I figured it would be #crystalball that would put me over the distance for #myfirstmarathon and sure enough it was. From home to Oriental Bay in Wellington and back again - not a Hobbits tale!
I was a little apprehensive going into "Crystal Ball" - a 5 disc album set released in 1998 and my main memory consisted of how much I hated the song #cloreenbaconskin ; in fact I was enjoying the run and the album so much I decided to skip this track and listen to the title track from #TheTruth twice instead - one of my absolute favorite songs from The Artist, and given his impeding indoctrination into the Jehovahs Witness faith, a very important one.
Overall the run was pretty good, didn't quite manage to stay running the whole time but kept moving. Would love to get that time down a bit next time, will train hard for my next marathon where I will listen to the final 4 or 5 albums he made before leaving this Earthly Existence. #stravarun#purplerun#purplemarathon#prince#karmasutra#ilovewellington - so my more runners in the Capital compared with out here in the Hutt - for better or worse 😃😆🤔
Today's run was 1km WU 8km @ 5:45 pace. Garmin battery failed at 6km, I was keeping the pace well. But the final 3km were a bit slower using my phone and I wasn't keeping track of pace. Bit disappointed about that but glad I got it done. Oh and my first attempt at an action shot need some tips from the pros @tashruns4evan @pbdownunder

MY FIRST RUN EVENT
HALF MARATHON TRAINING Week 7 Day 7
Long Run Day🎉
The plan says 20k. No time specified 🤔🤔🤔.
Good excuse to go (easy) trail running in my fav place : Aussie Bushland. .
Storm. Showers. Wind and finally sunny. Hot.
Love my hydration drink. The only one I could drink.
Set a new time to beat on the Tree of Life Trail loop- 2.3 miles + 900' climbing +900' descending in 26:30. Had to jump a rattlesnake, saw lots of P22 scat and dodged crowds of hikers on the super technical downhill. Also set the double lap record as well. Total run was about 7.5 miles. #runLA#madetomeasureLA
Today was our first annual Tri Hardest Triathlon! Like anyone with a passion for something, it seems like I am always taking to someone about triathlons and encouraging them to give it a shot. So a few months ago I had a bit of an epiphany. I realized I could help provide an opportunity for people to experience their first triathlon in a low pressure situation. I also realized this could be a great opportunity to help raise money for a great cause, something that I have always wanted to find a way to do. Instead of race entry fees, the triathlon participants were encouraged to make a donation to brain tumor research at UT Southwestern Medical Center. This was inspired by/in memory of my Mom who was my biggest example of trying your hardest despite the circumstances. I invited 15 people to participate. We had 10 brand new triathletes participate in the super sprint! We also had 5 triathletes participate in the Olympic distance, 2 of which was their first time at that distance. It was so awesome to see everyone new to the sport pushing themselves. It was so fun to see everyone participate in a sport I love , and we were able to raise some money for a cause that is very personal to me. I really hope we can make this an annual event. Continue to introduce people to the sport of triathlon, and raise money in the process. It's all about sharing what you love and helping others in the process. What ever you do, Tri Hardest!
