My gentle reminder to myself as I feel myself slipping into old habits.
A few years ago I broke myself... truly! So much so I ended up in hospital dumbfounded by the discovery that I was suffering from severe anxiety. Here’s why, at the time I was
✔️ Co hosting 2 TV shows
✔️ Running a business & traveling the country delivering workshops
✔️ Fashion & Beauty editor 2 magazines.
✔️Playing premier Netball - lots of training
✔️ Training for 1/2 Ironman.
✔️ Mum to two girls in primary school and I did the 3pm pick up everyday ... and a few more hats.
Many have asked, What we’re you thinking? But that’s the thing, I wasn’t thinking. My limiting belief of achieving a ton of goals would make me happy & more loveable was directing the show.
FIRST NUGGET OF WISDOM (and a post for another day) we must change our focus from living a goal driven life to one of values! #preachit .
Anywho, I’ve decided, from a place of values, that I want to train to compete in some aquathlons this summer with my speedy & talented daughter @tomasina.hannah But I can see myself taking it all on again. Business, speaking gigs, workshops, fitness training, writing a book, yoga, Mamma, wife... AHHHH and breathe, deeply. Sam, you can do anything but not everything at once. So today I’m culling my list and rearranging timeframes as I look at my goals and ask, Is this aligned with my values? What’s a priority? Why do you want this? Where will I find the most joy + love? .
It’s so easy to take on everything, right?!
Got kids?! You need adaptogens in your life STAT! Better choice for me as we start another 30 day challenge today! I have to breakup with my afternoon coffee, and I'm glad that I have my ionix!

Also, my 4 year old isn't understanding what quiet play means during his brothers nap time today 🙄 So, I am drinking my ionix and we are playing legos.
The LINK between Digestion + Stress, let's talk about it :: if you're in the "fight or flight or freeze" cortisol-producing stressed-out state, your body shuts down digestion (you don't need to digest an apple 🍎 when you're running from a tiger) ... #
So if you're giving a big presentation at work, or about to go in to a high stakes biz meeting, don't eat a high fiber, voluminous, cruciferous veggie-filled meal before or shortly after! Your digestion will stall for hours and you may get bloated for the rest of the day.
Always re-teaching myself these lessons #alwayslearning 🥗 Gave a super fun presentation on making salads at @goldenearthworm Farm on Sunday and I was on such a high post talk (this is good stress, but it's still stress!). Then I ate about 2/3 of this salad. Soooo good. But, my body was still pumping cortisol and adrenaline through my system and I didn't digest this well = BLOATING. For HOURS.

Looking out at Monday feeling rested from the weekend, ready for the busy week ahead, and grateful to be doing what makes me happy and fulfilled. I started a 7-day meditation series that I think will be perfect for this hectic week of travel, work and usual healthy-life priorities [food prep, yoga, strength training, reading and relaxing 🤗🍓☄🏋️♀️]. Normally, on weeks like this, I'd skip meditation, knowing I have the tools I need if anxiety creeps in or I start to stress. While thats true, this week I'm pushing myself to stick with it - because this is when I need time for stillness the most. That balance is hard to strike but so imporant to find.
