For a time football was seen as an elitist game where there was no place for the poor to practice this sport ...
Fortunately many journalists have fought this eugenic view.
The Black in Brazilian Soccer, by journalist Mário Filho tells the story of these wonderful blacks who dispersed the ginga and the Brazilian skill around the world!
A story of many struggles and humiliations.
A classic of our football, this second edition still has the audacity to own the author's signature.
For those who do not know, read, at least they will know the history and how much sweat and tears formed our football identity and how football became football!

Around five years ago, I was single in the wake of a breakup with a guy I used to think I would marry someday. I had just bought a house meant for the two of us to live in, with extra bedrooms for the kids we thought we’d have and a big backyard for his vegetable garden. I could barely afford the place on my own and even though I knew breaking up was the right decision, it hurt. I hurt. Everything hurt.
As I sat on the floor of my lonely house thinking of all the things that could have been and driving myself mad, it finally occurred to me to pick up a book for the first time in about seven years.
Months earlier, one of my brothers had asked for a specific box set for his birthday. He said it was one of the best series he had ever read and he wanted to reread it. And like me, he doesn’t give out praise lightly. When I stopped by @barnesandnoble to buy his set, I picked one up for myself too. Why not?
So I dug up that book. It was The Final Empire, the first book in the Mistborn series by @brandsanderson.
🖤Today’s #bookinkandfairytales prompt, #thankfulthursday (author you’re thankful for) made me think of that day. I’ll forever be grateful to Brandon Sanderson for rekindling my love of reading. Thank you for helping me find an escape that made life bearable until I was ready to bear it again.
📝For #winterlitchallenge ’s favorite writing tips, Sanderson has a set of writing lectures available for free on YouTube. They contain some of the best writing tips I’ve read/seen/heard!
⚔️Vin is another kickass female MC who is totally worthy of entry into #faerytaleschroniclesgiveaway (see @faerytales_and_fangirling & @thekayleighchronicles for details)!
❓QOTD: Have you ever taken a hiatus from reading? Did you fall in love with books at a later date? Or have you always loved reading?
🔥This amazing custom Vin candle was a gift from my BBFF @cakefacereader and it is absolutely PERFECT! @littlecrowcandles did such a great job and I can’t stop burning it!
💰The @shirepostmint Mistborn coins are from their recent Kickstarter! In the background is the Mistborn: House War game from another @kickstarter.

It's finally mine. 😍 Been eyeing this beautiful Subterranean Press version of Coraline (illustrated by Dave McKean and signed by both him and Gaiman) for a while and finally treated myself to it for Christmas after saving up for it for a couple months. ...And thus continues my Neil Gaiman collection. 😁
"When everyone, knows you're a monster, you needn't waste time doing every monstrous thing" -Six of Crows, Leigh Bardugo

