I would like to introduce you to another one of our brave and beautiful Superstars!
This is Sylvia, and she turned 10 in April. Sylvia has been dealing with Type-1 Diabetes for 2 years and is now managing it so well that she is performing all her own blood tests, carb counting and all of her own injections, which is a needle before each meal!
Sylvia is now working towards keeping her own blood sugar records to assist the wellness clinic staff with how certain foods work for diabetics and how quickly.
In Sylvia's words ... "I've got this!" We think you are amazing and Super Brave Sylvia!
Currently there is no cure for Type-1 Diabetes. Cure Kids has funded research by Cure Kids’ first Professorial Chair of Child Health and board member, Professor Bob Elliott, to try to prevent Type-1 Diabetes as well as find a cure via transplantation of new insulin producing cells. This has been a world leader.
By supporting our events, Red Nose Family Fun Day in The Square on Saturday 30 September, and the Red Walk at the Hardie Street Reserve on Sunday 1 October, you are helping Cure Kids help kids like Sylvia!
