Happy Saturday!! Contrary to what you may think—I am not a supa shredded ninja who walks around super swole all day. 😂 most of the time my tummy is full (gotta eat to grow) and my abs are not as apparent. Although I do tend to keep abs during my offseason, this has more to do with my genetics than anything else because I don’t train them or do anything fancy. Instagram is full of highlight reels, and I just wanted to clarify that you should take everything you see with a grain of salt. 💁🏼♀️
I have always had volleyball to thank for having big legs. But then today, someone came up to me at the gym and told me that my quads have grown since October, when they first met me. I was shocked!! But hey, I’ll take it (even though I’ve been trying to grow my hamstrings) 😂🤷🏽♀️
Sorry for the corny pic, but today is a day that I never ever ever thought I would reach. I don’t post or open up about my ED stuff for likes, but because I know how trapping the feelings can become. I know that life can seem confusing and pointless and getting better is the last care in the world at times. I know what it’s like to hit breaking point after breaking point and then show up with the biggest smile and “I’m great!”. We’re good at that shit. •••
What is making you feel so trapped inside? Think about what caused that and start there. Accept that life may have no answer to give you but that you can enjoy the ride. Smile - when you’re happy. Hurt - when you’re hurt. Let yourself feel and start opening up to your safe people. To say it will be easy is a fucked up lie. It is going to be hard and right when you think you’re “better”, challenges will be thrown at you. I also know that the other side is so worth it; that there is a whole other world to be honest - one that you can’t see or believe exists until you arrive. Be more, be better, be real 🤘🏼
2018 has already bought so many wins, but I have also missed a couple of opportunities to BE who I wish to BE!
The reason for the caps on the word BE is at the end of last year I was asked what one word will describe your 2018, it took a few try’s and a few different words before I heard a great quote from @terrycrews on the @timferriss show. “To have you must do, and to do you must BE”
That one quote made me realise I already am what ever I want to have all I have to do is BE!
My three goals this year are
BE health - to have and to inspire health I must BE health. Every day my choices must align with being HEALTH.
BE Business - To Provide the service and environment that changes people’s lives I have to BE more consistent, focused, professional, efficient and technical.
BE Family - To have a happy and harmonious family environment where my son and partner feel loved, cared for, healthy and inspired to be a family. To have this I have to BE patient, Humble, understanding, helpful and present.
There is no straight line to a goal, each day brings obstacles and lessons some new and some that are repeated because I am yet to learn its value.
The seeds are sown and my subconscious is working to make my thoughts reality and the message I repeat to myself is the same.
To have you must do and to do you must BE! .
Moved my long run to tomorrow because, well, I can!🤗 Reminder: your goals, training and life are all just that - YOURS. Yes, there are times to push through 11 miles on a groggy or unmotivated day BUT there are also times to simply shift your fitness plans based on how YOU feel. So after a long, hell-ish week at work, today this girl lounged in bed, wedding planned and then hit the weights because THAT is what felt RIGHT🤷🏻♀️
Had a bomb bi and tri day today😋😋 not gonna lie my legs are STILL sore from Thursday 😩😩 lately I love hitting upper body but I don’t think there’s anything I Love more than being sore... Ik sounds weird right? Could not march today due to a flu bug in our house. But I refused to let the day pass without a recognition of strong women and resistance. Day 20 - supposed to be #Chakorasana - mix of #LBH and #Armbalance . .
Slide 1 - #EkaHastaBhujasana with straight leg and lifting up, because I decided to work on #Handbalance component this year. Unfortunately the lower back issue I'm dealing with right now, makes compression very hard and I couldn't nor wanted to push it. .
Slide 2 - last year I was torturing myself with work on #LegBehindHead . .
I had interesting conversation with my amazing therapist yesterday. As she confirmed the issue lies with my SI joints and especially the right one, which is stuck at the moment, she said my sacroiliac joints are not designed to do what I try get them to do. .
And even being gentle (but firm), working on both sides, taking lots of time to warm up won't change my anatomy and I may never be able to do LBH nor foot to armpit, but instead I may keep "injuring" myself trying to do impossible due to my anatomical restrictions. .
I'm kinda thorn between what she is saying and the belief that #PracticeAndAllIsComing . .
Last 3 years (this is our 4th in a row!!), each January we repeat the same 28 poses, to keep us checked, motivated and track progress. .
If repeating THIS challenge each January helps you, in any small way, to stay on track and make you step on your mat more frequently, I say let’s go for it! .
