Luuuuush day out in london with me Pa! Went to Sala Thai for dinner and it was pretty great (although I am hungry again now...). Had the veggie platter, which was a sweetcorn fritter, tofu, courgette, spring roll, tofu roll, and peanut sauce, and also the mushroom Tom yum soup. Prime! .
Overheard some ladies talking about how frustrated they were by not losing weight yet even though they've been going to the gym. Ladies! Love your bodies! I find inspiration to go to the gym from getting stronger, not thinner. Not saying my way is the right way of course, but if you're forcing yourself to work out to lose weight, you're bound to be frustrated. Also, it might help if ya eat some veggies (she ordered chicken no veg, wut?). And try cutting down on yer sugar! 🍧🍩🎂🍰🍫🍬🍭 #sugarsmart#sugarsmartuk#vegan#thai#weightloss#gym#dayout#selflove#allbodiesaregoodbodies
Gorgeous vegan feast at @comptoirlibanais in Southgate this evening! Being spoilt rotten by my lovely dad this weekend!
This food was amazing, and still more than enough for lunch/dinner in the week! What a perfect end to the weekend (but I've got the day off tomorrow too hehehehe Monday what???). Baba ganoush, beetroot hummus, tahini, falafel, freekeh salad, pitta breads, fresh herby salsa, tomato aubergine tagine, pumpkin and quinoa salad, and then a coconut milk pudding. Ridiculously indulgent. And all only £19.95 as part of #veganuary !!! Get ya selves down there!
Excited to be supporting Sugar Smart Cambs, a campaign run by Jamie Oliver and Sustain. Sugar Smart uk help local authorities, organisations, workplaces and individuals to reduce the amount of sugar we all consume 🚫🍫🍬🍭🍰🍩🍧🍦 Read more here: https://t.co/GDEHSBqZsR https://t.co/KBAL0Yjaag
Baking my first cake on the boat!!! And it's making the whole place all warm and cosy 😊 also doodling nudes while I listen to a Sam Harris podcast on 'consciousness and the self'. Great Friday night!
And my dad is coming tomorrow to pay a visit, so I can impress him with my tiny baking skills! 🎉
This cake is: 1 mashed banana, rapeseed oil, Apple cider vinegar, gluten free flour, organic mincemeat with no added sugar (like for mince pies, I got some reduced after Xmas hehe), mixed nuts, rice milk, dessicated coconut, cacao nibs and cocoa powder. Hopefully it takes as good as it smells! 🍰
omgggg so spicyyyyyy!!!!! Having to cool my mouth down with raw green beans cos my mouth is steaming!!! Haha such a good dinner! And super quick - I was bleddy hank Marvin after being in the gym for 2 hrs after work. Had a few oatcakes on my way home to keep the Wolf from the door, and luckily this wasn't far behind 😊
I just sautéed some garlic and onion and a birds eye chilli with turmeric, black pepper and rapeseed oil, then chucked a load of kale in the pan and put the lid on until it started to go a bit soft. Then I poured in a tin of lentil soup and added some nutritional yeast. Et voila! Serve with raw beans 👍👍👍 That should see the beginnings of this cold off!
So impressed with all the game upping that's going on with regard to vegan options in mainstream supermarkets! I'd always prefer to support local & independent, but for times when you need something quick n cheap, the supermarket is your friend.
This was actually surprisingly good 😊 thanks sains!
I see you Vip, in this dramatic scene with your Guinness and your cake & ice cream, listening to a talk on parking charges and healthy streets. I see you looking at me to see if I'm looking at you. I am. Hehe but there's no judgement 😊 eat whatever you like, I'll be happy if you're aware of how much sugar is advised for an adult to eat per day (30g added sugar max) and try to stick within that 😊 but do whatever you have to do to make it sustainable, and if that means eating cake sometimes then go for it!
Amazing porridge this morning to warm me up!!! (Frying pan porridge is my new fave). This is rice milk, goji berries, banana, raisins, mixed nuts, vanilla, cinnamon, carob, cacao, mixed seeds (pumpkin, flax, sunflower), and oats obviously - no sugar or syrups for meee 🙃🙃🙃 It was such a beautiful morning at the marina today! Mist hanging in the air, a glorious orange sun rising past the trees, and a sky as blue as it can be 😊
A reminder that spring is on its way 🌞🍃 #sugarsmart#sugarsmartuk#sugarsmartBANES#vegan#whatveganseat#vegansofig#porridge#boatlife#spring
Thought I was getting the nutri bullet out to make some sweet lil energy balls, but instead I made this super duper kale pesto!!! It's about 4 handfuls of kale, the stalks and end leaves of a bunch of parsley, some cashews, nutritional yeast, a couple of cloves of garlic, salt, and a drizzle of British cold pressed rapeseed oil. SO GOOD.
