The man of the hour, @garethesson
Gareth said to me today, 'my songs are the most valuable thing I own'. I think that's beautiful and true of many artists.
I'm really proud of how these recordings have turned out. Can't wait to share them!
New studio toy alert!!!! We have been waiting for our @cubiio_ Lazer engraver to arrive for months. The most expensive Kickstarter we ever backed, and we will be running it through the paces asap and keep you posted. If it works as expected we can now Lazer engrave anything in the studio.....cranes gonna be burning into surfaces left right and center!!!
I've been though a lot of input devices over the years (countless mice, tablets, trackballs, weird 3d mice, and a few control surfaces, to name a few) and all have their benefits and drawbacks. The one thing that bugs me most is when a piece gets “in the way” rather than feeling like an extension of your brain. I recently introduced the nOb to my workflow and it changed everything for me. It works like it should by helping me to make decisions more efficiently. I never have to think about how it's working- I just use it and move on. It basically functions like the mouse wheel to control knobs and sliders in any daw/plugin, but once I got it in my hands I realized it's much more than that.⠀
If you need me, I'll be over here loving my nOb.
Buying an expensive microphone is probably a good way to cope with a chilly, rainy, windy monday !
For sale is this rare bird, a vintage Neumann U 397.
U 397 were commissioned in the 70’s by ORTF/Radio France.
It has a K67 capsule/ KK67 assembly like a U67 (You can take the head and pop it on your 67, if you have one), with a fet design.
Cousin of the U77, with -9v powering.
Clearier, airier and with hotter output than a U87 P48.
This particular fella has been restored and is in top condition.
Capsule is an original K67, remade by the expert Siegfried Thiersch (Sounds like an expert name, right ?), I guess you know it’s work, if you’re Neumann addict.
thus capsule is new and never used since it came back from there.
Preamplifier has been serviced and recapped where it matters by l’atelier du microphone in France.
The mic operates absolutely perfectly.
Comes with original Neumann box and special SOGIE to XLR cable.
Only minus: The little plastic spike that let you engage or disengage low cut filter is broken, but you still can operate it with a pen, or whatever, easily.
I have a looong history on other forums and perfect feedback on Gearslutz, Reverb and ol’ Ebay
If you happen to be in Paris, you’re welcome for a test, otherwise, well, it obviously can be shipped (insured).
Asking 2900 euros,or 3000 if you want to go through reverb where it’s also listed.
Can also sell for 50 euros an external battery box which allows you not having to open the microphone to change 9v battery.
Still have a few bits for sale that I need to get rid off. Have dropped the price on the Allen an heath so grab yourself a bargain!

The man behind the machine.
Ive gone through different pieces of equipment through the years and its strange how a certain feel or sound is preserved. I try to always grow but I think every artist has something that will stick with them.
