The #bliss between the eccentric portion and the concentric portion of a one sided #kettlebell#frontsquat . Not really all that blissful when there's a #werewolf trying claw at one side and tip you over!
I enjoy weighted movements on one side as opposed to both sides to #strengthen#stabilising muscles that are less active during contemporary lifts, but more importantly as a tool to highlight right and left #muscle#imbalances quickly. It forces me to ask #questions . Do I perform the movement #symmetrically on each side? Why can I not perform the movement as #efficiently on this side? Why is my range of movement #restricted ? Where are these restrictions coming from? Weak stabilisers? Weak prime movers? Both? My nervous systems confidence in the movement? Is my mind elsewhere as I perform? Poor recruitment of the appropriate muscles? Recruitment of the wrong muscles as prime movers? Are my #abs engaged? Are my #glutes engaged equally? Are both my feet strongly engaged? Have I recovered from yesterday? Is my nutrition adequate (#earthgrownnutrients ) ? Did I #sleep enough? How can I improve?
It's not as simple as just #lifting#heavy things to get #stronger . True #strength lies in #listening to the body, and acting upon that conversation. Not ignoring pain, not sacking off training entirely, not sleeping less, not sleeping too much, not guessing, not thinking, LISTENING!
The body knows, even if you don't. Be humble (my personal problem), accept it and welcome to a stronger life. ☯️
