I suppose half of the battle is recognizing what makes you happy- and the second part is going for it...following your heart. What makes me happy? As I get older (and the years are passing oh so quickly!) I realize that it’s the little things...the moments of small joys and less of those big life goals I made a check-list of when I was younger.
Today is a day filled with those small things- and amount to a greater contentment at the end of the day...at the end of everything. ⭐️ This morning I woke up with my daughter and we had a brief Lady Gaga dance party as we drank our lemon water together. (Yes! she asked for water and lemon 🍋 before her breakfast!). We then dressed in pink and made #strawberry#smoothies . I went to a bikram #yoga class with a friend, ran by the grocery store (grocery shopping is one of my greatest pleasures btw!😅), and in a while my babe and I are going to get into the kitchen for a few hours- make #vegan latkes for our Hanukkah dinner in deux and possibly ANOTHER chocolate cake. We’ll light the menorah, eat our #plantbased latkes and maybe watch a movie. We’ll take baths (hers with lavender oil and rice starch- mine with Epsom salts and eucalyptus), we’ll read a story and when she goes to bed- I’ll put on some music, light a candle and write- maybe about life, maybe a new recipe or maybe something else. I’ll get to bed relatively early, kiss my baby, and hopefully wake up to another day full of happy moments and indulging in the things I enjoy the most. These are things I love. Some of them at least. And I am #grateful that today, and hopefully many other days, I get to do exactly what I love doing with the people I love doing them with💕

1/2 cup coconut milk
1/4 cup coconut yoghurt
1/4 cup filtered water
1 frozen banana
15 frozen strawberries
1 tbsp white #chia seeds
1 tbsp maca powder
All blended in my #vitamix 🎀
This silly squishy face, covered in yogurt 😍 She loves to watch me workout and join in. Kids learn from what we do more than what we say. We need to model for them the behaviors we hope to see in them.
Which is why today I showed up and worked out, even though I felt low energy and honestly wasn’t in the mood. During my workout I wanted to quit. I thought, why does it matter if I finish the last 10 minutes? When I pushed past that negative self talk I thought, maybe I’ll just give 50% effort so I make it through the whole workout.
👉Then I decided that is just a waste of my time. Why show up if I’m not going to give it my best.
So I pushed. And I finished. And this little girl watched Mom push, and sweat and collapse in a proud puddle when she was done 💪 Now she’ll watch her mommy fuel her body with some superfoods in a yummy shake, and she will ask for some, because she always does.
And hopefully she will learn the value in self care. It won’t be about “being a pretty girl” or being a certain size or looking a certain way. It will be about being strong and confident and the best version of the ~unique you~ that you can be ❤️
