I read yesterday that every single sickness or illness is at one point caused by stress. When the sympathetic nervous system is activated, your body shuts down everything that's not necessary to keep you alive (while you're running from the tiger). I would argue that most Americans are in this state almost constantly. .
Stress is so normalized that I don't think people realize they're in it. It's our daily state of being. And rather than addressing our lifestyles, we throw pharmaceuticals at the problem while we slowly develop chronic illnesses. Sigh. Rant over.
We all need tools to keep us feeling chill. Here's my checklist to calm the eff down:
✔️turn off screens
✔️magnesium, ashwaganda, reishi
✔️cuddle 🐱 cats
✔️reading (seriously my favorite relaxer)
✔️Laugh really hard
✔️give and receive hugs
