H E A D S T A N D S ~ Sirsasana or headstand is a great yoga posture with many benefits. (Before you dive right in and fling your legs skywards, please be careful if you are unfamiliar with the pose or have any neck or back issues. This pose is best to try with a yoga instructor to begin with.)⠀⠀
Once you get the hang of it try doing a headstand for 10mins, 6 days a week and experience some of these benefits!⠀⠀
✔️Improve (nutrient rich) blood flow to the eyes⠀⠀
✔️Increase (nutrient rich) blood flow to the head and scalp ⠀⠀
✔️Strengthen shoulders and arms⠀⠀
✔️Help flush out the adrenal glands ⠀⠀
✔️Decrease fluid build-up in the legs, ankles, and feet⠀⠀
✔️Develop strength in the core muscles⠀⠀
✔️Stimulate the lymphatic system⠀⠀
N.B: Don't try this pose while you are pregnant or menstruating ⠀⠀

A snippet from my morning practice! I looked back at this and criticised myself because it wasn't "perfect" My legs are wobbling, my bum looks HUGE, I look like a baby bird! I did all the things I invite my students not to do. While I was practicing, I was enjoying the moment and my ego wasn't caring! Lesson learned? Speak kindly to yourself, enjoy your practice and don't judge 🌟😊 #babybird#wobble#morningpractice#vinyasa#flow#sirsasana#fun#begentlewithyourself
|| Class Tonight ||
We’re finally closing in on the weekend which means tonight’s the night I teach at Yogavani. Come and join in the fun at 8.15pm for an hour in the delicious heated studio. All levels welcome.
Day 10 • Eagle • Trust your focus
Two different variations. Salamba sirsasana with eagle legs and standing eagle 🦅Love both! I actually find myself in eagle legs a lot.. like when riding the metro or laying down on the couch 😁💞💕 #TrustYourJourney
|| WRECKED || After two nights of camping ⛺️ and driving around Fraser Island with @jdosmith , I am well and truly knackered 💤No signal on the island meant a three day digital detox which was pretty refreshing. We were so busy driving around the island in our group that there was literally no time to miss social media or checking in with people back home. Having never camped before, this trip was WAY outside of my comfort zone. It turned out to be a pretty interesting few days, which included being surrounded by 20 year olds playing Euro pop into the early hours while I had my earplugs and eye mask on! The majority of the trip was spent traveling to different parts of the island, swimming in lakes and trying to spot some dingos (which we did today!). I can now tick that off my list and I’m currently delighted to be back to life with real mattresses and beds 🛏💤💕
Another question I get asked all the time is “How long will you teach?” Here’s the reality, pregnant or not, and I’m sure I’ll ruffle some feathers with this one: you can’t fake the funk. If you don’t have a personal practice, I don’t think you have any business guiding someone else through theirs. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy, but how else do you find inspiration? How can you expect to speak to the sensations that come with these shapes if you’re not connecting with them yourself? How can you keep your sequencing fresh if you’re not exploring new transitions and feeling them in your body? There’s plenty of inspiration out there if you get stuck. I often turn to @thetattooedyogi @damyogi @diceyoga @portal.ido and @johnfarchione when I get stuck, whether it’s moving through one of their instagram sequences or going to a class. This flow in particular was inspired by my favorite transitions and shapes from @elanikag. Your authenticity and ability to speak to the challenges of a sequence is your connection to your students.
So my answer? I’ll teach until I can’t practice; but for now, I’m really loving the exploration of MY practice.
PS anyone else hate practicing on carpet? 🙄 #firstworldproblems#yogaeverydamnday#yoga#pregnantyoga#vinyasa#flow#ltemployee#hollowback#yogasequence#sirsasana#invert#upsidedownisbetter#inversion#inversionjunkie#30weekspregnant#fitpregnancy#yogisofinstagram#kdeer#billyjoel#riverofdreams#yoursong#dogsofinstagram

But all I do is give and all you do is take
Something’s gotta change, but I know that it won’t
