Business is a game. Let's say a game of chess. In a game of chess you have two players. Let's say you and your competitor.
Observe that in a game of chess, each player has one move, and one move only; and he must make it in absolute ignorance of everything else. Meaning you don't allow your competitor to be two times ahead of you in the game.
Having known this, it's best to always make the second move. Not always wise to be the first. Being the second mover, you get to study your competitors move better and counter it with a more devastating move.
By making the second move, it costs you less both in time and money. You even get to study his move carefully, discover flaws and come out with a better move to leave him hanging on the balance. In a game of chess, the winner takes it all.

The majority of my Instagram posts have focussed on my freelance illustration work (personal and commissioned) – created in the evenings, wee hours of the morning or weekends. What I haven’t shared is the day-to-day identity and branding work that I’m fortunate enough to create with my awesome team at @gsquared_marketing. Well that's gonna change! 😀 Stay tuned over the next week or so as I reveal this other side of yours truly. Interested in more of what we do? Check out our site – g-squared.ca
First up is a logo recently created for the Alberta based Faber Inc. – provider of a variety of 'forward thinking debt solutions' (which happens to be the tag line we coined for them). The wordmark is 100% custom and features a modification to the 'e', graphically representing both a bright blue horizon ahead (positive financial outcomes are possible), as well are a protective umbrella (a safe and secure place to find shelter from financial storms).

As small business owners and entrepreneurs of all shapes, sizes and specialities, we often think of our business as the thing we have to 'hustle for', step into, or aggressively gun for our goals with. But what if we thought of our business as a comfort instead? When life is chaos and tomorrow is an unknown, your business can step in as your firm foundation. It can be your hope, your future, your optimism, your structure. It can be as big and ambitious as you want it to be, or it can be as small and curated as you like. Instead of form-fitting to be what your business expects, try writing a new narrative: my business fits my rhythm, and I choose its speed.
I am often shocked by some of the things I hear people, who would otherwise be considered intelligent, say in conversations that are utterly misinformed and one-sided. Rather than assessing all sides of an issue, story, or event, it seems that the default for so many has been to regurgitate sound bites and overly simplified assessments made by media pundits or politicians on both the left and the right of the political spectrum. The act of considering an issue deeply from various angles is increasingly missing from the strategic and decision-making processes of many, even at the highest levels of leadership in our world. So the question is, “Why is this happening now at a time when the public’s access to various news and information sources has so dramatically increased?”
It is increasingly important, not just for individuals, but for organizations to guard against this growing trend. In my line of work, critical thinking is the foundational attribute required for organizations and individuals to truly take ownership in creating their ideal future. Critical thinking requires us to always question our bias and assumptions when it comes to a situation, piece of information, issue, or event. To take a narrow and oversimplified position on the issues we are currently facing leaves organizations and individuals extremely vulnerable to market disruptions and missed opportunity. Now is the time to not only question the information you have available, but to question the narrative by which you interpret that information.

@Regrann from @teensnurture - *THE POWER OF CHESS FOR TROUBLED TEENS*
On TRANSFORMATIONAL TUESDAY :
Implementing chess training to improve teens social skills.
The way my program worked was that if students performed well, they could have 15mins to play chess. That is, 15mins so long as they displayed good social skills and sportsmanship. Often, when this skills were being modeled, the 15mins would extend to 30mins. *My Observation* :The students developed other skills as well. For one thing, all of their behaviors improved and they attended to their studies more. When I first took the job, teachers would tell me, "If I had to work with kids like that, I wouldn't be in teaching". By Christmas, I was hearing "Oh, your job is easy. Those kids are so good". *My Students Lesson on CHESS*: First, they developed PATIENCE. Behavior disorder students tend to behave impulsively. So, practice in this area is important.
Secondly, chess teaches students to think about the CONSEQUENCES of their actions. In chess, ones actions have immediately consequences and mistakes are immediately punished and good moves are rewarded. Again, troubled teens don't think about what will happen next.
Thirdly, chess teaches students to plan and to carry out the plan. Also, it teaches students to REASON LOGICALLY and to PROBLEM SOLVE. Students who play chess develop the ability to VISUALIZE , which is an important skill that is used in MATHEMATICS. Lastly, it teaches students to think ABSTRACTLY as well as ALGEBRAICALLY because of the SYMBOL MANIPULATION.
Chess is a wonderful game that can provide us all with a lifetime of pleasure. And, for troubled teens it offers them an opportunity to develop skills that they desperately need to be SUCCESSFUL in SCHOOL and in LIFE .
G'day from the UK 🇬🇧 We've been abroad and taking TSC on an adventure. Two things we know; 1. The grass isn't greener on the other side, unless you visit Ireland 🇮🇪 2. One portable power bank is not enough #thesocialcue
