Quote of the Day is back with this piece of #wisdom from ~Socrates~ "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings so that you shall gain easily what others have laboured hard for." We cannot possibly make all the mistakes possible in life ourselves 😊, learn from the mistakes and knowledge gained by those who have been there first, lest history repeat itself again and again. 🙄 #socrates#philosophy#philosophyoflife#wisdom#calligraphy#calligraphyquote
It's been a while now, since I've shared a photo on Instagram. In this case, a quote; a quote from one of my favorite philosophers. I deleted my original Instagram account months ago. The past few months have been filled with both mental and physical health struggles. I distanced myself from social media, to focus upon myself. I distanced myself to renew my energy. I stopped taking photos. I ignored my passion. I ignored many aspects of life. I had to force myself to focus upon myself, so that I was able to improve, both mentally and physically. At first, I continued to spiral down, but as time passed, I found myself climbing back up; rediscovering the me that I lost. I'm doing better now, much better, in both areas of health. I missed Instagram. I missed sharing my photos, showing my love and interest in others photos. So here I am; back at it. I want to rebuild my account. This is my new beginning.
"I call myself a PEACEFUL WARRIOR because the battles we fight are on the inside." -Socrates
Relating this concept of a Peaceful Warrior to the current state of the world, "one of the major hurdles in the world today is this stubborn idea of an 'us' and a 'them,' a competitive, rather than collaborative, approach to living... At some point this world is going to have to begin to see that we're all in this together -- a human family."
A human family, what a concept. Why is this so hard to grasp? When we find peace within, we will create it in the world.
First, I wanted to say the reason I am presenting this is to make aware of who I am - since most, if not all of what I share is not about me in any personal sense. This will also hopefully ease the tension over those that are unaware of what my role in social media is over. So here we go, my name is Eruch Dah and I am a 27 nursing student to get my BSN with a focus in psychiatrics and travel aboard and when financially able to, volunteer for Peace Corps and Doctors Without Borders. After some time and experience I plan to go to graduate school for cognitive science and minor in bioengineering. Currently I am residing in Stockton, California where I was born and raised, but was on the east coast for some time for work and have learned much. My role for social media stems from many things, mainly being my various conversations with authors and professors I look up to, and my personal research in history of civilizations and classical philosophy. Over the course of my adult life, I have changed drastically in my aim towards a good life, and those I choose to be close in my circle. I once was big in the hip hop community, helping run school clubs, workshops, consulting, and marketing. My aim now for social media is my admiration for #Socrates , who was noted to be the first to call philosophy down from the heavens. Socrates was full of passion for intellectual honesty and moral integrity rare for his or any other age. He insistently sought answers to questions that had not before been asked, attempted to undermine conventional assumptions and beliefs to provoke more careful thinking and ethical matters, and tirelessly compelled both himself and those who conversed to seek a deeper understanding of what constitutes the #goodlife . Simply put, he asked questions in order to make people think about ideas they took for granted. To him, an excellent human being is one who strives to acquire certain virtues, such as temperance, courage, and wisdom. Why? Because the mold of such virtues creates a different kind of wealth you won’t learn in any school or job - a wealth of empathy, of imaginative vision, and of self-discovery - to #knowthyself .
I accept life because is inevitable,
I accept death because is inevitable
As the wind touches my body
I will continue to dance
In this pendulum of life.
Thus to be alive is already a miracle,
To know we coincide in this earth
At least for one short moment in time.
Soon we will be gone from the play we call life;
But we are forever connected.
It's like a movie that will be displayed over and over again in the Universe.
Perhaps eating popcorn as we laugh it all out loud.
Yet, this is only one version of the truth. Yes! We could argue for the truth
or we can blossom like the butterflies we are.
I know that I know nothing said Socrates,
This I find to be so freeing. To know nothing.
It's like silence, it comes to you without defending itself. It caresses you with truth. Oh! To feel the touch of silence is a dream come true.
How palpable can our dreams come true,
by breathing it all in, we can become ONE. -Esteban 🌹🦋
