We all have something that we want to be great at. The difference between the individual that is good at what they do and great at what they do is this:
The individual that is good at what they do chooses to practice with caution, in a safe environment where mistakes can rarely be made allowing for little growth, development and learning if any at all. Derailment.
But that great individual...Oh no. That great individual can be found in the lions den, practicing in the very eye of the storm, uncomfortable as hell where failures are countless and learning and growth is infinite. Developing before one's eyes, gaining their experience from within the fire, perfecting their craft.
Couldn't help it 😂😂 The point I'm getting across isn't to do with how sore your lady bits are, but to do with how sore your body is after and how to recover properly.
A lot of new beginners will go to one spin class, feel great but aren't able to move afterwards and are put off by this. Don't be! It's completely normal!
Your muscles have been exposed to vigorous exercise that it hasn't been used to before, which produces micro tears and can alter the pH levels which slows down your neural responses. Don't worry, we tear our muscles whenever we strength train or do any type of intense cardio, but once filled by nutritious food and rest/active rest. This will help produce stronger more efficient muscle than before.
Here are the best recovery methods;
1.active rest - this helps to keep the blood flowing towards your muscles, and gets rid of any waste products.
2.foam roll - this is similar to the active rest, as it stimulates circulation and keeps your muscles a lot more flexible.
3.eat after your workout - protein and some days, but also carbs! This helps to decrease muscle soreness... But only slightly 😉
4.epsom salt bath - this type of bath contains magnesium which is absorbed via the skin and relieves muscle soreness and stimulus blood flow.
5.SLEEP!! - so important!!! This is what everyone needs for recovery... Relaxation!
1/80: Workout one (total body core) in the books and it was simultaneously easier and harder than I thought it would be. I’m amazed at the calorie burn because while I’m sweaty, I’m not drenched. And my muscles are jello (which is the best feeling). Timed nutrition was 💯 and I’m leaving day 1 feeling a little bit like a rockstar ... fairly certain this spells doom for me in the weeks to come. #80dayobsession#80dotestgroup

I’m not gonna lie - I’m terrified of tomorrow. I spent 90+ minutes meal prepping today for the week, and it was exhausting (especially when there’s 12 more Sundays of doing this). I’m worried the workouts will kick my ass. And I’m anxious I’m going to mess up my timed nutrition. But with all of that negativity today, I took my before pictures and realized I need this. I need the discipline. I need the accountability. And I need to trust that I *can* do this ... but I’m still pretty terrified. #80dayobsession
I like to just keep my goals right in front of me, especially when I am riding. I like to always remember what I work so hard for. 🍩 Life ♥️ Ive only had 2 donuts this year and they were both after spinning for several hours 🙈 Listen, it was the right choice for me ok?
In all honesty I have had a TERRIBLE relationship with food almost my entire life. Im known to binge, be vegan and get taco bell at 10pm all in the same week. I eat tofu, I lift weights and sometimes I bake cookies and while I beat the crap out of myself for that...I am learning that this is how most people live. People drink green juice and eat pizza in the same day and that ok. Its going to be ok.

Hello 2018!!! 2017 was an incredible year for me. I lost over 40 pounds, learned a ton about myself and rediscovered how good it feels to be confident in your own skin. Taking none of that away, because I worked my ass off, I came back from our vacation in October and lost my way again. I sporadically did spin, tried my best to maintain during the holidays and stopped prioritizing my health. And it shows. I gained 7 pounds on vacation, and by the end of the year, that 7 morphed into 19. Now, some of that is post-holiday bloat but ... 19 fucking pounds. In 2.5 months - how did I manage to do that? So I’ve spent the first two weeks of 2018 doing a lot of self reflection, and a lot of planning and prepping ... and on Monday, I start 80 Day Obsession as part of @autumncalabrese’s second test group. It’s 80 days of timed nutrition, 60-min workouts and, hopefully, amazing results. And I’m going to document it all here. The good, the bad and the ugly. So buckle up, it’s going to be an incredible ride. #80dayobsession
Playing around at @beyondfitbda this week. Even got a couple weighted pull-ups with a 15lb DB....all fun and games until tonight when it’s @bermudamarathon weekend and I realize I did no running to train 🤣🤣🤣 #oops#spinlife#crosstrainingforthewin
