A HUGE thank you to everyone who participated in #mtnmonth17 !! 🗻🌄
It was our absolute pleasure to share this journey with you all!! Whether you got all the prompts completed or only managed a handful we hope you enjoyed the challenge as much as we did!!
There were so many incredible posts shared over the month that we really did have our work cut out for us to pick a winner for the gorgeous Mountain Bliss watercolour palette from @paintandletters, but in the end there was one person who stood out to us all. This person wasn't afraid to share both their successes and 'failures', and progressed massively over the course of the month, creating some incredible pieces!
🎉🎉 CONGRATULATIONS @m3l4n13g 🎉🎉
Send a message to @paintandletters to claim your watercolours!
A few weeks ago I received a letter from my mother. Sometimes it's easy to think that you are struggling alone. This was a reminder that I never was: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Worshipping our bodies: the main thoughts I want to share --my dear Kristen, I was there with you when you struggled. Your words strike me so deeply because I could feel your pain, how uncomfortable you were in your body then. I remember how you towered over your friends… that you were at least 12 inches taller than everybody else – and you wanted to be petite like they were. I remember telling you how beautiful you were, how tall and statuesque, how one-of-a-kind you are. And I also know that I didn’t know how to help you. That I said the wrong things…That I’m sure I did many, many wrong things as I tried to help you; my daughter was in pain!"

"Hi. Your company is awesome! Can we be friends?" This is how I started my first email I sent to @coalitionsnow a little over 2 years ago. Thank you for sharing the #sisterhoodofshred with me ❤️ Also, super shout out to Georgina for being a boss and for helping women choose their adventure !
Play. An important part of recovery. What makes you smile from ear to ear? What people give you belly laughs? What are you doing when you don't care about "looking cool"? Recovery doesn't always have to be serious, YOU don't always have to be serious. Play is a great way to get out of our heads and truly experience our bodies.
So go. Be silly. Stand on your head, roll through the grass, maybe eat too much sugar, and play.

With the snow line getting lower and the temperatures dropping I'm definitely itching to get back on these sticks. Super stoked to have friends like @coalitionsnow having my back for another year.

A challenge from @kenibartley for the rest of the week: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Here's my challenge of the week, only say positive things about my body that have absolutely nothing to do with appearance! Say what?!?! Example: its really rad my tummy stores food (aka energy) so I can go on amazing adventures! 🙌🏽 Who is with me? What're you feeling about yourself today?!" ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Try this out. Write down what happens. Were you successful? Were you not successful? And if so what messages did you repeat to yourself throughout the week? Try it and report back! #wildandweightless
There’s nothing worse than having your skis ghost on you like a bad Tinder date while dropping into a holy grail line after a slog uphill. With the La Nieve, you’ll never have to sacrifice commitment for a lightweight ride. ⠀

Today, I celebrate the end of my youth as I know it. I was never very wild and never got in much trouble, but I was (am) also obsessed with a sense of youthfulness. I moved back and forth across the country four times, and managed to travel a fair amount. I went to hundreds of shows, made a bunch of art, didn't get drunk that often, slept in my tent a lot. I was practically wifed through most of it, with a home and partner and pets and a garden. It threw me a curve ball toward the end and everything changed yet so much stayed the same. I started dating for the first time, which has been a trip. I have certainly learned a lot. Now that I'm old as fuck, well, I'm not sure really. I'll probably start skateboarding more. And quit coffee. This is definitely the year I quit coffee.
EDIT: Quit WORKING in coffee. I'm definitely not quitting drinking coffee.
For those of you who don’t know, I am currently on a mission to hike 30 peaks for the 30 million people impacted by eating disorders in the US. Yesterday I got to the top of peak 20! Yay!
This experience has been humbling. FOR SURE. For everything that has gone right, there are daily setbacks, and sometimes finding motivation to keep going is a struggle. (You know those times when the trail is covered in two feet of snow, or you realize you still have thousands to raise for your crowdfunding campaign.)
While on my hike I was able to find compassion for myself, (I have a lot going on and it's okay if things take time), I did not think about or judge my body, and start to really fall in love with my new home. Through hiking I found the inspiration and motivation to keep plugging away at my dream to turn Wild and Weightless into a nonprofit.
The mission of Wild and Weightless is to offer outdoor experiences to those who have been impacted by eating disorders free of cost. These adventures will provide motivation and inspiration to live life free of disordered eating and negative body image. It will teach participants how to work through the times that feel harder or humbling. ❤️
To support this dream please donate by following the link in our bio. Every little bit helps! Happy Monday! #wildandweightless
✨This thing I did...checked off my 3rd 14er of the year🤷♀️
🌈Most stoked on the big horn sheep sighting, being a part of Carolyn's first 14er and successfully fishing her camera from a large cave at the summit🍻Friendly reminder of how tiny we are and how big our playground is..... #therapy#getoutside#14er#mtlangley @coalitionsnow #sisterhoodofshred
This morning I crawled out of my tent in the dark, put it away by the beam of my headlamp, and made coffee as the first light hit the mountaintops. Then I booked it back to Oakland to begin birthday festivities with my girlfriends. That's a wrap!
I had no service at camp last night, but here I am. Yesterday I spent the day driving down backcountry desert roads alone, listening to my old favorite albums and crying because my heart is so full but also a little empty and it's all just so big, you know.
Are you checking out my insta stories?!
Because working bigger and more detailed means that I don't have a ready flow of finished pieces to post regularly, I'm going to share progress shots and videos with you in my stories ✌ 🗻 .
Juggling a full time day job with my passion is interesting to say the least, but this way I get to keep sharing with you all without the pressure to complete something every day - so make sure you jump on my stories to see what I'm up to 😉🌄
I never expected the landscape to change so much in one national park.. from shell beaches to white sand, red cliffs to purple rocks, open plains, paper tree forests and tropical jungles..an absolute hikers dream😍
Opening day at A-Basin - the earliest day on the slopes some we moved to Colorado (over 5 years ago). Felt so good to be back on my board & now I'm REALLY ready for the season. (📷: Thanks Dave Armstrong!)
It's a sign... Snow is on the way, it's time to train! Approaching a year since my ACL/meniscus surgery and feeling good. I just started a @mountain_tactical dryland ski cycle. What are you doing to get strong for your ski season? How do you take care of your body?
Find your wild. This is where I find mine. It comes effortlessly here, one berm at a time. My instincts take over and they only know one rule… Don’t fight the flow. Sure its comforting to feel in control but isn't it more fun to just let it rip?!
