Hamstring strains are a common footballing injury. Patient experienced a sharp pain when overstretching for the ball, can also be caused through explosive sprinting or deceleration.
Sub-acute stage of injury, inflammation phase progressing through to the proliferation phase of healing. Squid ice compression used to reduce slight inflammation and pain, followed by an ultrasound treatment to stimulate a physiological response to aid the proliferation phase. Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation (IASTM) with the Rockblade to speed up recovery and Rocktape applied for decompression of the area, swelling and pain relief. Stretching exercises and Muscle Energy Technique also prescribed.
Sports massage will be needed during the proliferation phase as this will increase blood flow to the injured area and speed up recovery by breaking down the new collagen network and realigning the fibres minimising scar tissue #hamstringstrain#footballinjury#rehabilitation#recovery#squid#icetherapy#ultrasoundtherapy#injurymanagement#iastm#rockblade#rocktape#sportstherapy#sportsmassage#gym#strydesportstherapy
