿ›‘I'm totally fine on my own, ๐Ÿšซno thanks. ๐Ÿ˜". Well, I got added in anyway. lol At first, I didn't participate and was literally a fly on the wall. I mean, I was only using Facebook to scroll pics of my friends and barely had 100 people on my list. Then, I got curious with all these happy faces ๐Ÿ˜…posting how much they enjoyed their workouts and what they were eating and drinking ๐Ÿด and I was like, "hmm, I worked out hard today, maybe I should post that to the group". .

And, so I did. And the craziest thing happened....All these people who I never met started virtually high fiving me, congratulating me and supporting me! Wow! It was such a cool experience!.

Quartered lime (optional)
Chopped jalapeรฑo 
As much organic ๐ŸŽcider vinegar as u like
As much liquid aminos as you like
1.5L mineral water

Place chicken and any additional vegetables you want in saucepan.

Cover saucepan with 1.5L water, cook on low heat & stir.

About 4 hrs later, remove bones + skin from mixture, leaving only the meat. Add in whichever herbs and condiments you like, then cover and keep cooking on low for another 4-10 hours (longer the better).

Tell-the-Truth-Tuesday:

Yesterday's schedule: Everyone woke up EARLY and cramped my style. Recovered the house from the weekend. Seriously, how does it get that bad in a day?? Took Little to new GI Dr. for his persistent nausea (for now we're treating it like acid reflux and going from there). Ran around town getting his labs and meds and papers for the twins to go to outdoor ed in a few weeks. Pharmacy. Home for a split second and off to PT across town for Liv's ankle that's still feeling bad. Back home for another split second before taking the new 9 yr old to his soccer game. Home. Bedtime. Team call. Night night. 
Every day has been like that lately.... So many appointments. So many bills. So many not feeling great situations. All minor compared to what it could be, I know, but exhausting nonetheless. And I'm not feeling 100% this week again either which has me discouraged. It all adds up to one big stress! 
One of my health goals has been to honor my body. Sometimes I think that's harder than pushing my body. But it's certainly just as important. 
Like I said in my last post.... a few boring days in a row wouldn't hurt!! โค๏ธ

Which Magnesium is best? Virtually everyone is deficient of Mg and no amount of green vegetables is enough. I've tried bath salts, flakes, oils, Natural Calm, magnesium citrates and L-Threonate (Magtein). The bath salts are nice and relaxing but how many baths can you realistically take? Natural Calm and other varieties are nice to sleep but if you take slightly over what your body can take then it's diarrhea for days. This is a major downside for most all oral magnesium. The oil- loved it for a while but It's really really sticky and stingy on the skin at times-not pleasant, I just want to shower it off me. Winner is..L-Threonate(Magtein)! Both my husband and I sleep better at night, less muscle aches, alertness, general feeling of well being during the day-and with zero side effects. His #restlesslegsyndrome is gone. My #pms is gone. These choc-PB&J pancakes are my 2nd entry into the @innerpickle_ #ippbparty giveaway competition with @mayversfood celebrating 15k! Theyโ€™re super easy to make too! ๐Ÿฅž
In a bowl mix together until smooth:
2 heaped T buckwheat flour
1 T raw cacao + 1 T hemp protein (OR 2T @griloprotein cacao hopper)
1/3-1/2 C water (depending in how think/thin you like your pancakes)
2 t @mayversfood peanut butter
Ladle the mixture onto a greased pan and cook as you would other pancakes/pikelets.

I layered/topped mine with peanuts and peanut butter, shredded coconut, melted dark chocolate and homemade sugar-free strawberry jam (literally just a punnet of strawberries simmered in a pot for 15 mins with the juice of 1/2 an orange).

One of my biggest SIBO triggers is garlic cloves, but thankfully you can infuse garlic into olive oil and strain out the clove for a SIBO-friendly alternative. I used to be able to buy garlic oil at our local Whole Foods, but they've recently stopped stocking it. Thankfully, this is easy peasy to make.

I am learning to not have to eat. When he orders scrumptious food... I have a lattรจ. When he browses supermarket shelves... I buy fruit. When he orders take away... I cook. That's just all there is to it. I feel better for it, my symptoms disappear, I'm happier, more positive, and I sleep well. Then I start to feel stronger. I wake up in the mornings smiling and happy to be alive. I spend the day with energy and enthusiasm. It makes such a difference! ๐Ÿ’™ I wish every day could feel like this. I wish everyday I have the strength the avoid the foods that my body doesn't like. I wish that someday soon I'll be able to eat them without symptoms. ๐Ÿ’™

Feels a little like Fall today with a cool breeze ๐Ÿcoming in - a nice break from the hot temps we had recently. ๐Ÿ”ธTo celebrate Fall's arrival I made this Acorn Squash stuffed with Quinoa, chicken sausage, ground pecans and cinnamon and topped with Rosemary and Sahale brand Pecans for garnish. ๐Ÿ”ธIt looks good, hope it tastes good! Haven't tried it yet - waiting for hubby to get home for dinner ๐Ÿ˜„

So about my soup: It got much better since that first batch yesterday morning. Exponentially. I feel like it definitely doesn't photograph well, but maybe I'll tinker with it & put up a recipe someday. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

This easy-on-the-gut, post-Elemental, low-FODMAP, #totesaip [+ pepper] soup consists of broth made from marrow bones, roasted  carrots pureed in, that massive spaghetti squash I got this weekend, ground beef, & some herbs. But the thing that legit transformed it was a generous drizzling of @kasandrinos on top. Yasssssssssssss. Side note: this created many instances in which I wanted to keep eating the soup despite the temperature & now I have some minor mouth burns because I couldn't resist. ๐Ÿ”ฅ
