First blog post! For those of you who are wanting to get to know me a little more beyond "Friday Introductions" and for those of you who want more of an update on my journey post-grad, this is a good way to do it!

A wholehearted thank you to everyone who protects us and fights to prevent events like the terrorist attack of 9/11. This awful event ultimately taught me to also look for those who were doing good in the aftermath of such horrendous circumstances, and to strive to be good in the face of such hatred. Again, thank you.
I am so thrilled to finally share this meaningful creation. I was so excited to make this special gift for my beautiful cousin. There is so much love and memories tied to these coordinates but her most memorable is this location began the change to her future 💍. This is the spot her future husband asked her to be his bride. ❤️❤️❤️. We are So looking forward to celebrating with you. Congrats to Erin and Michael.
This smoke has been fooling me all week into thinking the sky is overcast 🙈. I may have dressed for cooler weather a couple times and suffered the consequences, haha. Happy Friday, ya'll ✨. Feel free to repost, just tag me in it so I can see where it's going!
So in love with these custom Bridal Charms. What a Perfect bridesmaid gift. These charms will be serving a dual purpose = Wedding day Floral Bouquet charm + personalized charm necklace. Win-win. Thank you @emmaflhair for the coordinating hair band.
I created this for @gatherandsavor to celebrate her 🎉ONE-YEAR🎉 milestone of local food blogging + bringing a great community together. I'm really loving painting food and drinks lately. This drink painting was inspired by a Google search because I know squat about alcoholic drinks. Apparently this is an Apple + Rosemary Rickey 🤷🏼♀️ Send me your favorite food & drink to paint!
// NEW WORKSHOPS //⠀
Three all-new workshops are now live on my site (link in bio)! We've got two more that we'll post in the next couple weeks, too, but I wanted to get these posted since one is coming up in September!⠀
Two are skill-based hand-lettering workshop, which is basically a crash course in lettering—you don't go home with art to put on your wall, but you learn the skills to create art on your own, plus worksheets to practice!⠀
The other is a Bullet Journal class! You can learn the basics of bullet journaling over at bulletjournal.com, but I'll be highlighting for you strategies and customizations from all over the internet and from my own experience, so you walk away with a planner that works for YOU.
I know many "solo-preneurs" or small business owners follow me here. So I'd like to share a few tips on this fine Tuesday. Do you struggle with what to post on social media each day? Do you feel stumped at what content to even share or what to put out into the world about your business, your product, or your service? I know I even find this a challenge at times and I have hundreds of professional photos at my fingertips. But that is just the key to kickstart your inspiration for posting on instagram, Facebook, or your blog ➡️have professionally styled stock photos customized to your business brand. How do you even go about that? Well, there are a few ways.
1️⃣Start a folder here on Instagram using hat little flag icon in the bottom right corner of each image. You can start inspiration boards based on what you like and see here in Instagram-land. You can also do this via Pinterest and via screenshots on your phone. This is not to copy or emulate another business. This is to help you fine tune and hone in on what you like for your brand.
2️⃣Reach out to a professional photographer + stylist. If you don't know what photography style would be best for your business. That's something a stylist (like myself) can help you pinpoint. Do you need product shots on blank white backdrop. Do you need woodsy outdoors shots showing your venue or business in its true elements? Do you need lifestyle shots of people enjoying your service, product, restaurant in real life?
3️⃣Schedule a photo shoot and prepare your props. As a stylist, I bring many props and backdrops to the table but as the business creative you will certainly have products and props that reflect your theme, style, and brand. Usually I schedule 2 hour shoots and we can create 40+ images as the end result for the business owner to use. 💗Hope that helps point you in the right direction. Once you have these final images post-processing, they can easily inspire things to post. We all know, even on days where words do not come easily, a pretty photo on Instagram is worth more than a thousand catchy words resulting in more likes and followers.
Have you worked with a stylist before? What questions do you have?
Last March I started selling my art online. Yesterday marked my 100th sale! This bad boy was my milestone print & I am damn proud. It's the small steps, babes. Let us celebrate those little accomplishments 🎉🙌🏼✨

This is a nice reminder for myself & hopefully other creatives. When I first started my own business three years ago, I would constantly beat myself up + doubt my struggles. SLOW IS OKAY. I am so amazed and blessed with how I've grown and blossomed where I am now. I have the BEST group of women who encourage and push me to step outside my comfort zone. Sweat & tears make careers 💪🏼
Just about one week ago, I taught my first workshop! I had literally the BEST group of women + man. Being surrounded by a group of creative individuals really fills my heart! Thank you to those who supported me, shared my class & attended the paper flower class 💕🌿🌹
The life of a creative entrepreneur: "This sucks. This is amazing! This is too hard. I'm terrible. I'm awesome at this!" Walking into the unknown is scary. Will I be successful? Will walking away from what is stable and secure be okay? I constantly have these feelings, and I'm sure you do too. It's important to surround yourself with those who inspire you, those who are uplifting, those who are grateful, and even those who let you swear like a sailor sometimes. I've tagged a group of ladies that inspire me! Who uplifts you?