I tag @edavisbooks because he needs to post a picture of his new bookshelf
Inspired by @stephanie_garber’s post to share my favorite signed book, easy pick for me! I met Jon Klassen at a kid lit fest several years ago and got “I Want My Hat Back” and “This Is Not My Hat” signed, I told him one was for me and one was for my family because I sometimes share my signed books with them...this is what he did.
I love getting signatures from illustrators because they sometimes toss in a little doodle.
P.S. These are photocopies that I mounted and hung in my office, no worries about the originals being cut up.
Good evening friends! 💕
I don't know about you, but I get super excited about signed books (especially when I get to meet the author) and of course some of my most prized possessions include my V E Schwab and Samantha Shannon signed copies 😍
Especially because all my Samantha Shannon books are personalised and Victoria very kindly personalised all three of my Shades of Magic books despite the 2 only rule (because as she said, you can't have a signed trilogy where only two of the books are personalised) 💞
My boyfriend got me the beautiful American cover of the collector's edition of ADSOM for Christmas, and I can't wait to reread it 😄
Do you have any signed books? Which is your favourite?
Good morning beautiful people! I was up very late doing school work so I’m half asleep as I write this and will need coffee ASAP! Have any of you read flashfall? I haven’t and I really want to know what people thought of it because it look so good so if you have read it please let me know your thoughts.
How many signed books do you own?
Hey #anseagles ! Another amazing author is coming to our school! Gordon Korman will visit students in grades 3 through 6 on Wednesday, February 7. He's going to tell us all about his new book, "Super Gifted"! But students in all grades can buy his books, and he'll sign them. Prior to his arrival, we're selling books from three of his series; Ungifted, Masterminds, and Swindle. If you don't have an order form, get one from Mrs. Renner. Paid orders must be received by Friday, February 2 in order to be signed. Thank you to our friends at @hoorayforbooks for bringing us this awesome opportunity!
Good afternoon everyone, I hope you're all having a good day so far! I'm about to start a new book which means my day is going great!
-QOTD: Do you own any signed books? *
-AOTD: I currently own 69 signed books and I'm always on the look out for signed editions or book signings!
Shadows of The New Sun (Tor 2013) is a really cool anthology of short stories by some well-known sci-fi authors in tribute to Gene Wolfe. Great stories here from Haldeman, Zahn and others—including Wolfe himself. This copy is signed you Neil Gaiman.
@romancereveal never ceases to amaze me! Each month we receive the best books!! I love getting the mail when I know my boxes will be there! #romancereveal#booksfordays#signedbooks @corinnemichaels @authorlkfarlow @averyflynn @julia_f_london @brookecumberland_xo @lyraparish @jessica_hawkins @authorelliewade @mika_jolie
It’s cold out there folks, the perfect time to curl up with some new reads! These two new books are for upcoming events and we’re thrilled that they’re finally on our shelves.
On the right: We're so excited to be hosting the bestselling author of THE SWANS OF FIFTH AVENUE and THE AVIATOR'S WIFE, Melanie Benjamin, for her new historical novel THE GIRLS IN THE PICTURE. This beautiful book is about the creative friendship between two old Hollywood icons, Frances Marion and Mary Pickford, and the exhilarating early years of Hollywood. It explores the concepts of power, women, and female friendships--we can't wait for the event with Melanie Benjamin TOMORROW NIGHT (Jan 17) at 7PM!
On the left: Stefan Merrill Block’s first two novels were widely praised for their lyrical intensity and keen emotional insight. Now comes his most ambitious and satisfying novel yet, a mesmerizing, compulsively readable look at the complicated threads that bind a family, and what happens when those ties are tested by tragedy. Oliver Loving was shot while at school and has been in a coma ever since. But when new technology promises to give voice to the unconscious Oliver, could it answer all the lingering questions and bring a torn up family back together? Author Stefan Merrill Block will be here at 7PM January 31st for what is sure to be an incredible literary event!
Yesterday I attended a reading of The Immortalists by @chloekbenjamin at @literatibookstore and it was such a cool experience. Chloe was so well-spoken and seemed so genuinely excited to have people want to read her novels. It made me want to dive into the book even more (I may even read it right after my current read!). What are you planning to read next?
I spent my free time this weekend *finally* reading Illuminae! I've been meaning to read this book for a Very Long Time now, and always wimped out (because hype scares me). But man oh man oh man y'all this book is MAGNIFICENT. So clever and beautiful and MY FEELINGS. Goodness gracious. I loved it!! Now I'm sitting here starting Gemina and I'm so excited but also nervous but in the best way, yay! Thank you, thank you to my dear friend @knoxdiver who finally convinced me to pick this book up. IT'S ABOUT TIME.
❄ What's the last book you read that blew you away??
Check @kay.camden books in this 5 book series. I only own 3 books of this series. All are signed by the author when I met her in 2015 at a book signing.
Synopsis:He’s killed three men in the few days she’s known him. Yes, it’s self-defense. But when he tried to kill her, it wasn’t. Her peaceful mountain refuge has been invaded, her inexplicable nausea linked to his physical presence. She’s captive in his house for her “protection,” with a churning stomach, his bad attitude, and no safe way home.
All that changed the night the stars aligned.
Now he’s talking about ancient bloodlines and celestial alignments…and other things she only believes because of what she’s seen him do. He’s heading out for revenge against the family who wronged him, and he needs her help. All she has to do is ingest one homemade dissolving tablet to allow him into her mind–to train her to be just like him.
The answer would be a definite no if she had anything of her world left. If she hadn’t fallen in love with him.
Book One of THE ALIGNMENT SERIES, a blend of modern fantasy, action, and romance.
#AllTheBooksJan : Day 15 - 2018 Debut Author
Good morning/night/whatever the time is where you are. 😅 I am so damn tired I can barely keep my eyes open so this will be quick-ish.
Question: What books are you most looking forward to reading this year? (New releases or old books, it doesn't matter). I'm really looking forward to starting ACOTAR and Magician, I'm also hoping to catch up with A Song Of Ice And Fire and Outlander, and reread some old favourites. ☺️
Taking this photo I realised that I don't really keep up with new releases unless it's a book from a series in reading or by an author I like. I had never even heard of Everless until just before I got it in my December FairyLoot. Have you read it? I'm looking forward to eventually reading it. Also I'm super obsessed with both covers, they're so pretty!
Okay I am off, I really need some sleep. Goodnight! ❤️
