In Singapore newspaper straitstimes.com it is reported that Ministry of Health (MOH) has said that from 2020, most sweetened packed drinks will be capped at 12% (which will show on nutrition labels being 12g/100ml). Above picture from STRAITS TIMES.COM
A lot of drinks are now already moving towards that direction and besides packed drinks, drinks like coffee, tea, etc are also taking the steps to be "siu dai" meaning less sweet and it's very important we start requesting for less sweet or no sugar as we move to combating against diabetes rates making a rapid climb.
Besides sugar, through our dietetic consults, people sometime forget that it's not all about just sugar, but also the totality of a meal that includes fats, cholesterol, salt for instant, and also portion and our eating behaviour and choices.
We should take control of our daily food choices, instead of full avoidance of any of food, we should understand the basics of an ingredient, choosing wisely and eating in moderation whilst keeping active.
I bet you there's a giant noodle buffet in heaven with bowls and bowls of this red curry peanut sauce. Mmmm.
@miss_luckypony is going to be sharing the full recipe for this tasty Thai salad with sweet 'n salty tofu and red curry peanut sauce on her blog. She's also sharing her thoughts around vegan cooking as a non-vegan which is pretty rad.
I just want to eat this sauce on everything possible, so here's the recipe...
- 4 tbsp creamy peanut butter
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp agave syrup or other liquid sweetener
- 1 1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp tamari
- 2 tsp red curry paste
- 1 large clove garlic, minced
- Juice of 1 lime
- couple of pinches dried chili flakes
- black pepper
- Add all your ingredients to your blender and blitz until smooth (you can use a fork, but your sauce won't be as smooth).
This recipe had loads of new sauces and ingredients that I'd never heard of. I thought we'd struggle to find them but they're all available at @jacksons_real_food_market . Thanks Jacksons team for letting us raid your store :)
