Focus of the week: Dry Itchy Hair and Scalp
Focus of the day: Relief Yesterday ee talkef about the causes and triggers of Dry Itchy Hair and Scalp. Today we're going to focus on some relief efforts and healing. There are 6 main causes of Dry Itchy Hair and Scalp:
1. A bacterial infection caused by a auto-immune condition such as: psoriasis and alopecia
Relief: a chamomile tea rinse will calm the skin, and can be taken internally to calm the spirit
2. Weather changes from season to season
Relief: change your hair washing routine. Add a few more days in between your washes so that your body's natural oils can hydrate your scalp.
3. Mineral deficiencies of Vitamin A, B12, C, and Zinc
Relief: a multivitamin supplement, or a cup of nettle leaf tea twice a day.
Relief: complications from dehydration can cause kidney failure and coma. Increase fluid intake, you should consume small amounts of electrolyte-containing clear fluids such as broths, or sports drinks on a regular basis.
Relief: comfrey has recognized dandruff fighting properties, it can be applied to the scalp as an oil or added to your shampoo.
6. Allergic reaction to food and/or shampoos
Relief: it can be very difficult identifying what foods your allergic too. As for shampoos, go for a Sulphate free shampoo and conditioner. These products don't have the harsh ingredients that cause excessive dryness. Some things to consider: It can be one of these causes or a combination of them that can result in Dry Itchy Hair and Scalp, but making small changes like switching to Sulphate-Free shampoos and conditioner, drinking more electrolyte-containing fluids, or taking a multivitamin can give you long lasting relief.
So excited to announce that my very own range of products have finally arrived! After months of researching and sourcing samples, I am so pleased to be able to share this with you all. Included in my range are... Sulphate Free Shampoo ▪
Not only are sulphates no good for coloured hair as they strip the colour out, they will also cause your beautiful extensions to dry out and loose that shine. By using a sulphate free shampoo you will keep your hair in the best condition it can be, whilst protecting your extensions and your colour.
Extension Conditioner ▪
Don't be fooled into thinking this is only for extensions wearers. I tried all the products myself and this really felt great. My hair was super soft but with lots of bounce too and wasn't weighed down like heavy conditioners can often do. It is essential when wearing extensions to use specialist aftercare products to prolong the life of the extensions, and this will really do the trick.
Leave In Conditioner ▪
This is a great detangler which is vital when brushing your extensions, especially when wet.
It contsins heavy amounts of Panthenol – or pro-vitamin B5 which moisturises, coats and seals the hair surface.
Also contains anti static and
moisturising properties and can be used on wet or dry hair.
Argan Oil ▪
My favourite! This has a beautiful fragrance and is sooo conditioning. Used on wet hair it will add nourishment and moisture ready for your blowdry. Used on dry hair is will smooth down all those cuticles and provide a beautiful shine and give your hair a lovely scent too.
Get Feather Soft, Tangle-Free Hair with Our Apple & Berry Shampoo🍏
Regular shampooing might keep hair squeaky clean but it also tends to strip hair of its natural protective oils. Brushing, blow-drying and adverse weather, meanwhile, can damage the hair’s outer surface.
Each hair is covered in tiny cells which look a bit like fish scales. Damage causes these to stand out which makes the hair look dull, rough and out of condition. Regular use of this gorgeous shampoo will add luster, shine and gloss to your hair AND it smells like sunshine and strawberries. What more could a girl ask for?😉 Made With:
Distilled Water, Jojoba, Vit B5, SLSA, Botanical Infusions & Essential Oils.

Thank you @chocolatehairsisters for the review. 💃🏽💃🏽 #Repost @chocolatehairsisters (@get_repost)
@purpulhair launched their new range a few weeks back and we've been using them for a review. So read on for our 1st impressions.
Leave in - I made the mistake of using a lot of this when we first tried it. Big mistake, with this leave in, a little goes a long way! It's nice and runny but not water like, so we use water first before using it. Love the squeeze bottle and not spray bottle container and easy to squeeze. It works well on dry hair when you want to manipulate hair in the morning. Love the scent, not too strong and it absorbs into hair nicely and does not leave a white residue.
Shampoo - Nini says this is her favourite product from the range 😅 She was sold on the smell, apparently it smells like mango and strawberries and if she could she would eat it. The squeeze bottle is also nice here and comes out easily, a bit too easily. The shampoo foams well and does not strip the hair of oils. My only complaint is it's a little too runny, so when we first used it a lot of it came out of the bottle as I wasn't expecting it to be so runny. But going forward I know, a little goes a long way here.
Conditioner - I think you have all figured with this range a little goes a long way! The conditioner is heavenly, my favourite from the range. It's thick and coats the hair well! We left it on for about 20 mins covered in cling wrap and when we detangled the knots were easy to remove. The conditioner is also easy to rinse off and it smells lovely and not over powering. I really have no complaints with this product
Overall our first impressions of this range is that it's good! We love that a little goes a long way, so it will last. Add their shea butter and their famous oil and you basically have a full set of products! Thank you @purpulhair
For sending these to us!
Hair care line we love: Kevin Murphy. The Hydrate-Me wash & rinse, formulated with antioxidants, is super smoothing and leaves our hair glowing and full of life 👏 (especially needed for our highlighted hair!) 🙌
If you want to keep your hair looking vibrant as if you just had a colour. Invest in a professional shampoo and conditioner that is sulphate free and does not contain any harsh chemicals. Our Medavita collection has something for everyone. #apprileluxury#darbystreet#newcastle
So after finding out that my shampoo has SLS and sodium chloride in it. I will no longer be using it. I did some research and found out that @palmersuk do a sulphate free range and okay they are more pricey it’s worth it to not have a load of chemicals ruining my hair. Can’t wait to use it. 😊
It's me again 😁, to start off Ways to Add Moisture to Your Hair, here is point #1
Shampoo your hair.
This goes for all hair types, from straight to kinky, no matter your method (meaning whether you’re using a cleansing cream, bentonite clay or some other gentle sulfate-free product), keep your hair clean. Yes, the wash process can be drying but do note, shampooing your hair removes product buildup that ultimately prevents products from gaining entry into your hair shaft.
If your efforts to add moisture to your hair appears impossible, then it may be a sign that it's time to shampoo those tresses. Chances are, your products may be sitting on top of your hair, rather than moisturizing it.
Our shampoo is clean luxury. Men love it as much as women. It is sulphate free + silicone free + paraben free and what’s more… we found a way to create mountains of lather! One of the rare sulphate free shampoos with an abundance of mousse.
Wow what a hetic week, however I am now having a look through my goodie back from the s/s18 @ninanaustdal fashion show. Such a genius check out her collection.
First gift on my try list is the Waterman Grow Me Shampoo, owned by the wonderful Watermans