Ready to go with ma hemp tea, just had a bagel (fu funny tummy u ain't gna make me subject my bagel baby to the bin!) & feeling fine in ma fluffy scarf 🤗
The bagel was so good that I gotta tell yaz! Half was Violife cream cheese with Sharon fruit, and the other half was avocado, parsley, and peanut butter 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 SO GOOD.
(Better than jam!)
Life is grey when ya can't eat. Got an upset stomach so I'm on the dry rice cakes today, booorrrriiiinnnggg. Although I do love a rice cake.
Bit worried about the dinner plans I've made for this eve though... 👎
Anyone got any tips for soothing a funny tum? Been on the peppermint & green tea too!
MADE SOME KICK ASS PIZZAS TONIGHT! After that amazing brunch I cycled to Bath (9.5 miles) to hang out with friends. We played poker using pasta and chocolate as chips. I made pizza, potato salad and baked paprika pumpkin for everyone. It was great. 🍕🍕🍕
Pizza had hummus as a sauce, followed by marinated aubergine, tomato, and shallots in balsamic, oil, herbs n spices and then wok fried. Shavings of parsnip, fresh spinach, fresh tomatoes, tofu, and mixed nuts.
The potatoes were boiled and then shallow fried with green beans broccoli, and chilli.
Breakfast at 7.30am on a Saturday. For times when you think "ah nothing planned! I'll have a lie in!" but go to bed at 10pm and are wide awake at 5.30am! .
It was a bit of luck though really, since my electric just ran out - perfectly timed since I'd just finished toasting my bagel in the oven, made a cuppa, and blasted the heater for a couple minutes. .
Time for a trip up to the shop in the morning light to get some change for the meter! .
This bagel was prime too btw! Cinnamon and raisin, with vegan cream cheese, lettuce, parsley, and artichokes 👌
Having a go on this hemp leaf tea sent to me by a friend who lives on the very hemp farm itself! It's called Hempen, they're on WorkAway, and you can join them for the harvest or volunteer on the farm! .
Perfect use of this cute little mug/teapot that my dad gave me for Xmas. Lots of teabags have plastic in them 👎👎👎 so this is the perfect solution for making loose leaf tea faff-free! Just glass and metal, it's genius. .
BOOM @nakdbars you are delicious 👌 unfortunately the shops in keynsham don't have quite as many vegan options as the ones in Bath, so today I visited the greengrocers and came away with two persimmons and a bunch of bananas for £1.24. Not bad ey! Gna be eating a lot more fruit living here! 🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌 and yes, fruit sugars are totally fine and good for you! Don't even worry about it! .
Had my first guest on the boat tonight!!! My brilliant friend @anneli.tree who never fails to make me laugh & is always there to listen to my woes, joys, or just eat food with me.
We made spaghetti with broccoli, carrot, courgette, red onion, sprouted chickpeas, vegan parmesan and tomato passata. (Many jars of pasta sauce contain added sugar so just make your own! If you like it richer add grated beetroot, or for extra creaminess add some coconut cream!) Prime. Followed by my mums homemade sugar free vegan Christmas cake!
I find plants to be a great alternative to choccie as gifts for people you don't know too well (like people's mums, grandmas etc), and less sugary ofc!
The lovely man in Hastings old town plant shop sorted me out with these, and he was so knowledgeable it was crazy!!! The jasmine circle smells incredible, and the mother-in-law's tongue will purify ya air right up. Great gifts.
Now I know it doesn't look much like it from this photo, but this is a #protest . A couple of weeks ago, I donned my most toothfairy-like clothing to join the #sugarsmart campaign.
#Sugar in all its various guises and the #brands that peddle them to us have become a regular feature of daily life for many of us. Not only are they readily available in shops but their #advertising and #sponsorship means they frequently pop up everywhere else too. From #celebrityendorsements to #footballstadiums to #cartoons to #schools to children's pencil cases. Children, particularly those brought up in #deprived areas, are exposed to a lot of messaging that promotes and #normalises high sugar consumption. And all of that exposure has been proven to have the brands' desired effects - get 'em hooked young and you've got #loyal customers for a lifetime! ...which is great news for their #shareholders . But the resulting overconsumption of sugar is a horrible disservice to the #children themselves. 40,970 children underwent multiple tooth #extractions for decaying teeth in 2014-15 in England (Local Government Association 2016). And then there's the #obesity - 1 in 5 of our young people start primary school #overweight or obese, and by the time they start secondary, that figure leaps to 1 in 3.
The figures are stark and they're not going to get better anytime soon so #Sustain has joined up with @jamieoliver to create sugarsmart to raise awareness of and reduce #overconsumption of sugar.
So, where do the truck and the #toothfairies fit in? You might well ask. We were delivering a letter to @cocacola to ask them to take #responsibility as an influential brand and support customers to make #healthier choices. Every year, they go on a #happyholidays truck tour up and down the country and on this particular Saturday, they were at the O2 arena just as #teens were piling in to see their favourite musicians.
Let's hope this year Coca-cola gives us a really #happyholiday by showing us how they're going to start behaving more responsibly.