We had a fantastic summer #thecreativesgathering event last week on the cruise boat at @hayden_lake_marina 🌊 it's looking like we'll have one more at the end of September! Want to be the first to hear about it and the special ticket prices? Sign up for our newsletter via the link in my bio here! 🛥
Real talk: I'm feeling frustrated and exhausted lately. I had a refreshing conversation with someone I admire about the importance of setting boundaries for yourself as a creative business owner. It's easy to let people take advantage of you but you need to remember you are brilliant and worthy. I am blessed to be surrounded by a great group of creative women with plenty of insight. Today, I'm feeling real good. It's a good day to relax and just take time for yourself. Sorry for my less upbeat post, but I feel it's important to be real with you guys.
Northwest Creatives! This is for you 🛥 we're planning another summer gathering cruise for late September! Our last cruise sold out very quickly and many of you missed the opportunity to join in. There's a link in my bio to SIGN UP for email notifications and reminders so you'll be the first to know and the first to find out about discounts before the ticket price goes up! So go and sign up ASAP and keep your eyes peeled for the launch date...we're looking forward to cruising the beautiful Hayden lake again with you! 🌲
Last night someone posted a picture of their back to school countdown. This literally makes me want to crawl in a little hole until the beginning of May... so here's a funny little sentiment I heard a few days ago.
Okay, babes-- My very first workshop. This one may be a little rocky but I'm thrilled to teach this. All I ask is patience and lots of love. If you're interested in learning to make some sweet paper flowers, come hangout with me! Message me for details ✨
Peonies on peonies on peonies. I've been OBSESSED with watercolors lately. Every morning I spend at least 3 hours painting. Not every piece turns out the way I hope it will, in fact, I've probably crumpled up about 20 pages and turned them into color-testing pages. If anyone wants to come paint with me while watching Workaholics, be my guest ✨🤙🏽
Sometimes you need spoil yourself with something that gives your life joy. For me that's peonies, chocolate cupcakes & 90s hip hop. Everything about a peony is stunning. Definitely some inspiration for my next watercolor session 🌿✨
Yesterday evening we had our Summer Creatives Gathering on a swanky cruise boat around Hayden lake! 🛥 The smokey skies made for some pretty scenes and hazy views! Many local business owners and friends enjoyed each other's company, signature Idaho 75 cocktails, and farm-to-table hors d'oeuvres from @gregersonfamilyfarm prepared by chef Jonathan at @theculinarystone 🥕 and fruity desserts with local berries by @erinblackburn5 🍒 Thank you all for joining and buying tickets right away! It was awesome to host another sold out event and to work with @hayden_lake_marina again! Who's in for a September Creatives Cruise?! 🙋🏼
I am very very excited to announce a recent collaboration with the poet (and friend) @baeleyhathaway. Baeley is a very talented author and the last few weeks we fine tuned her cover and the following images are some examples of her work that have hit me the deepest. And while the first image is not the final cover (saving that, duh) it was a favorite of mine. Follow to stay updated on when her first full book will be released!
Bigger is better, right? I so wanted to launch back in June with larger sizes, but was limited for various reasons to 8x10. I'm excited to say that almost ALL the products in the store are available up to 18x24! I can't tell you how happy this makes me!
I have rebelliously circumnavigated the introduction thing thus far. As much as I wish I could avoid it further, it is time. So here goes: I'm Sarah. I'm an administrative assistant at my local church with a side hustle, Doorpost Designs. I've been designing and calligraphing away since I was in middle school, and DD seemed like the perfect marriage of creating beautiful things + communicating beautiful truth.⠀
Here's for the fun part; 5 random things about me:⠀
1. My highest WPM is 135! Secretary skills, FTW.⠀
2. I'm a 3 on the Enneagram.⠀
3. I was a band nerd in high school—drumline and alto sax. I still maintain it was pretty cool.⠀
4. I'm slowly learning photography skills to keep up with my hubby David (who took this photo), and maybe be his second shooter at a wedding someday.⠀
5. My index fingers are crooked.⠀
I'm curious, what's your "go-to random fact" about you???
Last week, the team and I met up to talk about the next year of workshops. Man, I am so excited to tell you all about what we have planned! We have some AWESOME ideas. The schedule will be up in the next week or two!
Effort & Attitude such an amazing motto. I am very excited that I was asked to make 14 custom stamped bracelets for a group of young girls who play softball. These girls will be reminded of the love and dedication there coach has brought to their world. Thank you Christine for asking me to help with this amazing gift!
Goodbye, Spokane! I am headed to New York to eat delicious food and look at some FINE art. These are my travel MUSTS. What do you like to bring? (Vendors + creatives are tagged.) Any suggestions or recommendations for tasty food? 🌲✈️🍎
▪️◾️Introduction Time ◾️▪️ It's been a while since I introduced myself to those of you who are tagging along on my design journey so here are some fun things about me!! •I am married to a handsome man name Jayson Baughan (pronounced "bon") and our one year anniversary is coming up in August! 💃🏻. •I live in beautiful Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and I honestly think Idaho is one of THEE most underrated states in the USA. •I love love love meeting new people but completely over think initial greetings so never feel like you can't/shouldn't say hello to me. I will most likely always love to chat. •I did not know I wanted to be a designer until I took a class in Illustrator in High School my senior year. Freelancing was always the plan down the road but for some reason it has become possible in the last few months.
Well, that's a few more things than I initially thought but hey! Enough about me, tell me about you in the comments!
