Agnes Martin: Untitled #10 , 1975 🎨
Flashback Friday to the Agnes Martin exhibition at The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). The first and most comprehensive retrospective of the artist's work since 1992.
The exhibition covers the full breadth of her practice, revealing her early and little-known experiments with different media and tracing her development from biomorphic abstraction to the mesmerizing grids and striped canvases that became her hallmark.

It was such a pleasure to work on this portrait. So lovely to work from a vintage photograph. So beautiful that it was ordered as a gift for Margaret (pictured) who's husband Roy passed away this year.

I’m trying to finish up a couple 24x36 canvases because I have a some floater frames that I’d love to use to complete these.
This painting took quite awhile for me to dig out and figure out the right way to say what I want to say. It follows my internal journey this fall: from my son turning one, to memories of amazing labor to trauma all in 30 hours, to seeking out therapy for disordered eating and sitting through sessions with a psychologist that wasn’t the right fit. This painting finally came together when I chose to take a step back from those sessions and found that I have more agency than I was giving myself and there are some pretty kickass colors floating around in my heart. This painting follows my internal process as I dropped “I am darkness, I need light” and instead pick up, “I am light and I give light.”
This painting says:
I am woman.
I am mother.
I am nourishing color.
I am filled with a higher Love that never leaves.
I am memories and space for emotions to be felt.
I am alive with highs and lows, and neither define me.
This painting will be for sale, and my hope is that others will see the life in it and connect deeper with the life inside themselves.

#johannesvogtgallery is extremely excited to feature “Accomplices,” a rare collection of collaborative works by #lilianaporter and #anatiscornia . In “Accomplices” we are presented with a world that borders on the line between fiction, reality, and representation. Both artists are widely recognized for their individual practices, however in what began as a happy photography accident (2004), Liliana Porter and Ana Tiscornia have through their collaborative efforts created an entirely new body of work. Porter and Tiscornia’s sharp wit creates something new through playful mischief.

“Esperamos que todos ustedes caminen junto a nosotros. Por eso queremos unir nuestra pequeña voz de zapatistas a la voz grande de todos los que luchan por un México nuevo. Llegamos hasta aquí a gritar, junto con todos, los ya no, que nunca más un México sin nosotros. Eso queremos, un México donde todos tengamos un lugar digno", dijo Ramona en 1996 antes de cerrar sus ojos por última vez en octubre.
