Owning your own gym means learning what you need to spend money on and what you can do yourself...here’s how I refurbished these plates.

1. Used a circular wired brush attachment to a power drill to loosen and remove rust.

2. Poured Mineral Spirits on a rag to remove the rest of the rust.

3. Let the plates dry for a few minutes.

4. Placed them on 2 pieces of wood so I could easily get to the sides of each plate when painting.

5. Used black spray paint and motioned side to side up and down the plate to get an even coat.

Yes, this stuff works. I strained my hamstring a long time ago doing sprints..and this was before my serious SS days and having a SSC..so what did I do? Rest and avoid using it of course 🙄 I had issues with that thing FOREVER. This past year I was talked into joining in on a company softball game. 🙄Sprinting to base, I pull my other hamstring, but this time I had @cody_coderedstrength to help me through it. He had me do the Starr protocol, and man did those high rep squats and DL’s suck, but I was back to normal in a few weeks! And then we actually continued building on LP from there (since you start with very light weight and high reps then the reps go down to a normal 3X5 again as the weight gets heavier) and guess what? I finished further than I did before and I felt great. It also helped me with a mental setback I was having with my DL’s and being able to grind through a set without standing up to catch a breathe. So while injuries suck, it was good to go through that (so I can experience what my client’s may go through) and it made me stronger! 💜 @startingstrength

Deadlift - 480 lb (218.2 kg) @ 173 lbs (78.6 kg) for a 5 lb PR.  Missed this twice last Wednesday. Some days it’s there  some days it isn’t.  Lesson of the year.  23 month dry spell ended.

Today I had an epiphany: I am not special. I am not a #snowflake! While working on getting my knees out and butt back correctly, my squat depth has suffered. Weightlifting shoes have been ordered. Unacceptable!!! I hammered myself with volume for the last few weeks, because I can and need to at this point in my training, now it's time to ease up on that and push the intensity.
