Something super special is coming to the blog TOMORROW and I am so excied y'all! I can't wait to share it with you!! I was so ecstatic to work with @briellekaschakphoto as a second shooter for this gorgeous occasion!
Here's just a little sneak 😉
On another note, who's watching the new shows/movies thta hit up Netflix recently?!
hey there friend, oh my goodness how true is this? There are SO many things that were difficult for me when I first started my business. Most of it was because I tried to do all.the.things but since it's Monday and we're in this weird summer lull....
Here are a few things that you can do if you get stuck:
📍When everything seems to be taking FOREVER to load... hit save, walk away from the computer and come back to it in a few minutes. Oddly enough this works 98% of the time. 🤷♀️
📍Reach out in a facebook group and ask for help. Don't be spammy or desperate, just be real, ask your question and you will get honest feedback.
📍Throw it at google. Search on youtube or pinterest and see if there's a tutorial for what you're stuck on. 9 times out of 10 someone else has asked the same thing.
and lastly ask a biz bestie or see if there's someone you could work with who can help you 1-on-1.
So tell me, friend what's ONE THING that is difficult for you right now? Leave it in the comments below, then scroll through and if you can help someone else out, let them know! #creativebizhaven
#mealprep made easy peazy lemon squeezy thanks to publix and their new spiral cut sweet pot! I can get them cut like this in a pretty big tub for only 2 bucks which is surprisingly a lot cheaper than when I buy sweet potatoes by the lb not sure why but I'll take it and the convenience!! Meal prep isn't elaborate for me. I wish I could afford to buy my meals from one of the fun food prep companies out there but I can't and I do like to stay on track during the week and prepping a few staples helps me do that. I always do a huge thing of chicken sweet potato and then a vegetable squash or asparagus maybe egg plant (I'd use the emoji but don't want to get judged 😞) and that's it. I cook it all at the same time in the oven same temp different lengths of time. It's easy and it helps me. Is it super routine? Yup. Do I eat a lot of he same foods? Of course. But this works for me. What do y'all like to prep for your week if at all?! Happy Monday!!
Hey There! I hope you all had a much better weekend than I did. I've been extra stressed today because the AC at my house went out on Friday. We stayed at my parents-in-law's house all weekend (so nice of them!) because our dog was going crazy without AC. We finally had someone come out to the house today and it looks like we are going to have to replace the whole unit. 🙄Ughhhh! #notinthebudget •
Anyways, I'm still getting as much done as possible, checking things off the to-do-list before I head back to the lovely AC at my parents-in-law's place. What's the one thing that you want to check off your to-list today? ✔️For me, it's creating some pretty icons for a page that's coming soon to my website. 🖥
Calling all MAKERS, ARTISTS, CRAFTERS, ARTISANS and MUSICIANS! .
After the success of our last live music event at the cafe, we got to thinking that it would be really cool to host a pop-up event that brought together all of our favorite makers, musicians, local food and beverage under one roof (and the patio, and the sidewalk, and our back parking lot ; )
The result of this light bulb momet is "Music Meets Maker!" We are hoping that you are all interested in taking part in the event, on Friday, July 28th.
There will be a $10 (ten dollar) buy-in for each table, with full proceeds from this buy-in going to the local SPCA. The event will start at 7pm and run until 930pm, with set-up beginning at 6pm.
Submissions can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
Definitely feel free to share with anyone in your network that you feel would be interested to be a part of the event! We truly want to showcase all of the awesome talent locally, and enjoy some great food and drink with you all!
Please let me know if you have any questions, or if I can reserve a space for you! #popup#popupshop#vintage#makers#smallbusinessowner#smallbusinesssupportingsmallbusiness#quinpoolroad#halifaxcafe#community#halifax#dillydallycoffeecafe#comedillydallywithus @dartmouthmakers @halifaxnoise
If someone asked you today why you haven't reached your goal, what would you say? Not enough time, too much to do, not enough money, something else?
But what's really holding you back?
Those are all excuses. Legitimate maybe. But excuses nonetheless, and all with relatively easy solutions.
There is enough time. You just need to make it a priority. You could outsource the busy work keeping you from your goals or wake up 15 minutes earlier to get stuff done sooner.
Financially, save a little extra each pay check. Skip that trip to Starbucks. Cook at home instead of eating out. Clip some coupons.
I know I'm simplifying this. And trust me, I've been known to avoid working on a project in favor of watching a movie in bed.
But the reality is, if you're not reaching your goals, YOU need to honestly determine what's holding you back and take the steps to move forward. It's time to stop blaming the things around you and do something about it.
Success is born behind the scenes. In quite, silent work of hundreds and hundreds of hours. People will call it obsession, perhaps even craziness.
Do not care what they say.
Keep your focus on end results.
TO YOUR SUCCESS 👍
When Instagram Stories passed Snapchat in users, it obviously wasn't a surprise.
But what's more interesting to me is all of the business owners who were upset with the evolution of a core platform because it's just another thing to keep up with.
The funny thing is that people don't care lol. They still give their attention where they want to. And in this case, it's in the stories.
So whether you had wanted this or not, the attention is there. At least at the time being.
Are you documenting your day every 24 hours? Is it interesting? Are you providing value? Are you connecting? If not, why are you on Instagram as a business? I'm just curious.
Sometimes we have to get really logical with ourselves and realize that some of our behaviors are wasted effort. Consistency for consistency's sake isn't worth it. You have to do the right things on social.
The Great Geysir.
As this piece is going to be shipped today to its new home in Italy, I wanted to share it with all of you!
@fede.md took an incredible shot of this geyser with his drone, and commissioned me to do an artistic rendition of it. He wanted to capture its grandeur and the incredible texture surrounding it, as well as the sense of it's emergence from the landscape. We worked together for a couple weeks, and I love our final product. You can swipe to the right to see the original shot!
After this experience I am definitely excited to work with more drone photographers in the future! Have a great shot that you would like to commission? Let's talk!
