Who else could use a frozen margarita at Aquarius Taqueria right about now? Salsa Night is happening on the patio tonight at 8pm so we can dance off the accompanying tacos and kick off the weekend a day early. You deserve it. Cheers!
Minimalist artist Donald Judd purchased this five-story cast iron building at 101 Spring Street in 1968, making him one of the first artists to move to SoHo. He and his wife were co-founders of Artists Against the Expressway, which lobbied against Robert Moses’s plan for the Broome Street Expressway. They also advocated for the changing of zoning laws in Lower Manhattan (which is what the area we know today as SoHo was referred to until the 1970s) to allow for the conversion of industrial spaces into live-work studios through A.I.R. (Artist-in-Residence) designation. Works on view in the building remain as they were installed by Judd prior to his death.
